I cannot make a top level collection set.

LR 4 only lists other collection sets as an option or "next to." I have a PC, 16 GIG RAM.

When I Click the Plus icon for either Collection or Collection set I get:

It depends on your starting point. If you already have a static collection or collection set selected when you press the + icon, I agree you get the options that you've stated. If, however, you do not have any existing static collection or collection set selected (e.g. if you have a folder or even a smart collection selected), when you then press the + icon you will get this:
So if you're looking to create a new collection set at the top level, either select an existing top level collection (and choose "Next To"), or have no existing static collection/collection set selected and choose "Top Level".

  • How make the Top-level Navigation and Content Area in one page as a whole?

I want to make the Top-level Navigation and the Content Area in the one page as a whole displayed in user interface. In the default framework, the Top-level Navigation and the Content Area were contained  in 2 pages, So the vertical scroll bar could only control the Content Area. I want to control the full page with  one vertical bar like the page of "www.sdn.sap.com" Web.

    Hi Jianguo,
One advantage of the external facing portal solution (SP14) is that the framework page is displayed in a single frame. Perhaps this could be of use to you.

  • How can I programically make a top level VI panel invisible?

How can I programically make a top level VI panel invisible?

You can use VI Server's 'Close FP' method to close the front-panel. You will need a reference to that VI to invoke the method. One easy way is to launch the VI with the VI Server and hold on to its reference.
See the attached diagram -- the top-level.vi is launched and run, we wait for 5 seconds, and then close its front-panel.
Hope this gives you some ideas.

  • I cannot use the top level of tabs on my yahoo mail with a Flash Player add on

yahoo mail has updated their home page. The top line of tabs: contacts etc does not work. The curser does not change to a hand. The email inbox seems to work OK. If I uninstall a Flash Player add- on, the yahoo mail works normally. This Flash Player add- on was recently installed to enable me to view some videos. Do I really need that Flash Player add-on?

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

  • Reentrant top level vi

I have a fairly large top level application vi which contains a number of non-reentrant Functional Globals.  It is a cRIO RT application.  The product which this LV application supports is modular.  That is, the end product is being expanded by integrating a duplicate set of the hardware.  From a software control standpoint, the same LV application could be used to support the expansion.  Thus, on the cRIO a second instance of the top level application vi running from a parallel loop would do the job.  However, because of the non-reentrant Function Globals this will not work because state needs to be maintained.  I see two options for a solution:
    1) Duplicate the top level vi hierarchy with unique file names for all functional global vi's.  This would be very inefficient.
    2) Change the functional global vi's to re-entrant, pre-allocated.  This may be the best, but has it's issues because the application calls these vi's in different places.
Any other suggestions to manage a modular architecture like this?

Here, I got it to work.
You make your functional global a non-reentrant template and you make your top level vit a reentrant vi template. Then when you launch the top level vit dynamically you will get two independent instances of the functional global. I used VI server methods but you could most likely use start async call if you are using LabVIEW 2012.
Run the Main.vi and you will see that each launched template VI increments its counter independent of the counter in the other vit.

  • Resizing controls in top level VI

In the LabVIEW8 version of the TestStand3.5 OI, in the Top-Level VI, there is a call to FULL OI - Resize Controls.vi.  If I (at the top-level VI) set the VI properties in Window Appearance::customize:: and uncheck the show vertical/horizontal scrollbars, thus disallowing the user to resizer the OI, do I need the Resize Controls.VI?

    Hi MrBean,
I would recommend to leave the Resize Controls.VI there because even though you have disabled the scrollbars there are other things that can affect the control sizes such as Windows themes, using large fonts, etc.

  • In application builder the top level vi is always set to "run when opened"; how do I turn this off so I don't have to change it each and every time I build a .exe??

I build a lot of executables using Application Builder under LabVIEW and in every one I build, I don't want the top level vi to take off and run when I open the executable. Currently, I edit each .exe I build within Application Builder and change the option of "run when opened" from Yes to No for the top level vi. All the other subvi's are already set to No. It would seem as though there should be some way to "turn this off" if you will so the top level vi is not always set to "run when opened" by default within Application Builder. Is there such a solution that anyone knows of?? Any help would be apprec
    iated... thanks...

