I cannot send mails, after the download Yosemite

After download Yosemite, im having problems with emails...

I tried typing in my password in the Mac Mail Preferences, removing and re-adding my SMTP account with no success. Because I'm the admin of our Rackspace Mail service I was able to reset my password on the host site and resolve the problem. I suggest that anyone having the same issue contact their hosting company and have them reset their password on the server end.

About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

• My ipad3 gives me this message about once a week: Cannot send mail. The user name or password for "yahoo" is incorrect. Mail will send after I enter password. But it hasn't changed. What gives?

I have an occasional glitch like that (not using Gmail). If I were you and it is that infrequent, I would NOT try anything to "fix" it.

• Cannot send mail after upgrading to Lion

Can anyone help.
I upgraded to OS X Lion, and since then I cannot send mail from any of my accounts.
Nothing wrong with them. I can access, receive and send with othe Mail programs, as well as from my iPhone and iPad.
I have deleted, and reconfigured my accounts, and no luck.

I am having the exact same problem as Steve Kennedy a few posts back.
"When I press send I watch the fan for a couple of minutes before seeing the error message that invites me to select another server or try later. The outgoing mail server that shows up as being unusable is MobileMe (MobileMe). When I select smtp.me.com, I can send. Sometimes I can even send a couple of messages before the problem returns.
I'm using Lion and Mail 5.0 (1244.2/1244.3) on my iMac (mid-2010) and Verizon FIOS. Never had this problem with Snow Leopard or earlier. Don't have it with my MacPro running Snow Leopard on the home wireless network. Don't have it when using MobileMe mail on the Web, but that's a slow alternative."
I am getting REAL tired of the Lion quirks. <y desktop rearranges itself when it feels like it. Nothing consistent or repeatable. The folders just all appear on the right side and disregard how I have them organized on the desktop. I have set all of the recommended settings to no avail. A mind of it's own.
Help us Apple. Mail is almost unusable.

• IPhone 3G Cannot Send Mail. The sender address was invalid.

All of a sudden, I cannot send mail. I get the message "Cannot Send Mail" The sender address was invalid.
I have reset the phone in hopes of resolving the problem. That did not work.
The mail that I'm sending to IS a valid address; I'm trying to RESPOND.
Please help.

The configuration and use of any outgoing server address (SMTP) may not be supported due to several factors including, but not limited to, the inability for the outgoing server (SMTP) to authenticate users (whether by IP or username/password) that are not directly connected to that Internet Service Providers(ISPs) network.
This is usually your HOME wi-fi and you are not connected to it because you are on your iPhone away from the house. This is mainly done to prevent unsolicited users from sending SPAM via the ISP's servers.
An alternative is to use ATT SMTP Server (for US) when you are on the 3G or data network for the carrier and not on your home wi-fi. So enable ATT SMTP server under Other SMTP servers under your Mail's account settings on the iPhone.
If you are interested you can obtain that information directly from the email provider. This article has a great temple that you can use to ask all necessary information from the provider including "If you use your ISP’s own email service (instead of a third-party such as Gmail), sometimes it may not work if you use another Internet access point, such as a cafe with wireless Internet. Ask your email provider if the settings they give you will work on other networks."
What to ask if you're having issues sending, receiving, or configuring Mail

• Cannot send mail on the road

I am on the road and in some cases have to pay for internet privileges. I can receive mail and surf the internet with Safari. But I cannot send any mail and get the error message. The clerk at the motel here says to change the outgoing mail server to their server provider. But nothing good happens for me when I do that and restart. I tried to repair permissions and restarted several times.
The problems always seem to take place on locked WiFi. Open WiFi like Panera Bread I can access and send mail usually with no problem as well at the occasional open WiFi you run across from time to time.

Most if not all internet service providers used for connecting to the internet now block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the ISP) on Port 25 which is the default port used for SMTP servers.
Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only that is outside of their network on Port 25 but some ISPs block its use regardless.
These restrictions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain and to have better control over customers that violate the ISP's terms of use in regards to sending email.
You can try changing the server port for the SMTP server from 25 to 587 and if this doesn't work, your only option is adding the ISP's SMTP server in Mail as an available SMTP server to choose from to be used to send messages with an email account not provided by that ISP. If this isn't allowed or doesn't work either, your only other option is sending messages via webmail access using a browser which doesn't use an SMTP server to send messages.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your email account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below. Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
In my experience when staying at a hotel that provides free wired and/or wireless internet access, after entering the password for access provided at the front desk when checking in, I don't have problems sending messages with my .Mac account and .Mac's authenticated SMTP server which I now use as my primary personal email account. The last hotel I stayed in which was out of state happened to use the same ISP that I use at home but this was the first and only time I've come across this.
Basically it is up to the internet service provider being used to connect to the internet at the time. Some ISPs have identical restrictions in regard to using an SMTP server that is outside of their network but some are different. Since hotels/motels that provide free internet access can't expect their customers to have the same ISP and depending on the hotel/motel have business travelers that need access to sending email with their business email account using an email client such as Mail that requires using an SMTP server that is not provided by the ISP, this should be a no-brainer for the hotel and the hotel's ISP but we can thank spammers for these problems.

