I cannot open iWork '06 after successful download.

I have finally successfully downloaded iWork'06, after going through all the steps in forum discussion, and the program will not open in order to let me register or
use the application. When I double click on either the Pages icon or Keynotes, the icon appears for a fraction of a second and then vanishes. The computer makes a noise like it is trying to start something up and then stops. I had the trial offer of iWork in my initial software bundle. When I bought the new disc, I removed the trial one. I even tried to re download the bundled software that came with computer, but I am getting errors while downloading messages. What next?

Welcome to Apple discussions.
When you bought the new version of iWork, you didn't need to trash the trial version. What you could have done was to launch the trial version, then use the serial number from the purchased version. File that under closing the barn door after the horse has escaped. My guess is that when you trashed the trial version, you left some stray files around, specifically receipts and plist files. When you installed the new version, it "saw" some of these files and didn't completely install itself, thinking it was already installed.
My suggestion: do a Spotlight search on iWork, Pages and Keynote, then trash everything you find, and start over with the installation. It ought to work then.

    How did you buy it online? Did you buy a registration number from the Apple Store?
    Then you can download the Trial version from this link:
        Aperture 3.1 Trial 
    and run Software Update immediately after installing.
    Go to the Applications folder and delete Aperture.
    Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial.
    Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
    Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
    Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
    After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
    Cannot open aperture v3 after upgrading to  OS 10.6.8. 
    But what exactly is the error you get, when you try to launch Aperture? Maybe you need to do more than updating.

  • Can't launch Lightroom after successful download/installation.

    After I downloaded and installed Photoshop there appeared a button that read something like "Lauch App" next to the Photoshop icon in the Download Manager.  That worked smoothly and Photoshop is up and running.  Tried to do the same with Lightroom however after successful download/installation there is no "Launch App" button.  There is just text that reads "Up to Date" except it cannot be clicked and therefore does not launch the app.  How do I launch Lightroom?

    Disregard this, after launching the app with normal means i realized it was a stupid question.

    you can find many articles on how to repair mac disc permissions on Google. Just
    try googling it. Else you can always ask applecare. They will guide you with
    same.

    Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
    Re-launch Finder by logging out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
    If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer ones.

    Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open it.
    Or...
    Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitiion & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Permissions.
    Re-install if that doesn't work.

    .EXE files are not very easy to open on Macs with Mac OS X 10.4.3 or earlier. They typically require an emulation program to run Windows.

    Newer Macs are more capable of running Windows, and can do so natively. You can attempt to find a 10.3.9 compatible alternative compatible application as well. Audio and video files don't play very well on emulation, but work fine in Windows native compatible Macs.

    Hi there,
    I got a question from one user having issue with opening Excel file after exporting from Disco Plus.
    The report has been using for a while and he is using Excel 2003 version and Discoverer 10g(10.1.2.2), he never got this kind of error before, just recently got error.
    After exporting from Disco Plus he saved file on his desktop and when he tries to open the excel it says "Cannot be Accessed, can be corrupted...." but this is not from network drive since he saved file on local desktop or C drive.
    Also not for all reports, only this particular report and only specific parameter, for example for parameter 2008 Feb opened successfully, but for2009 Feb he gets this error when trying to open excel.
    i tried in excel 2007 also , i dont think this is Excel version error, am not sure.
    Also after go live last week (we upgraded database from 9i to 10g) but i am not sure this causes ,since for one parameter working, for other parameter not working.
    Actually we should get one window for Macro when we try to open excel, but he is not getting it seems.
    Any ideas/thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your quick response on this.
    Yes, we can export to other formats as well, but actually exporting is working, after saving the file on our local desktop/drive and when we try to open we get this kind messages or we cannot open the file, we should get message window for Macro to enable/disable but for this report we are not getting this either,
    Also this happens only for specific parameters,like i mentioned above it works I mean excel file opens for one set of parameters but for some other set of parameters cannot open.
    For example :- when we enter FEB 2008 it works, if we enter FEB 2009 it won't open the file.
    This is weird
    I am still working on this issue, may be better to recreate the report again might be helpful,
    Any ideas/comments/thoughts would be great

    I launched my itunes and had a message asking did I want to install the updated version. When it finished installing it said it needed to shutdown and restart - which I did. When I tried to reopen itunes from the shortcut it said it cannot open it coz some files are missing. Can anyone help please. I have contacted apple and although i've had my phone for over 90 days they have emailed me steps on how to uninstalled and reinstall safely.     First of all, see if you can uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.