Indeed the Application builder forces "run when opened" to true for top levels VIs. If you don't want your VI to make any real work when the application starts, you should simply put a do-nothing loop in the beginning of the VI that will loop until the user presses a boolean. It will be more intuitive for users to press a Run button on the FP than clicking on the white Run arrow in the bar.

  • Unable to set a top-level property object

    Hey guys
I've made a little sequence to fetch data from a XML file. In that XML file, there is some informations (entries) (IP addresses, port numbers, etc) about 4 different types of devices(sections are the devices names). The first section of the XML tells me the NAMES of the devices I have to configure. The type of each device is located in the entries of each device. Each device has its own information and I can have more than one device of a type. In teststand, I've created custom data types (containers with empty fields) for each type of device I need.
I want to dynamically create the devices that the XML file tells me to configure as fileglobal variables and populate them with their own config informations (entries of the XML file). I'm creating new fileglobal of the type I want using PropertyObject step and I'm creating an alias of that fileglobal that I'm passing in parameter to a subsequence who's getting infos from XML. Here, everything is OK.
The problem occurs when I want to configure 2 or more objects of the same type. At the SetProperty step (where i'm creating the fileglobal variable) teststand gives me the error:
"Unable to set a top-level property object to another object. Error accessing item 'Parameters.DeviceToInitStruct'."
Is there any ways to avoid that problem and creating to variable of the same type ?
    thanks

    Hi
I finally got rid of that problem.
Instead of using a PropertyObject.Clone step, I used a statement who's just copy the "MasterObject" into a "CloneObject" and i'm working with that copy. So the sequence can now create devices of the same type without any conflict with the first device.
i'll post here a short example to show how i did... maybe it'll be useful for someone...

  • How to make the report shows only top level steps

    HI,
I use many subsequences in my tests.  I have no interest to see them in the report.  How can I force the report to show only top level steps?
    Thanks
    Rafi

I needed to prevent 'Skipped' steps from appearing in my reports.  One way to do this is to override the SequenceFilePostResultListEntry callback in the model.  You do this by clicking on Edit and then Sequence File Callbacks and then find SequenceFilePostResultListEntry in the list and click the Add button.
Edit your new callback in your sequence file to check for a pre-condition.  In my case I checked for Parameters.Result.Status == "Skipped" since that parameter is set to Skipped, Done, etc. based on the result.
If the condition was true then my only step in the callback was to set Parameters.DiscardResults = True.  The TestStand model will then throw that result away when it processes the report.  You could add a step for every type of data you wish to discard.
A second method that is easier to implement, but time consuming, is to select each step you DON'T want in your report and bring up the Properties for that step.  Under the Run Options tab, deselect the Record Results box.  That will keep the results of that step out of the report, but you have to do this for EVERY step you don't want to have reported.  The first approach I provided acts to filter the results.
If you aren't sure what the Parameters.Result.Status will be, then set a breakpoint after that step is executed and scan the parameters when the sequence is halted there.  You can then detect the actual text used as a result for that step, such as "Done" and can set your pre-condition appropriately.

  • How to make top level navigation not refresh

    Hello Guys,
I have a question concerning on my External Facing Portal, my boss wants that when I click on a tab or a link in the Top Level Navigation , to load the content in the Content Area without refreshing the whole page, What I want is that when I click on a tab or link of the Top Level Navigation , the Top Level Navigation and the MasterHead not to refresh and that the content be loaded and refreshed only in the Content Area. The only way I know to do this is by making a frameset of my page and to make the masterhead and toplevel navigation a frame and the detalied navigation a frame and the content area a frame, and in the links to put the target property to the name of the content area frame, but I don't know if this is possible to do in the portal, I see that all is embedded and I don't know how to make a frameset like this in the portal.
Any highlights to solve this will sure be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rewarding points will be given.
    Luis

    Hi,
When you are implementing External Facing Portal, i think you have used Light Framework Page.  In Light Framework Page, only one Framework has been used, so when you click on the top level navigation, the whole page will get refresh, so there is no otherway as of my knowledge.  If you use standard framework page in portal, it is possible to do (i.e. the content area only get refresh)  and the concept of your External Facing Portal is eliminated here.

