Could you please tell me what Acrobat pro as well as OS version are you using.

Cannot open .pdfs. Updates downloaded. Please help
"There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
This is the error message I have been getting for the last three weeks or so. Cannot open .pdfs on MacBook Pro. No changes have been made to computer. Please offer suggestions. Adobe Reader updates have been downloaded. Please help! Thanks. If Reader and Preview can't open them, they are most likely damaged.

I have Windows 7, 32-bit OS. I have Adobe Reader X. This problem was intermittent over the last month, and from day before it has stopped responding.
1. When I click the program icon or a PDF document, the cursor becomes busy, but no response.
2. When I check the Task manager I can see that there is a process for AcroRd32.exe.
3. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
4. Have tried to go back to Adobe Reader 9.5.
5. Have tried to move the plug-ins folder and opening.
6. I have tried to start by pressing Shift key immediately after clicking the icon.
7. I disabled McAfee and tried
8. I have uninstalled programs that I had installed over the last month - evernote, skype recorder, facebook messenger.
In all the above steps I have restarted the laptop.
All of these have failed to show the PDF docs or to open adobe reader.

I am trying to open PDF files posted by immigration Canada and when I click on their links I am told that Adobe Reader is out of date and requires version XI which I already have. What really throws me off is the fact that I am able to download half of the files (which require the same specs), while the other half are inaccessible. Does anyone have any recommendations?
To be specific, if you were to visit: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/work-students.asp
look under "This application package includes"
I am able to open:
Document Checklist [IMM 5583] (PDF, NaN undefined) May 2014
Use of a Representative [IMM 5476] (PDF, NaN undefined) March 2014
But not:
Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker [IMM 5710] (PDF, NaN undefined)June 2014
Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union [IMM 5409] (PDF, 47.92 KB) April 2004
Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated! -
Cannot open pdf docs from within Eudora. Registry problem?
My email client is Eudora, which has worked well for many years, but it recently lost the ability to open pdf email attachments in Adobe Reader from within it.
I have tried the standard file association solution and that has not helped.
I am posting to see if anyone thinks my problem is caused by registry settings, and if so, if you can give me a lead on which settings to change and what to change them to. Here are details.
I am currently using Eudora 5.2. Adobe Reader 9.4 is my default pdf viewing software and OS is Vista Home Premium SP2.
I was recently given a nuance product, pdf converter pro 7, which set itself as my default pdf viewer.
I have succeeded in restoring Adobe Reader as my default pdf viewer (e.g., in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer), but now, when I try to click on a pdf attachment in Eudora, the file doesn't open and the following pops up in an error box:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel."
I have gone to the associations control panel and set Adobe Reader as my default program for opening pdf files. However that has had no effect on the problem in Eudora.
The attachments to emails in Eudora have the little Adobe pdf icon next to the file name and have a .pdf extension, but all I get when I click on them is the error message. If I right-click on the attachment's file name, I get a context menu, but if I click on "open with..." and then select to always open with Adobe Reader, the pdf attachment does not open and nothing changes.
If I try to use the context menu to do a "save as," to save the attached pdf somewhere on my hard drive, everything looks fine, except the pdf is not saved to the other folder.
Other files attached to my emails open fine from Eudora, as always (e.g., Word documents), just as pdf documents used to do for many years.
I can go to Eudora's attachments folder in Windows Explorer and open the attached pdfs from there, and they open in Adobe Reader and work fine. However, that takes time to hunt them down in the hundreds of attachment files, which I would rather avoid.
I tried reinstalling Eudora. The problem persists.
I assume nuance's pdf converter pro 7 hijacked an Adobe Reader registry setting, or maybe a Eudora registry setting, but I have not been able to find it and would not know what to do if I did.
Any suggestions for a fix will be appreciated. No, I can't, sorry.

Can't open pdf created with Adobe Acrobat Pro
I can't open a pdf (that was created with Adobe Acrobat Pro) using Reader 11. However, the file will open with an older version of Reader (10.1.4) on another workstation. Is there any way to resolve the problem?
Reader 11 is not available for general release. If you participated in the beta program, there is a place for this discussion which you have been provided. If you did not participate in the beta program, then you should not yet have access to Reader 11. I have just checked the Adobe website and it is not available to download from there.

