I cannot receive mail , but can send it , any ideas ?

This is what appeared on my .mac account .
I am unable to receive mail .
Can anyone provide any details ?

If this is your iCloud email account, sometimes removing and adding it back will fix things.  To do this, go to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Mail, restart your Mac, then go back and check Mail again.  You may need to open Mail and go to Mail>Preferences>Accounts, select your iCloud account, select the Account Information tab, then be sure your .mac address is selected in the Alias drop-down list.

  • Cannot RECEIVE mail - But can send :(

Can anyone point out what I'm doing wrong here? I'm switching from MS Entourage to the new version of Mail. I've copied all the settings across from Entourage (which is still sending & receiving mail after the upgrade from 10.4.10 to 10.5) The connection Doctor is saying that everything is connected etc I've even set up a mail account to my home email, which i can send & receive from...
Account type is POP, email entered, password entered, incoming & outgoing mail servers entered, there is no error messages coming up. I create a message in Mail, addressed to myself - nothing happens... ten mins later I fire up Entourage, and receive the message I sent from Mail!?

Call your mail service provider. Have them tackle it.

Out of the blue today, my gmail will not send.  I recently upgraded to Mavericks. But I have not had problems until today.  I can receive mail but not send. Any easy suggestions of what to do?

I have been having the exact same problem for weeks now with gmail.  None of my computers will send Gmail (they will recieve) and my Maverick computers (10.9.1) show gmail smtp.gmail.com as "offline".  I had installed Post Box and apple support thought it was that i had too many accounts (I have 2 ipads, an iphone (latest iOs), a work and home iMac and a powerbook).  I disabled all my gmail accounts in Mail and still no go from PostBox either . I tried connection doctor and it just spins for outgoing and say I either haveve the wrong pw or login - I dont.  I terminaled and tested port 465 (according to gmail instructions) and it works (port 25 did not).  I can access gmail from the webmail and send/recieve mail from it and it shows up in my webmail outbox. It is configured for imap.I just cannot send mail at all from any gmail account from any apple device using Mail (or PostBox). I am at a loss as was the apple support person who wished me good luck very politely and sympathetically.

  • Exchange - Cannot receive emails but can send

Using Exchange 2007 - (CAS,Hub,Mail and Transport). I have all external mail coming in on http/s to webmail and outlook anywhere and port 25 smtp (mail.domain.com). Firewall NAT rule is External to Internal.
I then created a DMZ and now have webmail and outlook anywhere http/s going from External>>>>DMZ>>>Internal and it works fine. But when I changed smtp 25 to External>>>DMZ>>>Inside - I cannot receive any emails from
    external, I can send though.
I Only changed the way it is being routed, instead of going from External (mail.domain.com) to Internal (mail server). I have it going External (mail.domain.com)>>>(DMZ IP) >>>(Internal Mail server).
I didn't change any IPs or URLs or anything on the External or Internal and webmail and outlook anywhere are working fine through the DMZ.
I thought maybe it could be the external mail filter in the cloud that hits our external domain name but since I'm not touching anything external I don't see how that would matter.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi,
Based on my experience, improper permission groups would always bring mail flow issue. Thank you for sharing the solution here.

  • Not receiving mail, but can send it

Out of no where, my @att.net email is not receiving email in Mail, but it can still send it, no problem. I have the email address set up as a POP, with the incoming mail server as pop.att.yahoo.com (I also tried pop.mail.yahoo.com). I don't know what else to do to relieve my mail again. I know that emails are coming in because they show up on my blackberry and on yahoo.com, but not in Mail. Don't know what happened to make it stop receiving.
I don't know if this matters, but I now have 10.6 (but this problem started before I installed it).

Ernie, thanks, deleting MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 fixed my POP account but not the mac.com IMAP...continues to gear spin without end, even when account is taken offline...i tried turning off SSL (reverts to port 143 from 993 here in Aussie) etc, nor is rebuilding effective...account info does not seem to load either: spinning 'calculating sizes'...i think this relates to 10.6.1 but cannot be sure, definitely did not have this issue with 10.6...iphone/webmail continues to work unaffected.
any other prefs might be deleted to encourage mail to function normally?

  • Cannot receive BBM but can send

    Hi,
Today my BBM just screwed me up. I cannot receive BBM from particular people but they can receive my BBM. The status of the text is always D but they already read the text. Also, I cannot receive invitation to a group. I never get the invitation even tho they send it many times.
Any solution? I did remove the battery several times and wiped the data but still cannot receive message.

