I cannot open all email attachment files(pdf, doc, etc) in Mail on my New IPad.

I cannot open all email attachment files(pdf, doc, etc) in Mail on my New IPad. I installed all viewer apps but I am not able to click and hold to select the option of viewer apps to open the files. I dont get the "open with" option when I click on the arrow in the menu bar. I can open attachment files on G-mail website from Safari though. It is really ridiculous that I cannot open the files from Apple Mail app! What's wrong with it!!

We cannot possible know what's wrong with it. But we can offer suggestions that might help.
Try resetting the iPad - its like rebooting a computer.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This might help as well.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again

  • Email attachment file support - TIF etc

Is anyone aware of any new applications for TIF (tagged image file format) support for email attachments? I frequently receive them but the iPhone was unable to render them prior to 2.0. As of the 2.0 update, I can open one I received today, but it displays only the first page inline. Trying to forward the email with the attachment is ineffective and the iPhone renders the attachments useless.
Anyone with any knowledge on this matter, or if you've heard of any rumors, please respond. I'd think this is a business critical issue for Apple to address - in fact, if there is no viable support for this format, I'm going to have to dump the iPhone. Ouch!

I am having the same issue - however, I am not sure it is strictly a 2.0 problem.
I am having the issue using Safari to open any attachment that is a .tif file - and it only renders the first page...
After browsing other posts on this problem - some have mentioned that Safari doesn't support .tif files that have more than one page -
So my question is were you able to open multi-page documents in Safari before?

  • How to Export 199 Emails from Gmail to File (PDF, DOC, ETC). And Possible to do Without Using Mail App?

    Greetings Everyone.
I have 199 emails in gmail to be saved to a file. I do not use the Mail app on the iBook. I found a way to use a gmail gadget, but it would mean going into each and every email and saving as a document.
    Many thanks in advance.

You may have an email file that cannot be played by QT. But then you did not provide the exact wording of the error message.
QT cannot open all types of files. You might try installing the QT plug-in Perian 1.2.3 that will enable QT to play many more types of files.
What exactly is the type of file you have that you cannot open with QT? You can try using a third-party player such as VLC Media Player 2.0.1 or MPlayerX 1.0.14.

  • Had my Nikon D600 recently in for the updated service call. Camera works fine but Photoshop says it cannot open my RAW (NEF) files now? It worked fine before and I have done all my updates.

Had my Nikon D600 recently in for the updated service call. Camera works fine but Photoshop says it cannot open my RAW (NEF) files now? It worked fine before and I have done all my updates.

The only thing I can think of is if you got a replacement D610 as rumored here:
    http://nikonrumors.com/2014/01/27/nikon-is-replacing-some-d600-cameras-with-new-d610-model s.aspx/
In that case, you would need the new version of Camera RAW or DNG converter as per Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras .
The other thing to check is if the files open in the Nikon native ViewNX software. If they don't it's time to call the service center.

  • I cannot open my email. All other functions work ok.

I cannot open my email. All other functions work ok.

Assuming that you mean that the Mail app isn't working properly as opposed to it not being able to download your emails due to account/password problems, then try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Cannot open Word document attachment in mail before sending.

Cannot open Word document attachment in mail before sending.
In Snow Leopard Mail 4, (Version 4.0 (1075/1075.2)) if I attach a word document to a message and, BEFORE sending the message, I double click the attached document to open it, to make sure it is the right one, I get the error "Mail was unable to save the attachment “Test.doc” to disk. Verify that your downloads folder exists and is writable."
The attachment is mailed correctly and arrives at the destination, but the ability to verify an attached document before sending it is essential. This has worked fine in all previous editions of OS X.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks - Lawrence

I have same problem. I've done the following testing to pinpoint where the problem lies and there are clues (see below):
    1. My machine had SnowLeopard installed "fresh" (i.e. disk reformat and installed cleanly)
    2. I have a comparison machine running Leopard (10.5.6) - essentially a mirror but with different OS
    3. Problem is triggered when creating new email, with a MS Word .doc attachment added. If you attempt to open the attached file in the mail (not yet sent) it produces the error message "unable to save file XXX.doc to disk. Verify that your downloads folder exists and is writeable"
4.However, once the mail is sent, the recipient can open the attachment without problems.
    5. I have run Disk Utility and all permissions are correct. My downloads folder exists.
    6. The problem is not present in Leopard (mirror machine other than OS)
    7. I have uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office. Problem still present
    8. I have deleted and recreated the preference files for both MS Office and for Mail. Problem still present.
    And finally...
9.The problem is confined to .doc files. It works fine for .pdf, .ods AND even for Microsoft .xls files.
So it may be a MS Word problem triggered by Snow Leopard?
Apple: if you can confirm this is a Microsoft problem it may be able to be reported to them as a compatibility issue?
    Hope this helps.

    Please!

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Open An emailed Excel file in Numbers?

Can I open an emailed Excel or Word file in Numbers or Pages, respectively? It's like the doc are locked in separate parts of my iPad and I can't get to them unless they're in iDisk. But can you email into iDisk?
I think you have drag a file into iDisk fro a computer and the it's available to your devices or other Macs on MobileMe and I assume iCloud.
So how do I work on/with files that are emailed to me on iPad?

I've done some homework and it seems you can't open an email attachment with Numbers or Pages on the iPad as short sighted as this sounds, but Apple Mail and it's iworks iPad apps don't integrate like this.
BUT DataViz's Documents To Go Premium ($19.95) does! It also supports cloud computing. So you can access and sync to iDisk and CloudBox among others. And it's spreadsheet is more sophisticated than Numbers. I wish I hadn't bought Numbers now. DTG's Word is pretty good too. But I really like Page's templates and integration with your photos so Pages is a keeper.
DTG is a suite so it's word processor and spreadsheet and powerpoint are all built in.
What I'm really surprised about is tha Microsoft doesn't have a ported version of Office. I haven't tried it's watered down version, but here it's light weight and not a good choice.
So as of now, it seems the best out there is DTG. As a loyal Apple user I wish Numbers was more full featured, nut it's not. So DTG it will be for the time being.