Cannot creat pdf from Powerpoint using Acrobat Pro X
I cannot create pdf files from Powerpoint 2010 using Acrobat Pro X. I am using Windows 7 32-bit. There are no updates for my Acrobat Pro X and so the PDFMaker is up to date. When trying to save to a pdf, the program will crash. The problem signature from Powerpoint states that the problem name is "APPCRASH" and that the fault module named MPS.dll. HELP!
Here's a slightly better version.

Cannot opening PDF created with Adobe Acrobat 5 on Samsung Android device
Hi I have an number of links to PDFs on my WordPress.com blog home page (www.creationtonewcreation.com). These were created in Adobe Acrobat 5, with security applied that allows viewing and printing. They open fine on my laptop (e.g. with Google Chrome), but when trying to open on my Android mobile (Samsung Note 3 - a standard design) with Acrobat Reader installed, an error message appears 'The document cannot be opened because it is not a valid PDF document'. It is a valid PDF as it was created with Adobe 5 itself. Do you know what the problem might be? I have uploaded another PDF (not sure what this was created with) on my other WordPress.com site, and it downloads fine, so WordPress.com is not the problem per se. Many thanks for any advice anyone can give. Rob
Hi Robert,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused & will try my best to get this issue resolved.
I will recommend you to upgrade your Adobe reader to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your Samsung Note 3 mobile phone and then try to view the pdf files. You can download it for free from the Google app. store or you can refer to this link Acrobat Reader DC Learn & Support.
Let me know if you still experience the same issue.

I updated, and now i can no longer view any files on the web without downloading them first. it's very frustrating. want to go back to the way it was, but not sure how.
You shouldn't need both Acrobat and Reader. That aside, I suggest trying to open Acrobat and using Help>Repair. Also check the plugins or addons for your browser.

I get a message about changing the brower's plug ins I have no idea what this means.
You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.
*Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader
PDF files may also be found under another entry like Portable document. -

I cannot open pdf files that are maps correctly . Some of the data layers are missing. I get a warning message that there is an error in the document and I should contact the originator. I have both Adobe Acrobat and the free version of Reader but neither will open them. When I forward them to other clients, they cannot open them either but can open them from the original sender.
Open Tools/Options/Advanced/general/Config. editor, copy mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks into the search box, double-click the preference to make its value false, OK, restart TB, and see if you still have problems with pdf attachments.
For messages that have already been received in IMAP accounts, you can force a re-download by selecting the Message Source (Ctrl-U), then try to open the attachment. -
Can anyone help with this - do I have to uninstall Reader and then reinstall?
I have had a trial version of Acrobat X1 Pro - I have decided not to buy at this stage - for some time it has been conflicting with opening PDF docs after "saving as" from word 2007 - I uninstalled Pro X1 and now when I "save as" PDF from word 2007 to PDF it will save the document as a PDF but will not open the document to display after publishing - I have to got to where the file has been saved to view the new PDF document - this is really annoying - do I have to delete adobe reader and reinstall it - adobe needs to look at this conflict with acrobat pro as I have even gone it to properties and tried to have adobe reader as the default PDF program - the main issue is that I cannot view the PDF after publishing it from word 2007

Acrobat Reader 9 cannot open pdf attachement to email
My os is xp. After installing Reader 9, I cannot open pdf attahement to incoming email. The error message is "the file does not have a program associated with it", even though I have already associated pdf with Reader 9 in Folder Option. If I save the pdf attachement to a different folder I am able to open it.
Maybe I need to rever to Reader 8. If someone cannot solve the error message, maybe can tell me where I can get Reader 8 as it is not in the Adobe free download.I have no problem opening PDF attachments that arrive in my Outlook 2003 Inbox; they open fine with Adobe Reader 9. It may be an issue with your email client.
But if you think that Adobe Reader 8 will fix it, you can download it from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.1.3/enu/AdbeRdr813_en_US.exe - make sure that you uninstall Reader 9 first (and Acrobat.com & Adobe AIR).