    Hello t36uh2007
I recommend to call your carrier first to find out is there something wrong with their network service as there might be temporary network problem related with your BBM problem. For BBM Group, you may need to update BBM app to the latest version from BlackBerry World.
Also, delete your phone number in your profile as this is open forums. Go to My Setting at top left of this page > Personal Profile and change it to your carrier name.
    Good luck.

  • Outlook on PC's not receiving mail but can send fine

I have found that my real issue with my virtual users is not the virtual domain at all. In fact it works fine with any Apple mail client. But all my Outlook and Outlook Express users out there on their PC's can't seem to get their mail. They can send but not receive and I have no idea how to fix this. I have ben researching and googling to see if anyone knows how to make this work but I haven't found an answer. Anyone know how to fix this?
They are all connecting via POP on port 110 and I show them connecting fine in the server log. But mail is not being pulled down from their mailbox to their client. I have APOP and Clear setup on the server for authentication but still not working.

I'm having fun answering my own questions. So I figured out that if the Outlook clients actually use their comxpwebchurchname then outlook gets their mail no problem. To use their alias of [email protected] doesn't work.

  • Intermittently cannot receive emails but can send.  Error message 'invalid username or password' for my pop3 email account.

Sometime when I am away from home, I can be happily sending and receiving emails on my ipad2.  Out of the blue I get a message 'Cannot get email.  Username or password invalid'.  On returning home it works again.  Sometimes I delete the account and readd it and this fixes the problem but I'm getting tired of doing that.  Can anyone help please?

    Check here:
    Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Verizon > SMTP > smtp.verizon.net > Password
Is your password set there?  Is it set correctly?

  • Cannot receive email but can send email

I have tried everything except deleting the account and re-installing.It says cannot connect to server. What should I do? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello, kenmac1960.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The easiest way to troubleshoot this issue would be to delete the account and add it back to the iOS device.  Below, I have included two e-mail troubleshooting articles.  The first article covers basic email troubleshooting.  The second article will assist you if the email account you are experiencing issues with is a Gmail account.

  • TS3276 My email is yahoo, can receive mail but can't send, any suggestions?

Just got new MacBook air. Having trouble with email, can receive mail but cant send. Any suggestions?

If you still have the MobileMe account setting up the Mail App should be very simple BUT if you do not you WILL need the incoming and outgoing server setting and the easiest way is to follow the email cheat sheet by apple
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277
You WILL need to contact your Email Service Provider for this

  • Problem: Cannot send mail unless Password is transmitted insecurely & Port is set to 587.. Can receive mail but can't send..

Problem: Cannot send mail unless Password is transmitted insecurely & Port is set to 587.. Can receive mail but can't send Code 501..
Need help with T-bird.. My OS is Win XP-64..Have been using Mozilla for about 10 years with little or no problems.. This happened when I upgraded to 3.17.. Spent hours on T-Bird diagnostics web site.. Called Comcast & talked to a net tech.. he ran some tests on his end & had me log into my Comcast e-mail account & all worked well,, so he concluded the problem was in T-Bird.. He had me change my port to 587 & disable connection security & authentication to none & I was able to send mail.. That was all he could do.. Comcast was working.. the problem is in T-Bird.. Can any one help with this problem.. I don't want to send mail with my password transmitted insecurely..
    Thanks
    Richard

It was not intended to be "snide". You said two separate things that at face value would be out of the ordinary.
I considered if it might be a typo for 31.7. Since 31.5 is the current formal release, I would have to thank you for volunteering to test a pre-release beta version. If it was truly 3.1.7 then it would appear that you have chosen, or have become stuck with a somewhat ancient version. In either case it's harder to reach out to you with any meaningful comments or advice. However I do watch various other sites and newsgroups and I don't see a clamour of distressed users, so it seems fair to suppose that this feature isn't actually broken in 31.7.
And you said XP 64. XP is obsolete and no longer supported and if there is a 64-bit version, then again you have set yourself apart from the mainstream.
I had a look at the comcast site and found some puzzling recommendations. Some users come here asking how to set up a secured connection in Thunderbird when it isn't offered by the server. Comcast are different, in that they mention the ports 143 and 587, and also 993 and 465. So far so good, in that security is actually on offer, but they also suggest that you enable SSL, regardless of which port is being used. It would be unusual and unconventional to offer TLS or SSL on ports 143 and 587. STARTTLS would be more credible on these ports.
Have you tried IMAP on 993 and SMTP on 465? SMTP on 587 with SSL, or TLS, is not impossible, but is improbable.
