Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X".
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but get the same error message.

Which version of OS X do you have? It's not clear from your post whether "installed an upgrade" means you just installed PSE 13 as an upgrade or you installed an update to PSE 13, like ACR 9 or 13.1. Please clarify.

Use Tony's suggestion. I am running it right now and it is awesome. I love Mozilla but they basically screwed all of those older Macs over. Come on Mozilla. These Macs still work, and there are plenty of people with them out there.

I am trying to install Firefox 4 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 and I get the error message "You cannot open the application "Firefox" because it is not supported on this architecture" Help!

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

Firefox 3.6.x is the last available from Mozilla for PPC Macs. <br />

    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4+ versions, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

  • You cannot open the application iTunes (11.1.4) because it is not supported on this type of Mac

After updating iTunes to 11.1.4 as suggested by automatic updates I get the message:
"You cannot open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac"
Why did it let me do the update then?
How do I undo the uodate to iTunes?
This is on a Mac Mini running OSX 10.6.8 with 1GB mem

    What processor do you have?
If it's a CoreDuo (as opposed to a Core2Duo), then you ave a 32 bit OS, and no... 11.1.4 won't run on a 32 bit OS.
    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
Back up your computer first, in case the wrong things happen.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  I can't provide details on this since I do not have a newer computer. With mine it is very simple but I believe on newer computers iTunes has been integrated into the operating system.  On mine I just go to my applications folder and drag iTunes to the trash.  See below for possible suggestions on how to remove.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20431349
Get iTunes 10.7.  Apple does not keep many old version up on its web site.  I always keep an iTunes installer on my archive drive so I can have access to old versions .  This one is hidden but it is on an official Apple site:
    iTunes 10.7 for OS X  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
You will have to rescue your old iTunes library from your Previous Libraries folder and rename it iTunes Library.itl because a newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file.  See:

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and
cannot easily find that folder. I did notice when I was booting up the LR software
that I could accept the site where LR usually is set up or choose a place. I am
thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.

  • CS4 "You cannot open the application Adobe InDesign CS4 because it is not supported on this archit

Just installed CS4. Ai and Ps open fine. i get this prompt with InDesign.
You cannot open the application Adobe InDesign CS4 because it is not supported on this architecture.
any clues on how resolve this?
    thanks!

I'm having exactly the same problem with InDesign from CS4 Design Standard (Photoshop and Illustrator both work), and I don't know what to do. I've called up the Adobe support line five times, and received five different answers, none of which have worked (and on three other occasions, my call was dropped, once after an hour on hold).
One of the Adobe tech support people said to me "None of CS4 works with either 10.5.8 or Snow Leopard. We will issue a patch for that soon" - which directly contradicts what Adobe itself says on this site. I also went to see a Mac Genius, who couldn't help either.
I have a 2GHz Macbook with 2GB RAM running 10.5.8. I've run the uninstall, and the Adobe Clean Script, I've repaired permissions on my drive (which isn't case sensitive), restarted, reinstalled, tried installing on an external drive and then tried downloading the trial, in case it's the install CD - nothing works.
Any suggestions, anyone? Might there be a problem with my library that is stopping the install? Something else?? I bought CS4 for InDesign primarily, this is not good.

  • "You cannot open the application "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1" Because it isnotsupportedon this architectu

I have a Mac OS 10.5.8, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and although I have succesfully installed the photoshop files, they will not open. When I try to open it the comptuer says "You cannot open the application "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1" because it is not supported by this architecture." Does anyone know what the hell this means or what I should do? Thanks

Emmasrisd has it ever worked on this computer previously?  If so what has changed did you install new software or make any upgrades to the computer?  Have you also tried removing the software and reinstalling?  If so did you receive any error messages during the installation process?  Finally if you have tried to uninstall did you remove the program using the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.

  • You cannot open the application app store because it is not supported on this architecture

My Apple store app will not open, and it gives me this error. What can I do?
"you cannot open the application app store because it is not supported on this architecture"

The Mac App Store application is damaged. Open  > About this Mac, and check which Mac OS X version you have.
If you have got 10.7 or newer, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting and reinstall OS X. Another option is to download the OS X installer from the Mac App Store and use Pacifist to install Mac App Store.
If you have got 10.6, first try reinstalling OS X 10.6.8 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US If it doesn't work, insert the Snow Leopard DVD, hold the C key while your Mac is starting up and reinstall Mac OS X. Then, use the link above to download Mac OS X 10.6.8 from the Apple site

  • Why is it when I try to load photoshop 5.5 it says "cannot open the application install 5.5 b/c the classic environment is no longer supported"?

What does it mean; "cannot open the application photoshop 5.5 because the classic environment is not supported"

It's not part of Mac OS X 10.5 on a PowerPC Mac or of any OS on an Intel Mac. You need to use Mac OS X 10.4.11 or earlier, or a newer Photoshop version.

  • I have been trying to move pictures to iphoto and am now receiving a message that "you cannot open the application iphoto because the classic environment is no longer supported.

I have been trying to move pictures into iphoto and am now receiving a message the say I "cannot open the application iphoto because the classic environment is no longer supported."

Launch iPhoto the the Option key held down and create a new library.  See if you can import those photos into it.  If you can then your current library is damaged.
If that's the case make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
       2.  delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
    Fix #3
Use  iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
