I cannot select anything with the trackpad on my Macbook 7,1

My 6-month-old son was playing an online baby game but got some saliva on the trackpd. It seemed to be very little and I wiped it up quickly. However, after cleanup, the mouse was barely moving and erratic. I shutdown for a day and on powerup the mouse cursor was moving fine again. The problem now is that when I click the trackpad to make a selection, nothing registers. Clicking sounds seem normal but there is no response to a click.
To complicate matters, I ran the Apple Hardware Test (initiated by powering up and press/holding the D-key before the grey screen appeared). Upon initiation of the hardware test, I noticed that the trackpad is functioning normally (cursor movement AND click-selection). I figured perhaps the test jogged something to make it work so proceeded to restart. When I got to the login screen, cursor movement is working find, but again I cannot make any selections and therefore cannot even log in. Shouldn't I also be able to login by selecting the account with the keyboard and pressing enter (without using the trackpad)? If yes, then that doesn't work either.
All this to say that it seems that the problem is software related since the hardware test passes without error. (I have't tried an external mouse as I don't have one handy.) Any thoughts on how to correct this?

Problem solved. Took it to the Genius Bar where the tech guy went through his diagnostic process. He finally reset the PRAM and all is well.
Gotta admit, I was skeptical in bringing it to Apple. I figured since it's out of warranty they'll probably just try to soak me for a ridiculously-priced repair. Nope, 20 minutes after walking in, I was a very satisfied customer!

Are you using any MS Office third party Add-ins? Test: Remove third party Add-ins other than PDFMaker. Test to see if the MS Office apps run afterward.
Did you attempt to repair MS Office? Test: Go to Add/Remove Control Panel run Repair.
Finally, have you tried testing to see if it's PDFMaker? Test: Use the Add/Remove Control Panel to modify the Acrobat installation to remove PDFMaker. See if MS Office applications launch and behave correctly?

Why do I all of the sudden have a small box in the middle of my screen it is asking for something but I cannot do anything with the page?

The box has a gray bar and two tiny little check boxes in the middle of it. I check the post and nothing. I cannot move the page I cannot move anything as the page is frozen and waiting for me to do something with this box. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same stupid box comes up in the middle of the page.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Cannot do anything with the new Flash Player 10.1

We have a Dell desktop and I don't know much more than that as I am not tech savy, but we have tried several times to install the new Flash Player and when I check it shows that it is installed, but when we try to upload anything on Facebook or watch any videos, it says we must download the new Flash Player. So we have uninstalled it several times also to re-install it again. HELP me!!!! We are getting very frustrated.

Hi, ok you have the XP. What version of Internet Explorer are you using? If you don't know, go up to Help and click on About Internet Explorer. That tells you there. Also you should see an update for XP, SP1, 2 or 3. I need that info also.
Do you have any other browsers Installed? If so which ones and version numbers please.

I can receive mail but cannot answer or forward or do anything with the body of the message including scroll through it.

Quit the mail app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

So the menu bar reads iChat, File, Edit, View, Buddies, Video, Window and Help
There is no Buddy List open.
There is no other window for iChat open.
In the iChat Menu you only have access to Status.
Is an item ticked in the list ?
Is this a green (Available item) or Red ( an Away one) ?
Can you access the Accounts option ? (Sitll in the iChat Menu)
Is anything in here ticked ?
In the Window menu any Logged in account should appear in the list (Between the Next Chat and File Transfer items)
It would be useful to know which version of iChat this is.
If no account is ticked (iChat Menu > Accounts) or not showing in the Window Menu, plus you cannot determine the Status and you cannot access the Preferences then you need to access your Home Folder/Library/Preferences
As the Library in the Home Holder is Invisible in Lion you will need the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option (you can use it in earlier OS versions if you want)
Type in:-
~/Library/Preferences
Find the file called com.apple.ichat.plist
Drag it to the Trash and Restart iChat.
This will lose all the settings in iChat that you have changed from Defaults but there is no way around this.

Start here, and reset your security questions, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
If that doesn't help or you don't have a rescue address, you might try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support

iTunes runs on your computer, not your phone. Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer. If you're using a Mac, and running OS X 10.5, you will need to upgrade OS X first.

I cannot view anything on the internet

Please help I have almost pulled what little hair I have left out.
The desktop is XP and has just been reconfigured. It is connected to the internet via the wireless adapter with good signal. i just cannot view anything and the **bleep** things tells me I am not connected even though I am.
The only other thing it says in the bottom address bar is that it is detecting proxy settings.

You don't normally need any proxy settings when connecting via a Home Hub. Check that you don't have any proxy set up in your web browser(s).
In recent versions of Internet Explorer, that will be Tools->Internet options, Select the Connections tab, Hit the LAN Settings button, and "Automatically detect settings" should be ticked.

When we purchased our mac two years ago, we set up the iCloud account. this past winter I created a new iCloud account thinking I was changing it. I now cannot access anything on the old iCloud acct and my computer hasn't been backed up either in awhile

Well, you can go to Manage your Apple ID and change the password if you can answer the Security Questions:
Apple - My Apple ID
If you cannot remember the Security Questions you can contact iTunes Support to reset them for you:
New iTunes Support - US and ww
Once you get your password reset and you can access your account info on Manage your Apple ID, you can change your ID. You won't be able to use the same email address that you are using for the new ID unless you change that one to something else. But, if you can get back into your old ID and change it to a new email address, then you can go on using that old ID, and just manually move the iCloud stuff you added to your new ID back onto the old one. Most of the stuff (like Contacts, Calendar, Notes) can be added by logging onto https://www.icloud.com on your Mac and doing it that way (it is a lot simpler when you have an actual keyboard in my opinion)
