I cannot receive files from Airdrop.

Do I need to change a setting or something to enable me to receive files?

Do you have Airdrop open when people try to send to you? If you do, but the person sending the files is told that they can't be sent, then try re-staring your computer, then opening AIrdrop in the Finder Window and giving it another try. Sometimes AIrdrop gets a little stuck.

I cannot receive files from my Buddies, I always get an error message

They can receive files I choose to share with them but when they try and share files with me and I click to download the file, it tries to download it but then an error message appears underneath the file name I am trying to download that reads "Unexpected Error ( ______ may not have responded in time)."
I get the same error message over and over and can never get the shared file(s). Is there an way to fix this?

IS this an Screen Name that you use that Log in to the AIM Servers ? (AIM or Apple email type ID)
If so in iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Server Settings have you set the Login Port to 443 ?
The reason I ask is that is below the threshold of port 1024
The File Sending/Receiving remains on Port 5190 using the UDP Protocol.
The Mac Firewall will allow all things iChat no matter what you change the Login Port to.
However for ports above 1024 you have to open them in your Router ?

Cannot receive files from other brands of phone through Bluetooth.

Hi, I'm having trouble with Bluetooth on my 8320 curve. I can Bluetooth music and picture files to Sony ericsson phones, but when these phones try to Bluetooth these types of files to me, even after pairing has been achieved, and passkeys entered etc., a message comes up on their screens saying that the 'connection has failed'. This has happened every time any files have been sent to me.
Could anybody help me with this? Many thanks.

Add internal bluetooth module for Probook 5310m, cannot receive files

Hi, I tried to add internal bluetooth module for my probook 5310m, which should be very similar to 4311s and 5320m.
I did installed the module and cable by following the maintenance guide, but there is something wrong about the driver so I cannot receive files through bluetooth from either my smartphone or my another laptop. My phone showed " The transfer is forbidden by the target device( which means 5310m)".
The bluetooth module I got is Broadcom 2070 bluetooth 3.0. My operation system is windows 7 ultimate 32. I tried driver package sp52773 and some earlier version but none of them works. I even let windows update drivers by itself, it still did not work. The only good part is my bluetooth headphone works perfectly and I can sent stuff out from my 5310m. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I really want to fix this since I use bluetooth a lot. I will really appreciate your help.

Cannot receive files automatically

I am running skype 7.0.0.102, ie 11 , on win7 desktop. The option "automatically accept incoming files" is checked. However I cannot receive files automatically from any contact. I work with time difference and this would be vital for me. Same problem on my win 8.1 laptop. Tried reset settings in ie, delete temp files...etc...What am I missing?

That's a weird selection of extensions.
By all means, no file is "safe": we're on Windows, and Windows by default hides the known extensions; and on the other hand, even non-misleadingly named files from that bunch can contain dangerous things (MSOffice file formats and JPG certainly can).
There's absolutely no reason to assume that a txt file is more dangerous than a doc file.
On MSN Messenger for example there used to be some kind of integration with the system antivirus service, that could be done in skype too (and I'm sure it's possible in a much better way, I'm sure). And then just allow autoaccepting anything. Like in Skype for Linux.
Though to be quite honest, it is not the IM software's task to keep the user's machine safe. And a resident virus scanner will notice the new file whether or not it's explicitly called by the IM, so let's just scrap what I said in the previous paragraph and let's get an unhindered autoaccept.

Adobe Bridge CC cannot obtain files from this device.

I am getting this error message when I attempt to upload videos to my Mac from my Canon 7D:
Adobe Bridge CC cannot obtain files from this device. Please be sure the device is properly plugged in and the battery is full charged.
Battery is full charged and camera is connected properly. I have restarted the camera, Bridge, and the computer as well. I tried reinstalling Bridge and it allowed me to upload 3 of the video files. Then the error message came back. There were a few RAW images on the camera that I was able to upload, but when I tried the video again I got the error message. I read a post about renaming the folder that you are saving to as a fix. I tried that as well, but it did not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Cannot delete files from my ipod shuffle!!!

I am new to using an ipod and i cannot delete files from my ipod, on itunes, it only shows the license agreement where the ipod files are supposed to be and no matter how many times i uninstall and reinstall itunes and agree to the license agreement i can't access anything else. can anyone help me at all i feel like a complete idiot!

Pressing return will get past this screen as there is a button at the bottom right of iTunes which you likely cannot see.

Traded in my iPhone for a different brand of phone. I had no idea that I had to sign out of iMessage before doing this. Now, my old phone is gone and my new phone cannot receive texts from people who have iphones and had me as a contact before. They try to send an iMessage and I have no way to receive an iMessgae now. On some server somwhere my AppleID still tells people they should send me iMessages. What is the solution to this issue? Deleting my AppleID would work to solve this issue, but I cannot ever delete the ID? What can Apple do for this?

If you did not erase your apps and data before getting rid of your old phone, try using Find My Phone and erasing everything remotely. See if this works.

I cannot transfer files from my MacBook to my external hard drive anymore.

I cannot transfer files from my MacBook to my external hard drive anymore. The device responds with error-36 about documents being unreadable and unwritable. Previously the device worked fine.

It still doesn't seem to work.
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “POLITICS COMPARATIVE POLITICS IN GLOBAL WORLD” can’t be read or written.

I download photos to my computer using a Kingston downloading device.
Since installing Mavericks the above message comes up and will not carry out the download.
Is this a known problem with Mavericks and is there a remedy?
I would say that using the same device my photos download perfectly on my MacBook Pro.

The MacBook Pro is not running Mavericks and sorry about the double post.
I have actually solved the problem and the answer might be of use to others with the same problem.
There is a firmware update that will correct the problem.

There is a small catch in that the firmware update can only be done on a Windows machine but I have been told that once this is done it can be used with OSX9 .I have just done the download but I haven't checked this out yet.

I cannot receive files from Airdrop.
