I cannot move songs around within a playlist ???

How come I cannot move songs around within a playlist????

You need to sort on the leftmost column of numbers, then you can move the files around.

  • Anyone know how to move the order of songs around within a playlist?

I'm am trying to put songs in a playlist in a specific order (for an exercise routine).  Anyone know how to do that without deleting them all and dragging them over in the correct order?  Seems like you ought to be able to drag and drop to change the order but that doesn't seem to work.

You can drag them in the order that you want using iTunes, I just tried doing it and it worked.
You can also sort using the column headers. Whatever order you have them in the playlist, they will sync to the iPod.

  • How can I move songs around in my playlist?

I used to be able to press and drag but that doesn't seem to work anymore. Thx

    Bergsteiger,
Open the playlist.  View > View Options, and set "Sort By" to "Manual Order."  Then you can drag songs up and down to order the playlist.

  • Moving songs around in itunes playlists

Click on the header bar for the numbers column on the extreme left. It should change colour and a little triangle should appear.
Now you can move songs around to different positions.

  • I cannot move songs from my library to my iphone

I cannot move songs from my library (CD's that I own) on my laptop to my iphone

They are not moved, they are synced.
What if anything happens when trying to sync content to the device?
Is it actually selected to sync or are you trying to manually manage content on the device?

  • Cannot move songs from 'Purchased' playlist on my iPod (touch 8gb)

Soooooo I've purchased a handful of songs on my ipod touch and I cannot move them back to iTunes or to another playlist.
They are all listed in the Purchased playlist from the device.
Only one shows in the Purchased on [device] under Store in iTunes.
Also, they show up under the playlist in iTunes I moved them to but not on my iPod.
I've updated my iTunes software and my iPod, as well, without progress.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if there is a larger issue at hand.

Are the chapters of the podcasts separated as individual files or are they a part of a single large file?

  • I can no longer move songs around in my library or playlists

I used to be able to drag and drop but now all I can do is drag. I'm not sure what option I may have accidentally checked or unchecked. Any advice on how to get this functionality back is greatly appreciated. Thanks

there is no numbers column in the library
    Correct.
If you are talking about reorganizing the songs in the library, you cannot move them up/down when viewing the library. You can sort them on the columns.
You can drag them up/down in a playlist if you select the first column with numbers before the track names.

  • Missing numbers on left hand side, which allow me to move songs around

This has happened before and i was able to fix it but it's been so long that i've forgotten and i decided this might be quicker than trying to figure it out myself, since it took forever the last time, lol
When i'm looking at music that is sitting under the "Purchased" icon under the "Store" heading...the left hand side column have numbers in it which allow me to move the songs around in any order i want them. I had them set up under my main library under iTunes 6 but when i updated to 7 i lost them all and now i can't drag and drop the songs into the order i want to hear them if i'm hitting play on the first song and listening in the order i put them for however long i choose to listen.
Now i've got my ipod playing 14 hours a day at work and i want to listen to my music in the order i want. However, when i'm looking at my music under my ipod within itunes, i don't have the numbers on the left hand which allow me to move the music around to my liking. What i now have on my ipod are songs done alphabetically per song name which is NOT what i want.
When the numbers disappeared from the left hand column, i lost the ability to drag my songs around.
    Help Please, anyone!
    PC   Windows XP

nm, i figured it out for myself. Let me just say that having to make a playlist when the music you listen to is all right there on your ipod is about ********!! WHY would you have to make a playlist with the SAME music that is in your main music file just so you can move the music around?!?!?! Completely Stupid!

  • Cannot move original downloaded files into playlists - Please Help!!!

Got my ipod 5th installed it, connected it. It then automatically copied all my songs from My PC to the Ipod. But now they are not in playlists just in the root of the library. I then went in and created playlists from itunes and I cannot drop and drag. Al my songs are listed but when I drop and drag to the playlists nothing happens. I am able to copy music from my CD's into my newly created playlists but cannot move the originally first downloaded songs into playlists. Can anybody help me out, greatly appreciated. And yes I followed the directions for the ipod manual, did I miss something? Any help is appreciated.

FCP captures HDV in native format, which does not work in FCE. FCE only works with HDV in the Apple Intermediate Codec.

  • I can't drag and drop the songs around in a playlist I made

I just made a new playlist and for some reason I can't drag and drop the songs around to change the order. I have two other playlists and I can drag and drop the songs in those playlists just fine. How can I fix this?

Select the first column before the track title.

  • How do I move songs around in my Itunes?

I used to be able to change the order of songs in my library and playlists but I can't anymore. How do I?

However, sometimes the songs from a certain album by an artist are out of orde
Make sure the ID3 tags are all correct.
I'd rather hold ctrl, click the ones I want, then create the playlist from the selection, and finally arrange the songs in the order I want them in.
If you'd rather do it that way, why are you asking how to do it a different way?
You need to select the playlist and then the column before the song title.
If you have any other column selected, you cannot drag songs into a different order because it is sorted on that column.

  • How do I move songs around

    Thanks

First of all, if you are trying to drag songs from one position to another, that can only be done in a playlist. You can't do that in the iTunes Library list view, all you can do in there is re-order the songs by clicking at the top of any column. If the songs are in a playlist open iTunes then click on the playlist. Click at the top of the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.

  • Upgrade itunes 11 now can't move songs around in plaits

itunes 11 will not let me move songs from playlist to nrw playlist

Make sure to select the heading of the left-most column of numbers, the Play Order column, before attempting to drag tracks up or down the list.

  • Cannot move applications around dock

I used to be able to put iphoto and itunes together, etc etc
Now I'm stuck with them in an order, and I can't move them around.
    any ideas ?

    Hi everyone.
I think in Leopard we can still easily move and re-arrange the positions of the icons in the Dock, unless the Dock is actually locked as mentioned in the above replies by another program or through Terminal.
But I notice one little Dock behavior in Leopard that might "explain" why we thought it is harder to move/arrange the icons: I think Leopard has made the icons a little more "stubborn", or rather, "harder" to move than in previous OS. If you click on one icon and try to move it, positioning it roughly parallel/same height between the left and right icons, you'd notice the icon do not move, i.e. you can place it in a new position as you wanted; But if you click on the intended icon and "force" it slightly towards the bottom of the Dock pane, like as if almost forcing it out of the screen downwards, then you'd discover you can start positioning it in a new place in the Dock.
Hope I am making some sense here.
    Cheers
