I cannot sign onto Facetime with new iPad mini 3

Recently purchased 2 new iPad mini 3 for children.  Update iOS to 8.2.  Family share and parental controls are set.  One iPad mini 3 will sign in, one will not.  I have gone through most every "trick" or "fix" I could find (OFF & ON, Sign out & Sign In, Checked Date & Time, set DNS to 8.8.8.8, etc.) to get the one iPad to sign in but no use.  Other than a complete factory reset, I have run out of ideas.  Is there some child age restriction possibly I don't know about keeping it from signing in?  Any other "try this" ideas the community can share?  Thanks in advance

I have tried the factory reset and it did not work. The people at the Apple Store thought I needed a replacement iPad but I think it's an Apple problem. I got bumped up to a senior tech at AppleCare who is working with engineers. There are a number of people with this problem.
have you sen the long post about this?

  • HT204053 cannot sync calendar on my new ipad mini. my mac and macbook use a .me account for iCloud. How can I change this?

I cannot sync calendar on new ipad mini. My mac desktop and mac book have an old .me icloud account name. Cannot change that so how do I sync?

If you had a passcode set on your iPad your data should be safe.  The thief would have to force it into recovery mode and restore it in order to use it, which would completely erase it.
This shouldn't keep your daughter's device from accessing the iCloud account however.  If you can no longer sign into the account on iCloud.com from your computer, contact Apple support for assistance.

  • IPhones can connect to each other in Facetime, but new iPad mini can't

I just bought a new iPad mini. One of the main reasons my wife and I wanted this was to help when we are long distance in our relationship.
When I try to make/receive a Facetime call with the iPad mini (with my wife's Apple ID) to my phone, it places the call and then when answered it gets stuck at "connecting" and never makes it past that point.
The weird thing is that I can then make the same Facetime call with my wife's iPhone 4 to my iPhone 4 on the same WiFi network, and it works just fine.
I tried installing a VPN on the iPad Mini to see if that would help as I saw some threads where people said it was the kind of data packets being sent. I checked the router and plug and play mode is enabled. The IP address starts with 192 which one forum suggested is a double NAT problem, but that is crazy because I think half the US has an IP address like that.
Any help? This is driving me crazy. I'm going to bring it into the Apple Store this week sometime to verify that it has something to do with the way our modem/router/iPad are communicating, but I don't think they will be very helpful. I saw someone in there with a similar problem a few months ago and the guy just kept on telling the woman "it's your modem/Router/ISP's fault, not ours". Which is probably true to a degree, but Apple needs to figure out a way to avoid having this problem.

  • Having issues with new iPad mini retina 128 dropping wifi

New ipad mini have issues with dropping signal while I am in the middle of connection.  I can be reading a book or email and it will just drop the connection.  When I try to hook back up it says it cannot join.  My iphone 5c is right next to me and is connecting fine.  It is frustrating when  I am in the middle of taking notes in an area and it drops the signal and I lose everything.  I can be 5 feet away and it will not hook up.  Also, I have reset the network settings and started all over.  It helped for a day or so and it started all over again.  Also, I have reset and turned off and on my router to assure the signal connections.  I am now in the process of taking it back for a replacement.  Apple says it is a hardware issue.

    I'm experiencing the same problem.
But my old iPad mini is connecting fine.
I think it is a firmware or software problem?
I hope Apple will fix this issue on an update sooner!

  • Wifi connection with new iPad mini

New iPad mini; cannot connect to mobile wifi router.  Connected successfully with iPhone...Restored iPad as suggested;  reset network settings.. running 6.0.2 on iPad.  Still get Unable to Join Network.

You have a "good WiFi connection". What does that mean exactly? Can you send and receive email and are other internet related activities working OK for you? Have you tried restarting or rebooting your iPad? Sometimes that helps. If nothing else, it's a good place to start.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • I'm having trouble signing into Facetime on my ipad mini.

I keep trying to sign into my Facetime on my ipad mini and after verifying, it comes back to the sign in screen.  I tried to reset the settings and that didn't work.  Anyone else have any suggestions?

    Hello Diane Smiley,
The steps detailed below can help resolve this error and get your signed into iMessage.
If you see "Could not sign in, please check your network connection and try again" when signing in to your Apple ID
To resolve this issue, follow these steps.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you have a data connection by going to www.apple.com in Safari. You can complete Apple ID activation using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. If you need help connecting to Wi-Fi, follow these steps.
If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure that your local Wi-Fi network is using the recommended Wi-Fi settings.
Sign in to your account and ensure that the primary email address and alternate e-mail addresses have been verified. If verification is pending, follow the instructions in the email Apple sent to that email address to complete verification. Or remove the e-mail addresses from the account.
If your Apple ID isn't an email address, you can change it. The Apple ID that you're using to activate FaceTime or iMessage must be an email address. Find more information on how to change your Apple ID.
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time. Make sure that your iPhone is set to the correct time zone. If Set Automatically is on but the wrong time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to a different Wi-Fi network (in a different location) if a cellular data connection is not available.

