I cannot open my pictures...

HP Pavilion p6000 series. I cannot open my pictures, documents or recycle bin Help!

Hi,
Try using another pc and download superantispyware (free edition) and put on a cd or flash drive and attempt to install it on this pc and run a full systems can.
You may also need to run a virus scan using your antivirus program.
What happens when you try to click my documents or recycle bin? Any errors or windows comes up? Does the pc freeze?
I'm assuming your mouse and keyboard work fine.

  • Cannot open two pictures at the same time - computer crashes

I have PSE7 and Windows7.    I cannot open two pictures at the same time.  When I go to open the second picture it crashes PSE7.  Anyone know how I can open two pictures at the same time?  What is the fix?

    Hello Shawbrah
    Thanks for your reply.
Yes, your method is actually the only workaround for a workplace with PSE7, but it isn't a solution for our enterprise network/domain.
    There are different problems:
We have several computers with PSE7 installed. It does not make sense to manually install a local TCP/IP-printer on each PC.
We have many fluctuation in our company which means that the workplaces will often be moved and the PCs will often be replaced.
If the employees are printing over a local printer, our centralized printer monitor solution does not recognise print volumes.
The printers which are defined on our print server have special tray settings and these settings are "linked" to the core business application. Users should not be able to print with other settings, this could end in a chaos.
Finally to work with PSE in our company, there is no other way than upgrade to PSE8...

  • After loading Lion I cannot open some pictures. I get Unsupported Image Format. It tells me picture was taken with Canon EOS Rebel with unknown lens

After loading Lion I cannot open open some pictures in Aperture. I get Unsupported Image Format, all files even the ones I can open are .JPG. Also it tells me picture was made using Canon EOS Rebel with unknown lens.

You mention that 'most' of your files are DNG. Try
running the effected files through Adobe DNG
converter again and then import your reprocessed
files to Aperture and see if the problem persists.
I had a problem with a batch of D2x files converted
to DNG which had been metadata tagged by
    PhotoMechanic (the evil app).
B.T.W. You mention that you had been using Bridge.
Are you getting any of the embedded XMP metadata
coming into Aperture during the import process?
Already tried that multiple times...no luck. I'm wondering though if it might be related to metadata as you suggest. I'm still trying different things to see what happens.
I was able to alleviate the problem on one set of images by painstakingly searching my external drive for the oldest backups I could find - CR2 files from before DNG conversion. I then ran those through DNG Converter and tried importing them again (this time, I embedded NO thumbnail, but I'm not sure if that made the difference - I think it was more likely a fluke in the original conversion that caused the problem). This time, it worked.
Now, the big problem is that I still have a couple hundred images for which I can't seem to locate the original CR2 files. I don't typically keep them after conversion, as I don't have the space for both.

  • Cannot open iPhoto pictures in PSE12

I have a Mac with OSX8 and have previously been using PSE9 without any trouble.  I've recently installed PSE12 but it cannot access the pictures in my iPhoto library for editing, even though I've changed the iPhoto settings to use PSE12 as the external editor.  When I right click a picture in iPhoto and then click "edit in external editor", PSE12 opens but the worksurface is empty, and I can't figure out how to open the picture for editing.  I have no problem editing photos that are on my desktop, so the problem seems to lie in communication between iPhoto and PSE12.  I never had this problem with PSE9.  How do I solve this?

You have probably chosen the logical file instead of the correct one. You want to choose this file:

  • Why Lightroom (Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CC) cannot open RAW-pictures taken by Canon G7X? When its possible?

When Lightroom (Potoshop Elements and Photoshop CC) can open RAW-pictures taken by Canon G7X-camera?

That is a new camera and you'll just have to wait and see when support is added. There's never any announcement ahead of time.
In the meantime you can either shoot RAW+JPG and import those, or convert to TIF using DPP and import those to Lightroom.

  • I cannot open my pictures in iphoto to view them larger

Since updating to the new iPhoto, I cannot figure out how to open my thumbnail photos. It is so frustrating. I tap, I click, I double-tap and double-click, I right tap and right click...nothing. Can someone help me figure out this stupid issue? I feel like an idiot but I know I am not doing anything wrong. I just want to view my photos larger!!!!

