I cannot open PDF's from a friends new PC, to my MacBook. All other emailed PDF's are able to be opened. The attachments show up as "win mail.dat" files, that Adobe will nor open. What can I do?
This is due to windows encoding of the files for mailing. You need TNEF's Enough

Trouble opening pdf's - I have received several pdf's from a friend via e-mail (Thunderbird). Some of them open just fine but others give me the message: "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." My friend made sure that the files in question opened without issue on his computer (a PC). Further, I was able to open one of these "damaged" files on my Android phone, but I cannot open them on the Macbook Air. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -
I have two excel files I cannot open or delete from my desktop. One is titled 6ACAD200 and the other file is titled 8D73A700. How can I get these off of my computer?
From the names I'd guess they are temporary files. If excel is running, quit and try again. If they still won't move or delete reboot. If they still won't move or delete...kill a chicken at midnight under an oak tree?

I cannot open a file from lightroom into CC2014 unless I open it as a smart object. CC opens, just will not display my image. i am given an error code when I save an image, and can only save to my desktop or other locations, not automatically back into my lightroom.
I am using LR5 latest update, as well as CC2014

The trick seems to be to uninstall Photoshop CC2014 and to then reinstall it after having upgraded to Lightroom 5.5.

You can't "attach" images to emails. There's nothing to see in your post.
The forums are designed to be accessed through their web interface by logging on with your web browser. If you do it by email instead, you should know that no one will see your images, they'll just disappear into the ethernet…

LR5 supports that camera's raw files OK.
What is the exact error message?
What operating system are you using?
If the message says that the files cannot be read, it generally means that they cannot be written to the location(s) you've specified on the import screen. That can be because the disk is full or (more probably) that you don't have write permission for the folder or disk that you're trying to write to.

It's a way of opening the Raw files from your OM-D EM-1 without having to upgrade to LR5.
In short, you open the Raw files from the camera uing the DNG converter, convert the Raw files to DNGs. Then you edit the DNG files in LR4.4.

If the videos are .wmv files, VLC from VideoLAN will play them and pretty much any other media format.

Recently replace logic board. Cannot open software purchased from Ap Store.
The Power supply and Logic Board were replaced. Now I cannot open software purchased from Ap Store. Computer gave message this was purchased for another computer and go go Ap Stor. I did, and nothing suggested what to do??? Suggestions?
You only know a very small part of the story. THE ORIGINAL iMAC WAS ONLY JUST OVER A MONTH OLD! The original Appointment was screwed up by Apple Support(?). I was told to drop it off in the morning and return for the 3:15PM appointment, which I did only to find there had been no appointment made, but the case number was in the system. I was told 3-5 days only to be notified by e-mail on the third day the logic board (motherboard) was bad. Another wait. A week later it was ready and it ran from about noon until the next day about 11 AM when it had an update that required a restart where is promptly died during the restart. The Mgr of the Apple Store was gracious and had the computer replaced with a new one rather than trying something else. Perhaps, you think it is fun to sit in a noisy store for half an hour or more, but I sure don't. Where is Apple's QC??? China!
I owned a computer business for 15 years and never once made a customer go through this much trouble.
If my computers made it through a 72 hour burn-in and did not have a problem in the next couple of weeks it never did have a failure. My 15 year record of building computers had less than a 1% failure rate.
By the way, for your information if a new logic board is installed (I seemed to see several being done each visit) and the App does not recognize it, just uninstall it and go to the App store and re-install it. -
I cannot open itunes store from my iphone 4s. When I press the application icon it seems to be open at first but then automatically return to the main menu. What can be the problem?
Logout of the app store and iTunes store: Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Go back to home screen and reset the phone by pressing the sleep/wake and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears then release them.
Once phone has finished rebooting go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store and login with your Apple ID and password again. Then open the iTunes Store app again. -
Cannot Open Topology Services from client
Hi, I'm using LMS 3.2 and I can open the topology services from LMS server itself.
This LMS didn't use a DNS resolution
I can telnet from my laptop to port 42342 and 43242 using the LMS IP Address and Hostname, But unfortunately I still cannot open Topology Services from my laptop.
I already disable AV at my laptop and Ciscowork Server.
Looking forward for your advice.I would suggest you need to check again for hostname issues;
1) check the hostname of the LMS server with the command "hostname" in a DOS box of the server
2) from the client try to telnet to the ports 42342 and 43242 using the hostname from step 1); like this in a DOS box on the client:
telnet yourlmsServer 42342
3) check the entry of PX_HOST in the file
NMSROOT\lib\classpath\md.properties
(NMSROOT is your installation path; windows default: C:\Program Files\CSCOpx)
if the value of PX_HOST is different form the one in step 1) test if the mentioned ports are available using this name
4) if you cannot establish a connection with one of the names you have to fix this issue by either adding a DNS entry or adding the names to the clients hosts file -
I uploaded that new IOS 8.0 and now I cannot open my mail, Safari, or the new "TIPS" app. Does Apple have some sort of help, other than going to a store that is over 40 miles away?

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.
