I cannot post web links

Since a few days I am unable to insert web links in my replies.
When I do I get a message saying that "You cannot create empty posts". It seems that answers containing web links are not accepted.
Previously I was able to insert links.
Does anyone else experience this? Has the policy of the forum website changed to not allow web links anymore?

  • Cannot access Web Link from Mail

When I try to access a Web Link from a mail message it is launching iPhoto and trying to create a subscription.  For the life of me I cannot find where I might be able to redirect this to launch Safari instead of iPhoto.  No idea how this was changed either?
    Can anybody help!

I knew it was sooooo easy, but I just kept glaning over it!!!  Thanks Linc.

  • In Firefox, I cannot access web links to PDF files. I'm told the browser isn't compatible. I have recent versions of both Firefox and Acrobat, and the pages open fine in IE.

Any website that send me to a .pdf file will not open if I'm using firefox. In order to print postage from usps.com, for example, an Acrobat window has to open, and it won't.

Pat, thanks for your reply. I finally had some time to look further into this problem and still trying to figure out. First to answer your questions:
what is your operating system & version? Windows 7 Professional
on what browser(s) does that happen? Google Chrome, Firefox, IE
does it happen for any PDF link, e.g. this? Yes, any link with a pdf extension
does it still hapen with the latest Reader version 10.1.4? Yes, just downloaded it last week and still the same.
Another thing I noticed is afer unsuccessfully trying to access the pdf link, the resulting blank page reads "Could not load Adobe Acrobat" (could not load plug-in).
I do have Adobe Creative Suite 3 installed, which of course provides for Adobe Acrobat; I'm not sure if there is a conflict there, but I might uninstall everything and then just try with Adobe Reader to see from there.
I hope some of this helps. I appreciate your efforts in trying to assist.
    Cheers,
    Vinnie.

  • Cannot open web links in mail

I have three mail accounts setup in Apple Mail app:  Gmail, work email and Me.com email.  Whenever I receive an email with a hyperlink in it I hover over the link and it displays the hyperlink address with "blocked" added to the beginning.  Once I click on the link I receive a message which says "Error:  No associated application could be found".  This happens no matter which email account I am accessing and works with both http and https type links.  I recall having a similar problem using MS Outlook on a Windows machine.  I am relatively new to Mac but am learning.  I am using an early 2011 Macbook Pro.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes it helped mostly.  My work emal is a government account and it will not open any links.  So, I think it is a security setting within their servers.  But I can open links in Gmail and ME.  Thanks for the quick solution!

  • Problem opening web links in a pdf

I work at a college and I have a user that cannot open web links in pdfs that he created himself in Acrobat 7.0. He uses Adobe Reader XI to view pdf's and Adobe Acrobat 7.0 to edit them. His computer at home and my own office computer can open the web links. Funny thing is, Acrobat 7.0 will open the links but latest and greatest Reader on his specific machine won't. Any ideas?

Make sure the URLs are complete and valid. A common error is to leave out http:// at the start, since that seems to work in browsers, but isn't a URL.
Other common errors are leaving spaces or other special characters in URLs, which are forbidden (but not all software blocks it).

  • Cannot share web page or link

While in Mac OS 10.8.2, Parallels 7 not running, while using Safari when I try using the Safari sharing tab to email web page or web link, I cannot.  Get dialog box which appears it is trying to get into virtual machine's Safari:
"The "Safari" application cannot be started.  The application is installed in a virtual machine that cannot be located.  Make sure that the virtual machine hasn't been deleted or moved..."
Since the virtual machine is usually not running, how can I get Mac Safari to respond as if there never was installed?

I found a fix and it deals with an issue I posted a few weeks ago.  I checked Mail's prefernces for the default email reader.  It was set on some random app.  When I mentioned an earlier post I noted that when setting the default reader the selection does not stick, it bounces around.
Once I reset the pref of default reader as the current Mail app, the Safari share function works as designed.

