I cannot return my iPhone4 in the UK - Apple has no return policy ???

Hello all,
I am really frustrated and angry.
I decided that due to the "grip of death" Signal Loss fault with iPhone 4's, I would return my phone and get something else. I went into the ORANGE UK's shop Monday morning, 4 days after the phone was launched, to get a refund.
They told me, "sorry, if you had bought any other phone we would be able to help you, but Apple does not have a return policy on their phones". I was astonished, could not believe him and got annoyed with him. He said that until Apple admit there is a fault and that they are prepared to honour consumer's rights to a product that works as stated, they could do nothing.
I then phoned Apple, who recommended I buy a rubber cover or hold the phone differently.
Now I have written a formal letter to ORANGE UK, though the problem really lies with Apple, who do not take returns in the UK.
I am extremely angry and disappointed in Apple. I have two Apple computers, and will never buy an Apple product again.

Apple UK does have a return policy for items purchased directly from them; 14 calendar days from date of purchase. I don't see any exception for the iPhone in the policy:

So I think the Orange people are blowing smoke at you, though I cannot be certain that their contract with Apple does not have some special terms. Someone here with direct experience with Orange may be able to provide more useful insight. I would suggest you call Orange customer service directly rather than depend on the word of a shop. Unless Orange's shop personnel are better-trained and supervised than are those in the AT&T shops here, your shop manager may well be ignorant of the terms. Or deliberately telling you a lie to avoid having to take back your iPhone.

    Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider.

    What does this exactely mean?
    The signer of the document in question used an official p12 keystore, issued by QuoVadis. QuoVadisRootCa3 is globally trusted by all software we know so far.
    The certificate chain is shown correctely in adobe reader, but the usercertificate shows the yellow warning flag along with above message.
    What can/must we do on the signer's side to get the document accepted in adobe reader at the customer site?

    A CA may issue many different signing certificates and System Administrator may restrict which signatures signed with certificates issued by this CA should be accepted as Valid on particular Reader installations.
    Policy constraints are set on individual Acrobat/Reader installations. Usually they are set by IT but can be also done manually by the users. When policy constraints are enabled Reader validates only signatures signed with DIgital IDs that meet specified policy constraints. In Reader/Acrobat policy constraints are specified per trusted root certificate. In Reader XI go to Edit->Preferences->Signatures, click on More.... in "Identities&Trusted Certificates" and select "Trusted Certificates". In the list of ttrusted certificates select the root certificate of the chain in the problem signature and click "Edit Trust" button. In the dialog that comes up select "Policy Restrictions" tab. It contains on top explanation of what policy restrictions are.
    Apparently the installations that exhibit this problem have some "Certificate policies" entered for QuoVadis trusted root. When it happens Reader will mark as Valid only signatures signed with the QuoVadis-issued Digital IDs that include matching policy constraints. There is nothing you can do about it on the signer's side, because it is controlled by the preferences on the recipients' side.

    If you can’t reset them via the above instructions (you won't be able to add a rescue email address until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset - which is likely to be by phone as they need to confirm your id and that it's your account.

How do I match up my account ID with what I have on my phone?

    I was in the Netherlands and now I am in Austria - I have an Austrian sim in my phone - yes I can receive texts on it.
    I'm upgrading to iOS8
    In iCloud it wants me to enter my pin and then the code sent to my phone.
    It says it is sending it to my Dutch Number but I need to change this to my Austrian number to receive the SMS.
    I have followed the links "don't have access to this phone?"
    - but they won't let me enter anything other than a US phone number - and in fact I cannot see my Dutch number in there anywhere either ?!
    I cannot for the life of me remember how I entered the Dutch one or maybe I could change it to the Austrian one now!
    - more to the point - how will I change this back to my US number when I return?

    I'm told to:
    Go to My Apple ID.
    Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in.
    Select Password and Security.
    In the Trusted Devices section, select Manage.
    To add a number, select Add an SMS-capable phone number.
    To remove a number, select Remove next to the verified phone number associated with your Apple ID.
    It's all good down to step 3 but in there I do not see a "Trusted Devices" section - it only talks about 2 step verification, security questions and my birthday.

    If you mean other folders then you need to create them in your email client e.g. in a browser (which you can only do in IMAP accounts, not POP account) - you can't create new folders in the Mail app itself

    f you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  You can now go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your correct iCloud ID and password.
    If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to have them reset the password so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account.  You can either go to https://expresslane.apple.com, select "More Products and Services", then "Apple ID", then  on the next page select "Other Apple ID Topics", then "Lost or forgotten Apple ID password" and click "Continue"; or you can contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).

    Apps must be updated using the Apple ID used to originally download them to the device.
    If you cannot or will not use the old Apple ID, then you can delete the app, and then download it again using the current Apple ID.  Be aware that any paid apps will have to be purchased again.

    Sorry, I meant to say that when you are finished you should put it back to the correct (highest) resolution.
    As for why it happened, it's partly an adobe thing but mostly a mac thing. Window management has many problems in recent versions of OS X and this happens in other programs, too, not just Adobe ones, but the adobe ones tend to take a bit more sorting out.

    This problem is not limited to Google, but occurs with other sites as well.

    If you are talking about searches from - http://www.google.com/ - are you logged into a Google account all the time? If so, check your "Search Settings" from the "gear" in the upper-right corner of that Google search page and see if you have '''Open search results in a new browser window.''' check-marked, at the bottom of that preferences page. When that is check-marked and you have Tab options in Firefox set to '''Open new windows in a new tab instead''', you will get search results always opening in a new tab instead of the same tab. As to why that works different for "sponsored links" I don't know, I haven't seen the "sponsored links" for years now, I have a GM script that blocks those advertisements.
