I cannot receive emails in Thunderbird from my new email account

I have a new email address that I have set up in Thunderbird exactly the same as the others, but although I can send emails from it, I cannot receive them?
(I get the error message: "Sending of password for user -email address here- did not succeed. Mail server mail.lcn.com responded: Authentication failed.")
It is not a problem with my hosting account, as I can emails in their webmail, I just can't get them in Thunderbird?
What's gone wrong? Can you help?

For several years, I routinely used Thunderbird to download (POP mode) emails from my previous Centurytel.net email account. I thought that these POP emails downloaded onto my computer via Thunderbird would later be readable, even though I closed my Centurytel.net email account. However, when opening Thunderbird (to try to read any), the Thunderbird software insists on first logging into that (now defunct email account) by username and password. Of course, now that fails as that account at Centurytel.net no longer exists. Try setting Thunderbird to offline - look under File on the menu.
Now if you move the messages to Local Folders, you can delete the account in Thunderbird and you won't get any further connection errors.

I found a solution accidentaly! Forward the message with the meeting request. Then close the message without sending it. You can open the meeting request now

I deleted my old Email account because I wanted to create a new one, and I did. However, when ever I send an Email from the Mail app on my laptop it says the Email was sent from my old Email and I just can not get rid of it.

I deleted my old Email and only used my new Email to set up the Mail app on my laptop. And the old Email is completely dead, hotmail.com says the Email no longer excists when I try to sign back in to it however my Emails remain saying 'Sent from Jordan [*old Email*].

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

You can only authorise the songs you purchase from the iTunes Store to play on five computers.
You can download and install iTunes (the iTunes programme) onto as many computers as you wish.
Two different things.
Assuming therefore, that your problem is that you have authorised five computers, but now no longer have some of them, you need to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise the computers you still have.
To de-authorise your computers, go to your account in the iTunes Store and look for the Deauthorise All button.

On each device go to Settings> iTunes and App store> Turn off automatic downloads of Music, Apps and Books. Now a purchase will only go to the device from which it was ordered.

Yes, I can read but just can't write DVD's. I get:
This disc can’t be verified and might be unreliable. Try again using a new blank disc (error code 0x80020063).
Originally I thought it was the old Moutain Lion DVD drive issue (but have had the drive recently replaced by Apple), so I tried creating a new account, which worked.
In the old account I have reset SMU, Pram... but no change.

You most likely don't need identities, at least not as Thunderbird uses the term.
Most of us would reply to an email address by replying "from" the address it was sent "to". I wouldn't reply to business emails using my private email address, nor would I reply to private email messages using my work email address. Email software generally goes out of its way to maintain this consistency. So you want to override this built-in behaviour. ;-)
You might find these add-ons useful:
Folder Accounts lets you associate an email address ("identity" in the broader sense) with each folder, so this can force the use of a preferred address.
Correct Identity reads through the message you're writing and picks out a relevant "identity" to use as "from:", depending on whom you are writing to. This helps me avoid using my personal email address to reply to business emails and vice versa. It can also flash up a warning if you try to use an "unapproved" email address in the "from:" field.
I have used Folder Accounts to override the default identity for one or two accounts which are used in a very specific context, such as reporting spam, but it has clashed with newsgroups. Of course, this may not matter to you.
Of the two, Folder Account may suit you best if you don't use Thunderbird to read newsgroups.

I received a spam message from my iCloud email to my hotmail account - what gives?

So I have my Hotmail email and iCloud (@me.com) account on my iPhone. Suddenly today, I received an email from my @me.com account - to my Hotmail account - this is very odd as I rarely-to-never use my iCloud email account. So I have a feeling either A. it was a genuine security breach or B. it's some weird hoax.
