I cannot send out text messages

I cannot send out text messages - I can receive them - cannot send them to a contact.
This contact has a multiple contacts ranging from gmail to facebook. I deleted all the contacts and now the contact can receive my text messages.
I noticed a small x in a circle to the right of the contact's name. A red x in a circle would appear and say my text messages not sent. I would resend - nothing changed.
Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix the contact so I can text without getting these messages.
The contact is not blocking me by the way - it is my spouse LOL

Please try deleting all text messages from this person and resend. Do you have a signature on your outgoing text messages? If so please remove the signature and retry. If these don't work please PM me and we will further troubleshoot this issue.

I don't see the "Start new conversation from:" I spent 1 hour and 40 minutes last night on the phone with Verizon. We completely reset the phone after backing it up to icloud. His conclusion was I need a new SIM card and I will not be able to go take care of that until tonight. I don't know if that will fix it or not but that is what he said...

hi! can anyone help me? i cannot send any text messages on my 5700. even checking on my balance, i can't even sent it. I tried to do the factory settings but that doesn't work too. there's an error saying that:
general: memory full. close some applications and try again.
I erased all my messages in my inbox and in sent messages. I even deleted some applications to my phone. And my phone memory and memory card are not also full.
please... i really need help...

yeah even i've been having the same problems.. General:memory full. close some applications and try again. tried resewting the phone nut to no avail..

In my wife's iPad she cannot send a text message to an Android user, but I can on mine. Both use the same 8.1 iOS. When she types in the addressee name it comes up in red and will not allow "send."

How do you send a text message to an Android user via Messages? My wife and I both have iPads running 8.1 iOS. When she types in the addressee name it appears in red (not in mine). Then she is not allowed to send.

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage. There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

Cannot send group texts/messages or voice texts.

I just bought my iPhone 6 Plus on December 27. Starting today for some reason, I cannot send group texts (iMessages or SMS texts) or voice texts. Please advise.

This doesn't really help me as much; I know how to send texts, and I am able to do so to individuals. It's just that I can't get group texts to go through. I have service and am sending to both iPhone users and non-iPhone users. Interestingly enough, a moment ago a particularly long text I tried to send to an individual non-iPhone user was not delivered. HT3529 I cannot send a text message to one specific friend when they have iMessage turned off. It should go through as a text message instead of an iMessage but they never receive it. It only happens with this one person and I can receive, but not send.

Please help! I can't send a text message to one specific friend of mine when he has iMessage turned off. I can receive his texts, but he never receives mine. Both are iPhones, obviously, different carriers which shouldn't matter. Neither of us got new phones. MMS is on. All if a sudden it just happened. No major changes other than him turning iMessage off, due to a nosy brother who shares his iPad. What am I missing??

If it was not sent, it is possible that you prevented it from being sent. However, if it made it to the Apple server before it tried sending as a SMS, it is very possible it still could be sent. In my opinion, I would say no.

Go to Settings --> Messages and turn on "Send As SMS".

IPhone 4 cannot send international text messages

I have an iPhone 4. Since day one that I bought the phone, I have not been successful to send international text messages. The procedure for sending an international text message is simple: enter 011, followed by the country code, and then the phone number. It has never worked. Each time, I get the following error message -- "Message Send Failure". Any ideas for fixing this problem?
What surprises me most is that I have an HTC Trophy with the same Mobile Service provider. No problem exists with the HTC Trophy for sending international text messages.

I never had problems sending international text since my first 3g iPhone and neither with the 4. The only problem is that international txts are too expensive, I recommend you to use Skype or other app that can send texts.

IPhone keeps receiving and sending out text message instead of imessage

For some odd reason my iphone has been sending and receiving text messages rather than imessage to other iphone users. When they send messages to me their phone is sending it as text to me. Also when they send messages, it takes a long time to send and it takes a while to finish sending. I called Sprint and they said that if I have iMessage on, I have to turn off MMS. If I have MMS on, I have to turn off iMessage. That completely doesn't make any sense to me at all. My phone is an iPhone 4. Thanks in advance for the help

I figured out how to default back to text messages if iOS 8 was forcing you to use iMessages! It's a bit of a process but it goes as follows:
1. Leave iMessage on (trust me)
2. Select the "send & receive" section
3. Uncheck your Apple ID (the grey one)
4. Select your Apple ID (the blue one)
5. Select "sign out"
6. Back up & turn iMessage off
7. Voila! You can send text messages now!

Did you recently receive any bogus text messages containing links? There are reportedly many users who even without opening such messages stoped being able to send messages at all. See this:

Cannot send / receive text messages

I have the LG EnV Touch. I do not have a text message plan whatsoever, but I occasionally text friends once in a while. About last week texting was fine, but these past 2 days, everytime I send a text it immediently says "Send failed. Would you like to retry?" and "Message is not delivered. Service is unavailable." I tried *228 numerous times. I restarted my phone and took out the battery. Please help!!

Did you recently port over your number from another carrier? Have you dialed *228, option 1 to reprogram the phone to the Verizon Wireless network? If this hasn't worked call customer service and verify there isn't a texting block on your line and have them reset the feature on their end.
