I cannot load Firefox 7.0.1 into my application folder on my iMac using OS 10.7.7.

When I try to move the Firefox icon to the Application Folder, it creates an untitled folder within my Application folder. This folder has Firefox version 6.0.2 and a complete copy of my existing Application Folder. This happens when I try the Update download or a complete download. The normal download and update worked fine on my Macbook Pro. I notice that there is a small arrow at the lower left hand corner of the Firefox icon after I try to move it to the Applications folder.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Nope---didn't work. I've owned Macs for about 12 years so although I am brain dead on some things, I do have a working knowledge on most things. I only say that to say this--I did try holding down the mouse and choosing empty trash. It asks if I want to permanently delete what's in there. I say yes--and then I get the same identical message again-----'The operation can't be completed because the item "Firefox 8.0.1.dmg" is in use I can then click stop, or continue.' So apparently that complains the same way it does if I click it up on the menu :)))
As for item owned by---that's not an issue and isn't coming up. User is not a problem either as I am the only user on this system. There is only ONE file in my trash at the moment at that is this dmg file. Nothing Mac. Nothing owned by anyone other than Firefox. The problem seems to be that the dmg file and the original 4.0 FF file are working in tandem with each other--even though I have already drug the new 8.0 globe into the Apps folder and it updated the FF app with the new stuff. If I could force the dmg file to go away, I would do so, but at every turn the system is telling me it can't be done because it seems to think that dmg file is in use---even though everything is shut down and/or ejected. cannot load firefox. goes thru the run process,that asks for current user or administrator.i click current and it just diappears.the second choice gives me a user name(ADMINISTRATOR). won't accept anything i put in as a password.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator. 
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties". 
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected. 
Also check your security software. 
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

That is a problem with an AVG extension (toolbar).
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

OMG I think I just figured it out.... I was dragging the disk icon to the apps folder. I was supposed to drag the icon within the pop up window to the apps folder. As you can tell, I'm a PC user and new to mac! I think this is going to solve the mystery!

Does that mean you have to sign out of creative cloud on one machine and sign back in to creative cloud on the other machine to be able to use it?
No. You can be signed in to the Cloud (using the same Adobe ID) on two separate computers at the same time.
If you want to activate the Cloud on a 3rd machine then you need to sign out of one of the other computers.
Your issue on your home computer is unlikely to be related to signing in.

The thing in your download folder is a "disk image." You have to double-click it and it will place a white "disk" on your desktop. It should also open a window with a Firefox icon and your applications folder. Then you can drag it to the applications folder. When you are done drag that disk to the trash.
