PSE9: Cannot scan anymore

My question was:
Since a week or two the possibility to scan a picture via "File>Get pictures>from scanner>" (hope my translation from Dutch is correct...) has disappeared. I re-installed Photoshop Elements 9, but this didn't help. Is it possible that my Windows update from 8 to 8.1 is the cause?
My scanner is a Canon CanoScan 9000F MarkII. I removed My Image Garden.
But:
By studiing the Organizer I discovered that the missing link by wich I could reach the possibility to scan pictures was still there but moved to the middle of the top bar and hardly visible in the black bar. Originally there were words side by side in the bar and I had to click on the word File. But now there is one hazy symbol and when I click on it the same words appear in a window in which I can choose File. How this had happened is not clear.
Is there an explanation for this phenomenon? Can I get the original situation back?
I almost decided to replace Photoshop Elements by other free software...

Can't scan anymore.

I have a C4680. Can't scan anymore. What might be the problem? Then i tried to download a drive from HP thinking it might solve the problem. The screen says click "download" to start downloading. But where is the "download" button?

I see that you cannot scan with your HP Photosmart c4680, on Mac OS X 10.10. I am happy to help!
For this printer on Mac OS X 10.10 there are no full feature software and drivers from HP. Only a generic driver that is built-in to the Operating System, as shown in this guide, HP Printers - Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update.
To scan, you will want to go through this post, Re: iMac OS X 10.9.3 Scan to iMac Driver for HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A A910a does not seem to exist, by my colleague @Sunshyn2005. Even though this post is for a different printer and Operating System, it will still apply to your situation.

After update to 10.6.3: Canon MF4320 cannot scan

After updating to both OS X 10.6.3. and the new Canon printerdrivers from Apples Software Update my *Canon MF4320* cannot scan anymore.
The option does, however, show up in the menu in +System Prefs/Print & Fax+, but when I click on +"Open Scanner..."+ the window poping up says +"No scanner is selected"+. I've tried to reinstall the drivers from Canons page again, didn't help. I then reinstalled the Apple option, no luck either.
Now what? I cannot work without this scanner as I'm a journalist.
Any suggestions and help will therefore be much appreciated.

I updated to 10.6.3 and the new Canon drivers from Software Update last night. After that, could no longer print wirelessly to Canon MP640. Message said "communication error". I reset the printing system and re-added the printer. Printer works fine wirelessly after that, but now I can no longer add the scanner. The scanner did not show up on the Print/Fax Prefs in System Preferences in Wireless Mode.
In USB mode, then both printer and scanner functions are available.
Any thoughts on how I could get the scanner to work wirelessly again?

MP560 series cannot scan

I was able to connect my printer Canon MP560 series (wireless) to my new iMac (OSX 10.8.3,, mountain lion) and its printing fine.
But I cannot scan anymore. Getting error message 'Cannot communicate with scanner ... 2.1.0
i downloaded software that was needed

restarted imac - got the canon utilities folder MP Navigator EX 3.0.app opens fine but still no scanning

In order to use MP Navigator with a wireless device you have to change the Prefernces. So with MP Navigator open, click the Preferences button and then select the General tab. In the field labelled Product Name, you need to drop this menu to show the MP560 that is networked - this will be the one with the alphanumeric characters shown as part of the name, as per the example below for my MP990.
With the networked MP560 selected you can then click OK to close the Preferences window and then see if you can scan with MP Navigator.

iMac is connected via wirelss to printer/scanner. All was working OK until update.

Assuming that the HP software is up-to-date, but still not working, have you tried Image Capture in the Applications folder. Does that work?

Cannot scan to e mail - Printer does not wake up - Web access issues

I own the HP 7520 AIO since a couple of months.
Everything was working fine untill 2 weeks ago
After a couple of hours , you cannot print anymore, you have to reset the network connection. Sometimes it works just by reseting the wireless , sometimes you have to go for a printer shutdown , plug out the cord (because you cannot power on again the printer by pressing the power button) and replug. I tried to configure again Wireless connection but I does not solve the issue .
In addition,when I'm trying to access to apps or to scan to e mail from the front panel, I'm getting an error message saying that it is impossible to connect to Web services.
I tried to reset the printer to factory but now it's worst I cannot configure e print anymore at all...
Scan to computer (to Windows) is working all the time (to Mac has never worked from the printer but work from the computer)
I did not change something to the home wireless (router or others) since I first configured the printer.
Could you please help me to solve these issues ?