  • The page cannot be displayed while running the report with web link

    Hello,
I tried to run the report using a web link similar:
    http://hostname/reports/rwservlet?report=WRFTCKL.rdf&userid=use/pass@datbase&desformat=pdf&destype=CACHE&paramform=yes
I am able to see the parameter form, but after I entered some parameter and submit, I got an error as:
    The page cannot be displayed.
But if I run it with the paramform=no and attached the parameter/value pair at the end of the link, the report will show on the web.
    Anyone knows what is wrong?
    Thanks.

You won't see anything obviously related to iCloud, Jimmy. But if you go to the home iTunes Store page while logged into your iTunes Store account, you should see a Purchases link now under the Quick Links header. That's the only part of iCloud active at this time.

  • Fillable Form posted to website will not open web links in new window-wipes out data

Using Adobe Pro X, have a link to open a web link, but this is posted to our website and when a user clicks on the link, it does not open in a new window, so when they go back to the form, all the typed data is gone.  I do not see an option for the link to open in a new window.  Help!
    Thanks

    Ajlan,
I tested it with Firefox, which does not support filling in of forms and makes you open it with adobe reader, which it fine once you get to that point since you are no longer on the web.  I have Adobe Reader XI.   I am not aware of any clipboard policy.
I have actually found a fix that requires a java script that solves the issue.
    Under link properties/Actions/Run a JavaScript-input the below.
    app.launchURL("https://infoshare.jccc.edu/communities/toolbox/Desk%20Reference%20Manual%20Documents/per-d iem-and-mileage.pdf", true);
To truly fix this issue, I believe there needs to be an option of "in a new window" when you choose "Open a Web Link".
There are hundreds of individuals using this form and there is no way to know which browser they are using or which version of reader they have.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Acrobat Web Capture cannot convert javascript links...?

In Matrix (Multiple Listing Service) Acrobat Adobe 10 Standard won't convert javascript links in newly created PDFs Documents from Matrix.   The Error message is : Acrobat Web Capture cannot convert javascript links and the link often does not work correctly when opened in the web browser...
Is there any javascript download or work around program that can fix this problem?
    Thanks

Probably not. Pretty hard for Acrobat to handle all of the web JavaScript and possible function calls that could appear on a web page and be located in another directory.
If this is important to you, you can use the bug report/feature request page at adobe.com..

  • Cannot post images or links? Can you please verify my account?

    Hi,
I have updated my account with all my details and verified my email address via the auto generated email.
Can you please verify my account so I can post pictures/links.
    Thank you

If you are being told you cant post a link, or embed a picture (or any other restriction) you just need to post to this thread saying your account has not been validated
Look for the verify your account thread that is stuck to the top of the page.

  • Add web link to a PDF in preview

    Hello Mac World,
    I have a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.2
I cannot seem to find how to add a working web-link to my PDF in preview.  I have looked in  Preview <tools>,<annotate> and there is no LINK button
Please help me to know if I need to buy a new program or if I'm just missing something here... Ps.. it's not in View either.
    Thank  you for your help,
    sunshine_415

Open Preview, and check Help > Annotate a PDF.  It describes such things as adding a text bubble, etc.
There is no explicit way to add a link in Preview.  Preview is, after all, primarily a viewer with a few markup tools.
I happen to use a product called PDFPen which is available in the App Store to mark up PDFs.
I have no financial interest in PDFPen.  I am a reasonably satisifed customer.

  • How to post a link (URL) in "Apple Discussions"

You can shorten your links (URLs) by using HTML coding.
This is preferable when the URL is very long. Posting the entire URL can extend the width of a post beyond the range of many computer screens. This can make a post difficult to read, as it necessitates sideways scrolling.
This is the format to use:
    <a href="Insert URL Here">Type Title Here</a>
    The quotation marks are necessary.
This link Search Apple Support, would be formatted like this:
    <a href="http://search.info.apple.com/">Search Apple Support</a>
The title can be anything you choose.
To avoid typos, it is helpful to go to the web page you are linking to, and copy & paste the URL from the address bar of your browser.