Well, when I go to click on an individual picture that is in my photos section, nothing happens. It won't even open up all of my pictures when I go to click on an event in the event section either. The picture gets highlighted but it won't open up into a bigger view or open the events folder to view other pictures within that event. I tried double clicking, tapping, everything. I tried to look on iPhoto Help, but there is nothing about this. I don't know why this is becoming such a problem. I can open other things on my computer just fine when I tap or click on it.

  • Cannot open older pictures in iPhoto library after upgrade

    Hey there!
I just updated my iPhoto from 6.? to iPhoto '08. When I open it, I can access events & pictures that are almost a year old, but no older. When I open the iPhoto "package" on my desktop, I find all of my older photos, still intact. How can I access them from iPhoto '08? I can't import them, because when I open the import option, the iPhoto library is greyed out (un-select-able). Do I need to create a new library?

I think part of my problem is that I edit in Photoshop & "save as"
    This is unnecessary.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends +a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.
The problem with renaming in iPhoto is that it doesn't change the name of the original file, unlike in Bridge.
But are you trying to rename the Picture or rename the File? In iPhoto (and in photo apps in general) you add a title to the Photo, not rename the file.
And if I edit in Photoshop & "save as" under a different name, does that show up in my iPhoto library, or do I have to import it?
If you create a new file you need to save it to the desktop and afterwards import it.
If you want to have different versions then duplicate the pic before sending it to Photoshop. Or use Aperture.
Can I do that iPhoto? I'm thinking I could create a different library on my external, import older photos into that library, then remove it from the laptop library, is that possible?
Yes. Easiest and best way: use iPhoto Library Manager to create the second library and then move the selected pics/albums/events to the archive library. It's the only way to do this and preserve all the versions and all the metadata.
If I put a photo in the iPhoto trash & empty the trash, does that remove that photo from my laptop for good?
    Yes.
Am I correct in assuming that the "modified" images are copies that iphoto has made & any editing I save is on those images?
Close but not quite. When you edit a pic either with or via iPhoto, then iPhoto creates a copy of the original and saves the edits on the copy. If you subsequently re-edit with iPhoto it reverts to the original and applies a sum of the edits, so you avoid generational loss.
So if I edit a photo and save it (not "save as"), but I want to revert to the original, iPhoto just accesses the copied image from the Original folder?
It reverts to the Original file and destroys the modified copy.

  • I cannot open several pictures from my old iPhoto library which I saved on an external HDD.

    Hi,
I saved my old iPhoto library on an external HDD and successfully opened them in past several times. But now with iPhoto 11 v. 9.2.3 all I can see is a black triangle (image attached) for majority of my pictures and folder from my old iPhoto library on the external drive. Several times I tried rebuilding iPhoto library but that did not help.
I am runnig MAC OS X 10.6.8 with most recent updates.
Thanks in advance for yor help,
I must admit its highly frustrating. Sometime I feel, am I still using the same Apple product or it is something else .
    Image:

that indicates a disconnect to the original photos - have you deleted any photos using the finder or run any clean up software?
If no then download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  and use the rebuild command in the free trial to create a new library leaving the existing one as is

  • I cannot open a picture attachment with the extension: .jpg.Ink

I am unable to open an e-mail, in gmail, with picture attachments. The extension is .jpg.Ink

The .Ink extension doesn't appear to be a picture. Remember that the very last .something is the real filetype so file.jpg.txt is a text file and file.txt.jpg is an image file.
[http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/ink This site] lists the programs that can open .ink files.
If you already know all this but think the attachment should still open, or it works in other browsers please let me know and we'll take it from there.

Cannot open any pictures in any format from My Pictures to PSE11. I have downloaded correct plug-in for my camera. Error says. Not Valid Win32 application. Please advise...gettting quite frustrated.

You need to post in PSE forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements
Give OS used.  Should not need plug in to open picture unless raw extension.