  • Apple Bluetooth keyboard won't pair with new iPad mini

Apple Bluetooth keyboard won't pair with new iPad mini

I have same results. I have an ipad mini and it will not pair with my apple keyboard. I bought a mini keyboard with bluetooth 3.0 and it will not pair either.  Is my ipad defective?  Or do i need a keyboard with bluetooth 4.0?  Also - the mini keypad will pair with my ipad2 and my iphone 4.  Only difference I can find is the ipad mini has bluetooth 4.0.  Seems it should be downward compatible but maybe not.. I am not a blutooth expert!

  • IPhoto won't sync with new iPad mini

I purchased a new iPad mini. When I sync it with my desktop, iPhoto does not sync, when I press photo tab I just see s whirling beach ball and no albums to select to sync on iPad

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Problems with new iPad mini

Brand new Ipad Mini screen is fading, blacking out, and has bands/lines across? Only responds sluggishly to on/off button. The menu screen comes up for a moment, but the screen blacks out and lines appear.

Have the same problem, but unfortunately this solution didn't work.
The iPad becomes unresponsive as the screen slowly fades to near black. The fading isn't even, vertical bands fade at different rates. Then thin horizontal lines appear up top or at the bottom. When it becomes responsive again, swiping icons is sluggish. Even when I press the power button to black out the screen, I can see thin horizontal lines up top.
I've tried wiping the iPad and starting from scratch, but after a few minutes the problems start again.

  • Cannot connect to wifi with new iPad or iphone5

Everything was fine before ios6 update? Do I need a new router or what? This is very frustrating and it seems apple is doing nothing! Not acceptable!

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • How do I sync Calendar with new iPad mini

New iPad3 mini. No Calendar entries shown on it. How do I go about syncing it with either iPhone6 or MacBook Pro?

Hey Seattle! I used to live in Spoke-a-loo! Went from a West Coast state to an East Coast one
Go to Settings>iCloud and make sure of the following:
    1.     The Apple ID showing at the top is the same one you have signed onto iCloud on your Mac and other devices
    2.     The "Calendar" option is turned on
    3.     That you have a Wifi or Cellular connection. If it is a cellular connection, make sure that under Settings>Cellular>Use Cellular Data For, you have "Calendar" turned on
Also, not sure what OS X you are running on the Mac, but if it is prior to Yosemite, make sure that when you hook your iPad Mini up to iTunes, and click on the Device, that on the "Summary" device Profile screen, it indicates that you are syncing your Calendar and Contacts via iCloud.
If all those check out, then go back to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and Sign Out/Delete the iCloud account (again, not sure what iOS you are running on the iPad. If it is iOS 8 then it would say Sign Out, if it is iOS 7 or earlier, it will day Delete). Provide your password when prompted, and then answer the questions to complete the Sign Out/Delete. Then sign back on to see if the Calendar info will then be pushed to your device.
    Cheers,

  • TS1398 I cannot start to use my new ipad mini as it is stuck at the very first step after restoring my old backup. It says to choose a wifi, I do and then it says 'Unable to connect' There is no options for a password and I cannot access any other screen!

I have tried going past the first set up stage, still with no wifi. I have then tried restoring the ipad mini, still no wifi available. Both my ipone and Apple Mac have wifi full bars. Please help. I only picked up my new ipad today. I am thinking it may be faulty.
    Lele

It may be faulty but you should try to activate it first in order to be sure.
Why don't you activate it using iTunes on the Mac and then troubleshoot the WiFi connection. Connect the Mini to the Mac with the cable and iTunes should startup and take you through activation. If you do not autosync and iTunes des not start up on it's own, then launch it yourself.

  • Can't synch contacts with new ipad mini

I can't synch my contacts to my new ipad mini

  • Trouble with new ipad mini

For some reason I cannot connect my ipad mini to itunes it keeps telling me I need software updates but when I run my software updates I'm up to date with all of them...
currently my software for itunes is 10.6.3 and
Mac OS X version 10.5.8 / Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
not sure what else to do at this point.  Any help will be greatly appreciated..
    Thank you.

The iPhone 5, iPad Mini and iPad with Retina all require the following for iTunes
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) was the last version of OS X that requires a Disc.  All further updates can be downloaded from the Mac App Store (which became available with Snow Leopard).
If you live near an Apple Retail Store, you may be able to purchase one from them.
Not trying to steal Niel's thunder, just trying to give an explanation of why.
    Best of luck.
