I cannot set up my yahoo.ca account on my iMac

Somehow, I cannot create a yahoo.ca account in the Mail application on my new iMac. I have asked for help to a friend who is quite proficient with computers, and he was not able to help. He also has an iMac, and he was able to set up his mail account without any problems, but he used a gmail account.
This is the error message I am getting:
Logging in to the yahoo.ca IMAP server “imap.mail.yahoo.com” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages.

Cannot Set Up a Yahoo Mail Account

I have a user whose BB is set up on the BES server. She also had a Yahoo account set up, but then it stopped working. I then wiped her Blackberry and removed ther BES account from the BES server and re-added it. After wiping the Blackberry I reactivated it to the BES server. I tried setting up the Yahoo account but it did not work. It said "Invalid email address or password. Verify your email address and password. If the error persists contact yahoo.com". I tried using two different Yahoo accounts and it both gave me the same error. I am able to access those Yahoo account via browser and was able to set them up on my iPhone. I also tried it on a Blackberry Curve. Is there something wrong with Yahoo on Blackberry's?

The problems I am having are when I use Yahoo! with the iMac mail application. Yahoo works fine on the browser.
The outgoing settings I am using are:
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): yahoo.co.uk (Offline)
Description: yahoo.co.uk
Server name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use default ports (25, 465, 587)
Use SSL
Authentication: Password
User Name: ********@yahoo.co.uk
Password: *************
Of note:
I cannot stop it from saying Offline after the outgoing mail server.
I have used the same settings on my ipad and iphone and that works fine.

I recently bought the Nokia C3-00 on Vodafone but asked them to unlock it so that I could use my exisitng O2 contract.
I want to set up my Yahoo email account, but Im having great difficulty!
When I initially put my O2 sim card in, they sent me the settings for MMS and Web. I can get on the internet and I can access Facebook, but I cant seem to access the Nokia Ovi Store or set up my Yahoo email account.

When I click on the Mail icon on the Menu screen I have a message appear saying 'No mailbox created. Set up mail now?' If I click 'Yes' It says 'Use an existing mail address?' to which I also say 'Yes' and proceed to emter my email address, etc. Should this be happening as I notice in the video that Yahoo Mail is one of the options in the video, however as I have said I do not have that screen!
Can someone please help!?

I cannot log into my yahoo mail account from my iphone4. The password does not have any special characters. On my PC there is no problem.
Also cannot configure Add Yahoo mail. I woould get a message, stating "Verification required. Log into your Yahoo! account at www.yahoo.com". when I attempt this I get "Invalid ID/Password".

Tried eveyrhting and this was the way that fixed it for me --
if you are having an issue adding the yahoo mail account on an iphone/ ipad / ipod.
In the app store download the yahoo mail app for iphone (it works on ipads and ipods as well.. but there's only an iphone version). After downloading it - open and sign in. It's likely it will say that your yahoo account is 'locked' due to suspicious activity - follow the prompts to unlock it.
Now add the yahoo account under the ipad mail settings.
It should work in the regular ipad, iphone, ipod mail application now.

Iphone 5...trouble setting up mutiple Yahoo mail accounts

The Iphone 5 allowed me to set up 1 Yahoo mail account.
When I tried to set up the secound it responds: "Yahoo sever unavailable".
I am able to leave the setup, go to Safari, find Yahoo mail and sign in....so the server is up and running....there is something about the Iphone.

Strange. I am also having problems setting up yahoo mail because I changed my password. Everything was working before I did that. There has been a yahoo problem on my iphone ever since I've had it. The mail app is so darn slow. Yahoo does have an app you can download and then drag it down onto the main dock at the bottom of your screen. That's what I did until someone responds with a possible solution. I also just emailed yahoo to let them know of the problem. Like that matters! LOL! I've emailed them before about this and it takes them weeks to get back to me. So ridiculous!

Quit iTunes.
Sign into another user account.
Hold Option, launch iTunes.
Select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the external.
Do this for all users.
NOTE: You must quit iTunes when switching users as the library can only be opened by one user at a time.

Maybe I'm not following completely, but you can configure email accounts manually, if you want. Just hold down the Option key when you click Continue on the first screen. You can then choose the type of account and set up the servers as you like.
This help page seems to think you can still use POP with Yahoo.

Yes - same issue. I am able to work my yahoo email fine on my iPad, but just bought the iPhone 4s today and cannot set it up for the same reason you state.
I walked through the advanced sections of both iPad and iPhone and they are set up the same, so I have no idea why this is not working.
