I cannot start Firefox on startup. Here's my crash report: Crash ID: bp-446e3e44-4c7a-4b53-80f0-c6c4c2130724

Every time I start Firefox, it crashes immediately. I've tried everything and spent a lot of time trying to fix it but couldn't. I uninstalled, delete Mozilla Firefox file, re-installed it and again it crashed and couldn't open.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

• I cannot start firefox because of a security problem after it crashed. What should I do to fix it?

I use Vista on my dell inspiron 1721. Firefox closed itself, computer shut itself down, a lot of 'corrupted files' were deleted without my interference, and when Vista finally came back up, Firefox wouldn't start. Nowit says I have to fix the firefox directory. How do I do that? The help page on the profile didn't help me. Thanks, mhixon This started when I was browsing on Drudge report. The popup message said:
Could not initialize the application's security component. ....
I could not start firefox again after that.
How do I update a graphics driver?

You may need to delete the file secmode.db as well.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

• [solved] cannot start firefox after xulrunner update on oct 4

since upgrading yesterday i cannot start firefox.
the console gives the following error message:
Could not find compatible GRE between version 1.9.0.1 and 1.9.0.1.
A quick google search shows a gentoo bug with the same symptoms - the solution was recompiling firefox. Is anybody else having this problem?
edit: apparently i had firefox-branded installed and therefore didn't get the upgraded pacman package - could somebody please delete this post? thanks

Have tried to uninstall and reinstall.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

• Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below

I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.

Hello. I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. Whew! Sorry for the lengthy question/issue. Your help is greatly appreciated!! Carolyn Burnam

I may have deleted files that had firefox running. Cannot find them, they may have been duplicates. When trying to start firefox got message telling me firefox was already running and had to stop the process or restart pc. Tried that numerous times with no result.

Hey dapaley,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If you can start it in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].

• [Solved] Cannot start firefox nor man pages without root acount.

Hi all,
when i try to start firefox with a normal user account, it doesn't start, but if i do sudo firefox
it do starts.
The same happens with the man pages, if i do man ls
returns "no hay ninugna pagina sobre ls", but if i do sudo man ls
the man page appears.
Can anyone offer suggestions? Is there information you need? Thanks in advance.

My current values in /etc/profile.d/mozilla-commons.sh are:
export PATH="${PATH}:/opt/mozilla/bin:/usr/bin"
i added :/usr/bin but there is no change, even if i comment that line, nothing changes
with MANPATH /usr/profile i have
export MANPATH="/usr/man:/usr/X11R6/man"
my manual pages are in /usr/man, but one more time even if i comment that line, nothing changes
sudo man ls -> the man page appears
man ls -> "no hay ninugna pagina sobre ls"
one thing i realized, is that before i made any changes, i try to man as normal user anything on /usr/man subfolders, and that man pages do appear, both sudo and normal user.
but ls vi sudo and other man pages only appear as root.

• I cannot open firefox. I am told that it has crashed. I've sent reports but haven't heard back.

I cannot open firefox in safe mode. I have to use internet explorer.

Have you been using Windows System Restore ? that can cause Firefox problems and sometimes problems similar to yours. (Bug702045)

• Firefox 10.0.1 will not open; I just upgraded from Firefox 9.0 to 10.0.1, the download completed, I clicked the Restart button; but absolutely nothing happens, no error message, nothing; I cannot start Firefox at all.

I have Windows XP SP3. Internet Explorer does work, which is how I'm able to tell you this. I have few plugins, and nothing unusual; in fact, before the popup window invited me to upgrade to Firefox 10.0.1, it first did a check for incompatible plugins and apparently found none.
Maybe I should do a System Restore and not try Firefox 10 again until the bugs are fixed.

You may need to delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing the latest Firefox.
In case you still have problems after installing then check your security software.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