• Cannot send mail after iOS7 , there is no "sent itens", email disapears when sent, but it does not go through

Hi,
my wife's iPhone 4S went haywire after iOS7. First it would not authorize iMessage ever, and there was a problem with all "Push" notifications. I had to backup, reset and restore for it to work. After that, her business POP email account stopped sending mail. It will receive emails normally, but she is unable to send. If you type an email and send it, it disapears, not "thinking" animation on the top, and it is not received. Checking the email folders there is no "sent itens" or "outbox" folders.
Tried deleting and re-creating the account, to no avail. Any ideas? I really did not want to full reset it again, she will make me eat the d**m phone.

It means the messages were not received and your SMS option is disabled
Settings > Messages > Send as SMS > On

• Cannot send mails to the Trash

Yesterday I had a problem with my wireless keyboard that started sending random letters and opening all kind of windows.
I took the keyboard to the Apple store and they replace it.
The only problem I found up to now, as a result of this behaviour is that now I cannot send any mail form my Inbox to the Trash.
What happens is that I get a window saying that "this cannot be sent to the Trash because it already exists there", but if I empty the trash and try it again it sends to the trash (I can see it there) but the same window shows up and the mail remains in the Inbox.
I already did "Repair Permissions" and "FSCK" with no results.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks

Problem solved.
I found out that the problem was with only one account, so, I deleted that account and re-installed it again, and now everything is working fine.
I guess it got corrupted when the faulty keyboard started sending all kind of random letters.
Regards

• HT4623 Cannot send mail after ios7 update

I am unable to send mail via gmail or outlook
Any ideas? Something about stmp server

Not sure what you mean by "reloaded". Don't bring it in from a backup. Try to totally delete the email account from your device and then re-create the email account from scratch. It stinks to have to do it this way, but that's what ended up working for me. That was on my iPad and I had to click "other" and POP (I did not create an IMAP account), but not iCloud, Exchange or any other of the items listed when you want to create a new account.
I am definitely staying at IOS 6 in my phone until Apple gets their house in order. And if they dono't address this in the next week, I"m going to sell my stock. Frustration has been building over the past year, but this cross the line of incompetence in software quality assurance testing.
It's one thing for people to have an opinion about whether you like the esthetics of the graphics of new software, but it's a totally different thing for it to NOT WORK!

• On the 6 Plus, I can receive email, but unable to send email. Error message is "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server...failed."

I have tried everything. Any ideas?

If you truly tried everything there is no hope of ever making it work. But perhaps you missed something, so here are a few things (and if you've tried them...)
Reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears
Go to Settings/Mail,contacts,calendars, tap on a mail account. Make sure there's an entry for SMTP or Outgoing mail server (You may need to tap on Account to see the entry)
Tap on SMTP and make sure you have entered your email name and password (even if it says "optional")
If there's more than one server listed make sure the appropriate one for that account is the primary
If all of the above is correct delete the account, reboot the phone, and add the account back

• Cannot send mail & Connection error after 2.0

Hey guys,
I'm running 2.0 on an 8GB 2G iPhone. After updating to 2.0 in the mail app im getting two errors. The first one is "Connection to outgoing server "smtp.comcast.net" failed" and the second (when I'm trying to send mail) is "Cannot send mail. The sender address was invalid".
For the first error, I remember this being a problem when I first got the phone in January, but I cannot for the life of me remember what I changed in the settings so that it would work.
The second error is new with 2.0.
Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated
Cheers

I am having the exact same problem. Can't send any emails. Get the message "Can't send mail. Recipient address invalid" or something like that. I have reviewed all the troubleshooting information. This did not happen until I upgraded to 2.0. I am using Edge with a pop account on an original iphone. Any help would be appreciated!!

• HT4519 cannot send mail error

i had to setup my email again and i am now getting the following error
The user name or password for "SMTP:[email protected]" is incorrect
any advice
Thanks

I'm trying to troubleshoot the SAME issue now, SAME device (had this for a few months but didn't bother since I can access web mail other ways).
The only difference is this is my hotmail I have set up through apple mail. Does it say: "Cannot Send Mail. The username or password for: "STMP: (emailname) @hotmail.com @stmp.live.com" is incorrect."? Well, in my case it's "hotmail.com" anyway.
I tried removing it, adding it again, then shutting the ipad on & off again. No success.
Did you get it fixed.
P.S.: This issue started happening right after one of the IOS software updates.

• Cannot Send Mail using AIM account.

I can receive mail fine but when I try to send mail I get the following message:
Cannot send mail using the server smtp.aim.com:EmilyLozano.
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
Message from: Emily Lozano <[email protected]>
I left for a trip a few days ago, came back and now for no apparent reason cannot send mail as I always have. I have reconfigured the port to 587 and that did not help. Any suggestions? (I can send and receive fine via the web, but I really hate it.)

I'm glad you got it figured out. So many times people on this forum sit around waiting for help when they could have retraced their steps, like you did, to figure out the source of the problem.
