This category is for iPod shuffle. Is that the type of iPod you have, because your description of the problem does not sound like it's about a shuffle? If it's not a shuffle, what is the iPod model...?
There is music there and I can play it connected to laptop.
Are you doing the playing using the iPod, or are you playing the music using iTunes on the laptop?

Paldeng, thanks for the suggestion. I've done all that. I can connect to the server, but apparently they are not recognizing my ID and password. I can use the server program if I don't go through Mail (using the same ID and password). My mother in another state with another provider has had the same email issue, as also my husband on his laptop who uses the same internet connection I do. His worked fine until we had it repaired at the Apple store and all the original programs reloaded (with the required updates, I assume). We can receive email in Mail, we just cannot send.
I contacted my service provider, and we went over my connections. They said it was not their problem and connected me with Apple, resulting in a charge to me because my warranty is long expired. Apple swears it is not their problem, it is the provider, so here I sit. My son was able to fix my Mom's Mail (she's 97) and got my husband's working also, until mine went out, by tweaking connection descriptions and ports remotely. The thing is, we had not messed with any of those settings, so what changed? I just did not want to bother my son again, as he has many other demands on his time.
Since this fiasco with the Mail v4.6 update, I'm wondering if something else was updated that works well with Lion and Mountain Lion, but does not work well with Snow Leopard and Leopard. I think the problem I had with the Mail update was that my Mail program had been renamed to Mail (original), and therefore was not being recognized by the update. Perhaps they had another tweak in there somewhere that is affecting outgoing mail connections?

Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430 It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It's a bit hit and miss, Walter. Sometimes the box to enter text shows up straight away in the inspector under "text". Other times, although you click "text" in the inspector, there's nowhere to actually write anything.... then what you have to do is move the trackbar over the Title Box until you see the text boxes in the main Viewer. In the Viewer, double click a text box.... you can enter text there, but it's a bit flaky, but when you've clicked in it, you'll find that under "Text" in the inspector, the box for inputting text has magically appeared!
I'm not sure if anyone else has this trouble, but it is a bit of a pain!

Quicktime keeps wanting to upgrade, but it will not finish becasue it cannot find the file quicktime.msi. The file is in the folder where it thinks it is. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, but because it cannot find the file it stops. I have tried to run Quicktime but it says it is not there. How can I remove it so I can install it again.

It appears it is fixed. FYI. I went to Major Geeks and it said:

Just bought my first video from iTunes Store and should watch it with my son. I had to authorize, this and that for some time, but finally I got the video in my iTunes, but it was just a black screen. Nothing playing and no sound (of course). So I tried VLC and it was at least runing there, but no screen and no sound. Quick time said I had to authorize my iTunes acount first (which I had done several times before) and did it again with just the same result, nothing happening. What's wrong? I'm no geek so please help me out with this, I thought it should be easy piecy with a iMac and iTunes, well, hope it was a one in a million problem.

I am running os x 10.7.5, on a macbk, I have been using all the apps fine and not changed anything or run any software updates, suddenly my mail dows not think it can connect with the outgoing server for icloud and requests my password, which I give, but it repeatedly asks again and again. I have tried re-setting all the mail for icloud up again, and it thinks its ok, except the box keeps flagging up can't access outgoing server. I have checked it all a number of times, and I can access the icloud stuff including mail from http when I log in there. Anyone know why my mac will not accept my icloud password? suddenly I cannot get any icloud mail in or out, but I changed nothing. Why does it do this and why can't i fix it?

No carrier "automatically" unlocks at end of contract - many won't do it at all, even if requested. I don't know what your carrier's policy is since you didn't say what country you're in.
However, if I understand you correctly, you didn't change carriers so it doesn't matter if it was unlocked or not. Try the following steps, as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons for at least 19 seconds until the Apple logo appears
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
3. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
4. Replace SIM card (don't care what Telstra says)
5. Restore phone in iTunes as new, without using a backup
6. Take phone to Apple.

Trying to stream a QT video on the web but audio does not play

I've created an hour-long .mov exported out from FCP using QT conversion. I've saved the file to our sever but when you click the link on the web page the video plays great but there is no audio. When you go directly to the file on the server and open it, it plays just fine. Is this an export issue or a server-side issue?

I am exporting out as a QuickTime Movie format with H.264 compression. I've selected prepare for internet streaming and chose Hinted Streaming. It asks if you want it Optimized for Server or Make it Self-Contained. I've actually done it both ways and I can't tell any difference. We are playing the clips through QuickTime Player. Our server is a Windows 2003 R2. I talked with our IT guy about this and he seems to think that it possibly has something to do with the way I have the bit rate set up. Honestly, I am just using the default rates because I have no idea what to set them at.

When normally powering the phone, there would not be a loading bar, you would just see the Apple logo. You can try a reset of the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.
You can take the phone to Apple, by making an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the hardware checked. Apple handles warranty and post-warranty issues, not Verizon. Have Apple look at the hardware to see if there are any problems.

I have Iphones since they cam out buy IO7 on my iphone 4 is slow and frustrating. I sync itunes with sync window. I tried cable and wireless. I have enough space. If I have a playlist say with 200 songs it will say on itunes sync window syncing 200 songs however I only get 150 songs on my iphone. I have restored iphone twice, I have tried playlists and smart play lists. It seems not to sync the same songs all the time. Prior to IO7 in sinced all my songs. I see on the chats that this is a big problem. Do you have any solutions. the songs that dont sync are the same format as those that do.
