I cannot run firefox 6.0 on my computer

I tried to update firefox. Version 7.0 downloaded, and required me to 'replace' my old version (can't remember what I was running), only to tell me it is incompatible with my operating system! I have Mac OSX 10.5.8. What version of firefox will run and how can I get a copy?
Thanks!
Maureen

found a fix... had this today.
I deleted FirefoxExtensionsSetup within this folder:
HD/Applications/Adobe Contribute CS5.1/SupportFiles/FireFoxExtension
Then Firefox worked.
Good luck to all... delete at your own risk.

  • Cannot run firefox 5 after running system restore

ran system restore after installing version 5, and now cannot run firefox or uninstall it.

Windows' System Restore usually doesn't break Firefox, but it usually doesn't fix it either.
I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong during the next few steps. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, try reinstalling Firefox 5 over the existing installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
    Does it work?

  • Firefox is already running but is not responding - Cannot run Firefox on multiple machines with in a network (parent.lock)

Environment - Single File Server & 6 workstations.
I have a single generic user account/profile and log on to all 6 workstations at the same time (1 user, 1 password, 6 workstations).
I need to run firefox on all the workstations with the same user and user profile.
However, as soon as one user opens firefox all the others get the message "Firefox is already running but is not responding" and can not open the browser. No other workstations can open Firefox. I can only run 1 instance of Firefox in this scenario. How can I run it on all 6 with a single user account?
I have been back to the server and deleted the parent.lock file but it is recreated again as soon as someone open a firefox browser and the problem starts al over again.
Please - How can I get a single user with a single profile to run firefox on 6 workstations simultaneously?
    Thank You

hello timfarr, you cannot do that - many essential databases (like bookamrks, passwords etc.) in your profile are not designed to be accessed by different processes at the same time...

  • Cannot run Firefox

I cannot get Firefox to start at all. I have tried opening the browser from the short cut on the task bar, from Start -> programs, by double clicking the desktop shortcut icon but none of these open Firefox. I have rebooted the computer but the problem is still occurring. I can't even get the profile manager to run. I type the command into the run box but nothing happens. Windows recently did a major update but Firefox was working fine yesterday after the update installed but today I can't get anything Firefox related to work.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  • I cannot run Firefox 4 on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4.11)

I am currently running Firefox 3.6.13. I tried downloading and installing Firefox 4 but I received a message that says my software won't support it. I have a MacBookPro, which runs OS X 10.4.11. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you!

Firefox 4 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later. You can download Firefox 3.6 from [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html this download page]. Install it like normal and you should be back up and running.

  • Suddenly I cannot run firefox, message says unable to load XPCOM, what do I do?

Cannot get on line, browser icon says "cannot load XPCOM" What can I do?? Please help. I am not very computer savvy. Please make it very simple.

This can be caused by a failed Firefox update that left you with a mixture of old and updated files in the Firefox program folder.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

  • Since upgrading to FireFox 6 I cannot run Firefox in Avast Sandbox - get error "This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found". Firefox works fine outside Avast Sandbox.

    The error box is entitled
firefox.exe - Unable To Locate Component.
It suggests re-installing may fix the problem but I've un-installed and re-installed firefox a number of times and no change.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Running Firefox 17.0.1.4715 on Windows XP SP3, I was prompted to update to Firefox 18, ran the update, requested restart, got no restart and cannot run Firefox

The install was apparently successful, I got a restart prompt and said OK. Firefox 17 shut down, but there was no restart. Attempts to launch Firefox from icons or the Start menu get no reaction.
The Firefox.exe in Program Files is version 17.0.1.4715. It will not execute.
Anti-virus Avast (but I've done plenty of Firefox updates before with this installed, and no conflict).

  • I need to buy tickets tonight online and the paperwork says to be running Firefox 3.x. My computer has Firefox version 5....does that matter?

If the paperwork says to have Firefox 3.x running to order tickets online, I am assuming the version 5 that I am running now will be ok? thanks for your help!

You need "sysinternal's process explorer", it is free and can replace the Microsoft process explorer, that you get by "CTRL+ALT+DELETE". Either program will allow you to kill the instances of FF that didn't die as they should have, when you closed them. Sysinternal is easier to use, it is a graphic display with many options. Do not push "CTRL+ALT+DELETE" twice unless you want to reboot, that is its default behaviour under Microsoft.

You said that Comcast can't fix the problem. Have you contacted their support? What did they say was the problem?

  • Cannot get firefox to load onto my computer

for 2 days I have been trying to download Mozilla Firefox 30 to my laptop, Vista XP os and it will not take. I have tried everything from making sure all drivers are up to date to different versions of the program and nothing works. When I do attempt to download, sometimes I get a messge of "thank you for downloading Mozilla Firefox" but there is no sign of it on my laptop, why?
What do I have to do to get it to load?

    Try this instead:
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps in case your security software is causing this issue.

  • WE HAVE A CLIENT COMPUTER IN THE SHOP (EXPANION UNIT). WE CAN'T RUN FIREFOX ON IT AND OFFICE COMPUTER AT SAME TIME. I HAVE CHECKED THE BOX THAT ALLOWS US TO RUN AS DIFFERENT USERS, BUT IT STILL IS NOT ALOWING ME TO LOG ON. SUGGESTIONS?

The box is under properties, 2nd tab, then advanced. We are currently using the same log on for both computers. Do we need to create a separate log on for the expanion unit or?

I would suggest trying it as different users.