Welcome to the HP Support forums. I understand that you are unable to scan to email with your Photosmart 7520 printer and also you are unable to connect to web services.
To reconnect to web services please set a manual IP address and DNS servers. I have included a link to another post I did with the steps (including screen shots). It also sounds like the router may have had a firmware update so I’ve also included the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection document. There are several valid trouble shooting steps to follow if the manual IP doesn’t correct things.
Please let me know how it goes.

As you are so good I do have another problem. I have another 2 pc's on the network that show on the iMac but iMac cannot conect to. One is XP and the other is Vista both with Norton fire wall installed.

Cannot scan w/HP C4280 since update of drivers from Apple

After installing the HP drivers which Apple suggests we use, my HP c4280 will not scan.
I get a long error message which, I cannot copy & paste into this question.
Briefly it says:
"HP scan cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check w/developer to make sure HP scan works with this version of Mac OS X along with instructions to re-install. Which, of course, I have done.
There is a window filled with a long log labled "Problem Details & system Configuration"
It says: "Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded:/Library/Printers/hp/Frameworks/HPWorkflowsmanager. framework/Versions/A/HPWorksflowsmanager
Referenced from: /Applications/Hewlett-Packard/HP Scan.app/Contents/MacOS/HP Scan
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/usr/local/lib/HPWorkflowsManager: stat() failed with errno=13
Used AppCleaner to remove HP & then installed again, repaired permissions, restarted, again,
still no luck, even though I can print & copy!
If I try to Scan by using Scan button on the c4280, I get a message on the c4280 that the USB is not connected, even though I can print & copy.
Ran software update which does not indicate that I need any print drivers.
For all downloads I always go to the Apple site.

I had a similar problem. I originally had an iMac running Leopard and an HP C4280 all-in-one printer with the HP software loaded. All was fine until I installed Mavericks in 2013 at which time I was unable to save scans using the HP Scan software. I used an "Image Capture" work-around for about a year. Sometime after I installed Yosemite in the fall of 2014, that problem with "HP Scan" disappeared. Then a month ago, I bought a Mac Pro and migrated everything from my iMac to my new Mac Pro. Then found I couldn't scan. I would get a message very similar to the one displayed at the top of this discussion. After a lot of messing around I found that Apple's "Migration Assistant.app" had failed to migrate (copy) over everything in the following directories:
/Library/Printers/hp
/Library/Image Capture/Support/Hewlett-Packard/
I still had my iMac, so I manually used rsync to copy over everything in those directories. Probably could have done it also from the GUI, just copying and pasting. Anyway, now HP Scan works and all is well.
I think Apple and HP have just decided not to support the HP Scan software anymore and to just go with the drivers and Apple's software. I don't know if it's just that I'm used to HP Scan or not, but I find it a lot easier and more convenient to use, especially with my Acrobat Pro.

Epson printer cannot scan

About 5-6 weeks ago, I am many others experienced the "Page 2 of a Scan Freeze" issue. Today, my scanning software does not give me a prompt to scan at all anymore. It will do the Overview, it will print but it will not scan. Based on my last post re the "freeze at page 2" issue, all agreed that this was a problem with a recent OS update from Apple.
Is anybody else seeing a similar situation where you cannot scan at all?

Thank you for your question, please try to reset the printer settings. In the about:config page you can reset this setting.
Edit, I did not read that properly at all. I did see that there is a third party product called MailToWrapper, have you heard of this before?

I cannot scan documents

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 SP1 64 bit version. I have been having problems with my printer initially could not download the solution center and now cannot scan. I own an HP 6500 All-In-One E709a printer. I installed the Scan and Printer Doctor and when it performs a diagnostic exploration, I can see the scanner working but at the end it recommends to reinstall HP Photosmart Essentials which I did but to no avail. It also asks to turn off the printer and unplug it and wait for 60 secs, unplug the USB cable, check the cable, check the internet, etc. but it does not work. Please help.

I see you are experiencing software issues. I would like to help!
I would suggest removing the USB cable, and Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration. You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Officejet J6400 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.
Don't plug the USB cable in until prompted.

I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

Well, I was able to get it to sync by opening iTunes first, and THEN connecting the iPhone. And it does sync but still will not sync with iPhoto. I also unchecked and rechecked the option to "Open iTunes automatically when this iPhone is connected" and now iTunes opens and syncs automatically. But tried the same thing with iPhoto to no avail.
Any ideas for iPhoto syncing?