  • Cannot Create Folder at Top Level of Documents Library

Operating System:  Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-Bit
    Environment:  Windows 2003 domain
Security:  Local Machine admin, and domain admin
Documents Library is redirected via Group Policy to
    \\servername\home\username
Navigating to Libraries\Documents, there is no "New Folder" button available at that top level of the library.  When using File menu => New => Folder, I get "Unable to create the folder 'New Folder'   File system error (512)."
Looked that one up using Google, er, I mean Bing, and found articles about it being an old DOS\Win95 issue with the 512 max limit on the root drive.  Am familiar with that problem, and this ain't it. Less than 30 folders at the root level, and none more
    than 20 characters long.
From inside an Application, if I try to save to my Library\Documents folder, I cannot save a file to the root level.  I get "To save here, you must first include a folder in the Library."
At this point where I am looking to save a file, I also cannot type a folder name for navigation, as I am used to doing with previous OS's.  So in my address area, I have Libraries\Documents, then I have a subfolder called "important."  If I type
the word "Important," expect the system fo navigate down into that folder.  Instead I get "To save here, you must first include a folder in the Library." If I type "Important\" I still get the same error.
Navigating to \\servername\home\username, I am able to create a New Folder at the top level from a Windows Explorer window, or from inside an application such as Word.
Mapping a drive letter to \\servername\home\username also will allow me to create a New Folder at the top level, from a Windows Explorer Window, or from inside an application.
From a command prompt, I am able to get to the drive letter and create a new folder.
With the drive letter mapped, going back to Libraries\Documents, I am still unable to create a new folder that way.
I read these two threads, both of which sort of die off with no real answers.  So I've started my own.

    Any Help?

    Hi,
Regarding your problem, it seems that the user didn’t have appropriate permissions to create folders. To get it work, NTFS and Share permissions must be configured
    appropriately.
Here are the Share and NTFS Permissions needed on the File Server Shares and the steps to do so:
NOTE: The $ symbol should be used to hide the existence of the share.
    User Home Share Configuration:
Here are the Share and NTFS Permissions needed for Home Directories:
    a. The Share permissions (Sharing Tab): Share Named: <HOME>$
    Administrators: Full Control
    System: Full Control
    Authenticated Users: Full Control
    b. NTFS Folder Permissions (Security Tab): Turn off inheritance on the Folder named <HOME>, and copy the permissions. (Uncheck "Allow inheritable permissions
    to
    propagate to this object")
    Administrators: Full Control
    System: Full Control
    Creator Owner: Full Control
Authenticated Users: Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read
    c. On the NTFS Folder Permissions Click the Advanced Button. Then highlight Authenticated Users, Select View/Edit
    d. On the Permissions Entry for <HOME>, "the Apply onto" change to: "This folder
    only"
    e. Click OK
    f. Click OK again.

  • How can I find out what top level VI TestStand cannot find a sub-VI for?

I am trying diligently to build a TestStand deployment and keep getting errors. TestStand is telling me that an error has occurred because it cannot find a sub-VI in a certain path. The problem is it does not tell me what VI it cannot find a sub-VI for. It just gives me the path that it is trying to find the sub-VI in. Is there any way I can tell what top level VI in a sequence TestStand is trying to find the sub-VI for? Thanks in advance for any help.

Josh - I did not have any disbale diagram structures in the sub-VIs that were giving me trouble. Nor did I have any read only VIs. I mass compiled my entrire directory structure...twice. I had no choice but to go through every single sequence and open every VI. Once opened there were three that did not have the correct directory for a sub-VI and need saved. There were no errors due to a Labview mismatch. For some reason these three VIs did not save the sub-VIs new directory therefore causing trouble during my TestStand deployment build process. The thing I find odd about this is there are hundreds of other VIs that use these same sub-VIs in the same new directory that mass compiled fine. I am continuing my TestStand deployment build process and I will see how it goes from here. I definitely got further, after finding these three errros, than I have before. Thanks for the help.
