I cannot open my iTunes

This is the message I get:
This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
I tried to repair iTunes instead of removing it and installing a new iTunes. This is what I get:
Error writing to file: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.Resources\ar.lproj\CleanLyrics.png.
Verify that you have access to that directory.
I have over 80 gigs of music. All files are backed up...I just can't imagine trying to rebuild my playlists if I have to delete and reinstall iTunes.
HELP!

Error writing to file: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.Resources\ar.lproj\CleanLyrics.png.
Verify that you have access to that directory.
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • After installing itunes update I cannot open my itunes  music files.  How can I fix this problem?

I installed the latest Itunes update and after installing I cannot open my ITunes music files.  How do I fix this problem.

    Hey Joey BOD,
It sounds like you can't open your Music app on your iPhone after the update? First, try force closing the Music app if it is open in multitasking, which you can find out how to do here:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137
And if that doesn't work, I would reset the device:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
via: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
And if that doesn't resolve the issue then I would backup the device to iTunes and restore it. Just be cautious and back up first, since restoring deletes all content and settings:

  • New itunes cannot open old itunes

I just installed the new version of itunes. Now I when I try to open itunes, it says that the new itunes cannot access the itunes library because it was created with an older version of itunes. PLEASE HELP I need to find a way to open my itunes!

Why did you install such an old version?
Did you already have newer version is installed?

  • I do not have any problems when downloading the new itunes. 10.6.3 version, but once "installed" I cannot open the itunes app by clicking on the icon, help please!

When attempting to download the new version of itunes I was able to complete the download without a problem but cannot open the icon when everthing is done. I unistalled everything and reinstalled, I followed all the trouble-shooting guides, I attempted to download an older version and nothing is working. Prior to attempting to download this "new and improved version of itunes" everything was working fine. Unfortunately I had to update when I got a new iPhone and wanted to sync it to my old library and needed an updated version of itunes.

    Restart Computer.
Refer steps here to delete SC file(s):
    Win7/Vista http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    WinXP http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1776
Then proceed to repair your QuickTime. START > CONTROL PANEL
WinXP - Add n Remove Programs
    Win7/Vista - Programs n Features
highlight QUICKTIME and click CHANGE then REPAIR

    Hi tiongwoei,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be very frustrating when you cannot access iTunes. There are some very good troubleshooting steps available for this exact situation that should be able to get iTunes working as expected for you. I know you said that you have already removed iTunes and its components and reinstalled fresh; please make sure that when you uninstall, you uninstall the components in the correct order. There are other very important steps to follow as well outlined in the attached article.

  • I cannot open my itune, i cannot open my itune

    i cannot open my itune

I use a Macbook Pro & I also recently have been unable to get Itunes to open when I click the Icon or choose OPEN.  Nothing happens.  Recent Mac updates from Apple & a Plug In update from Adobe were the last things downloaded.  Don't know if those are the problem or not.

  • I cannot open my Itunes? I keep getting this message: "The Itunes app could not be opened. An unknown error occurred. (-50) Help! I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall, but get the message that ITunes.msi cannot be found.

Why am I getting this message when I try to open my ITunes: "The Itunes app could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)."?

These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • I am told I cannot open my Itunes account because another user has it open.

How can I open the Itunes account when am the only user and don't know of another user on my account?

Your account might of been hacked, or it could of been an error. Try signing in again later, and if that still there, contact apple, or at last resort, you could make a new apple ID.
    Hope this helps.
