Lets take first issue first: Apple does not charge a customer to 'keep' iPad access. That does not happen at apple. If you were billed and charged that amount of money from someone you were speaking to over the phone, you were not talking with Apple support. If you need to speak with apple support you are free to call them at 800MYAPPLE and they will talk to you for no more money than 19.00/ support event.

If he is an iPhone user it will send a iMessage to u because that is what his phone is use to so he will have to hold his sent iMessage down and click send as text message and it should send to ur new phone hope it helps

Switched to Samsung GS5 2 months ago, still not receiving messages from iphone users

I switched to a non iphone over two months ago and ever since then I cannot receive messages from iphone users sending in imessage format. They have to turn imessage on and off to be able to text me. This has been extremely inconvenient since I need to receive these messages for work in addition to my personal life. I have tried multiple suggestions I've read about, still nothing works. It's like this is apple's way of keeping customers using their iphone instead of switching for fear of not receiving messages. They won't really fix it either when we all know technology is advanced enough to fix this. HELP.

Follow the Account management options until you are offered and email contact.
Explain the issue via email as only someone in Support can now remove your iPhone Number from iMessages if it has not "de-registered" itself correctly.

I know there are many topics asking similar questions if it's googled, and I think I have read through almost all of them to no prevail. I know veterans of these boards probably get tired of seeing the same topics, but im desperate and will try to keep it quick. I really appreciate any help.
I recently upgraded from a 4S to a Galaxy S5 and have not been able to receive messages from Iphone users since. I still have my old Iphone. Here are the steps I've tried:
1) Ensure "IMessage" is disabled in my old phone
2) Unregistered my phone number with my Apple ID. I currently have no phone numbers registered with them
3) Changed my Apple ID Password
4) Unregistered my Iphone with my ITunes Account.
5) I also have a Macbook Air and a 2010 model IMac. I have also ensured I am signed out on those devices and my phone number isn't linked in anyway I could find.
6) I called Apple 3 Days ago and the representitive was very nice and professional but ultimately was incorrect. He advised me that the new IoS7 is more advanced and should check about every 12 hours to see if the user on the other end has an active IMessage account. He said to wait 24 hours just to be safe. He also advised people running older IOS systems could take up to 3-4 days to contact me correctly. Furthermore he said if after that time frame their phones still sent me IMessages instead of SMS then THEY were having problems and should call Apple. I just really doubt that is the case.
I have tested it out with 5 Iphones now with help from some friends, all running IOS7 and still no luck 3 days after the phone call to Apple.
7) I tried logging back into IMessage today on my Macbook and it worked, I was still able to send and receive texts from Iphone users. This seems like it should not be possible since it is not linked to my phone number anymore. It is logged into the same Email that I used to have linked to my phone number.
Now as others have said, If I have them hold down the bubble and send as text message 3 times their phone will remember and keep sending my texts, however that is unreasonable to ask everyone to do. There should just be a way to completely delete your Apple ID. Is there anything I'm possibly overlooking? I really appreciate any help.

I am right there with you. This describes my problem to a T. Only other issue I am having is group texts. Iphone users who include me in a group text still send as imessages as well, so even if I text them first and they reply, it send as an imessage. Get it together apple.

If you have access you your old iPhone, just sign out of Messages. If you do not have access to it, then change your Apple ID password.

This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. try these things
-reset your network by going setting> general>reset>reset network setting
-toggle airplane mode on and off
-then back up your information and then restore as new.
-still no service then if your within your limited warranty apple can replace it for nothing if not it is 199$ for replacement

Cannot receive messages from one person only...

My friend and I both have iphone 4s (with iOS 6.1.3). One day i stopped receiving messages from her. I can still receive an iMessage from her (but since neither one of us has data that is dependent on internet availability) but regular text messages won't come through. She can receive regular messages from me. I can receive regular messages from everyone else (including other iphone users). I don't know what happened. I have tried multiple suggestions i found online (including deleting and readding her contact, she did same, restarted phones, typed number manually, typing number twice etc.) but none of them work. I'm having a similar problem. I can receive texts from this one person but he cannot receive mine. I can also not call him but he can call me. He uses A T&T but does not have this problem when texting other verizon users. I have an Iphone 4S and he has an Iphone 5. This has been happening for 3 days. Ok so sorry about the long question but I just bought a galaxy s5 to replace my iphone 4s and im having trouble getting messages from iphone users. I tried turning off imessage, turned off find my iphone, resetting the device completely, and even created a new apple id but nothing has worked in the past 6 hours. The only thing I have left is to contact apple support but I really dont want to spend $20 to talk to someone if I dont have to... Any help at this point will be apprectiated. Thanks

At the risk of repeating some information, I'm leaving a full message here because I found many of the suggestions above to be vague and confusing. This is a step by step of the call that I just put in to Apple to fix this issue with Samsung S5 Galaxies not getting text messages from iPhones. This process should only be necessary if you no longer have possession of your iPhone; if you do, it seems from messages above you can go into your iPhone's settings and turn off iMessage yourself.
NOTE: According to Victoria, the Apple rep who was familiar with the problem and (supposedly, within the next half hour to 24 hours) fixed the problem, iPhone users who have updated to IOS 7.1.1 --not just 7.1, but the 7.1.1 specifically -- will not have this issue, as 7.1.1 fixed the issue causing this disconnect. However, any iPhone user operating under 7.1 or previous systems will not be able to send an S5 Galaxy user a text without an elaborate and individualized process to remove the former iPhone user's iMessage link. So, here's what I did:
1. Called Apple Support at 800-694-7466 (I could not find the section headings/descriptions mentioned by FoxFifth above on the website listed; the sections did not match anything on the page linked to that supplied url)
2. Followed the prompts, which involved giving my phone number (the one now linked to my Galaxy S5 but formerly to my iPhone 4s) and verbally requesting a representative at the appropriate time after the appropriate prompt. NOTE: disregard the warning about a $19 one-time service charge; it will not apply once you speak to someone.
3. Wait for a rep.
4. When the rep answers, say, "I just upgraded from my iPhone (4, 4s, 5, etc.) to a Samsung Galaxy S5 and can no longer receive texts from other iPhone users. I found online that this is because my iMessage is still turned on and I need you to deactivate my iMessage that automatically sends other iPhone users' messages to that old phone, which I no longer have."
5. The rep, who -- if they are anything like Victoria, who said she's done this "quite a lot today, actually" -- will recognize your issue. The rep will send you a text message to your new device, which contains an alphanumeric code that you must read back to the rep to authenticate it. At that time, the rep will put in your iMessage deactivation request; it should (here's fingers crossed) become active within 24 (some users here say 48, so be patient) hours, at which time the problem should disappear.
I hope this is detailed enough to help everyone else out there. Based on the Apple rep's familiarity with my problem, I'm hopeful the process will work as promised. I will update when I know for sure after a day or two that it is (or isn't) working.
