I cannot stream podcasts to ipad over wifi sharing anymore

I used to be able to use my ipad in the living room to listen to podcasts on my computer in the office via sharing, it was not the most reliable service but when it worked it was fine...
Not anymore...
Using Apple products this last year has been painful... And now this.
I have the latest operating system on the laptop and my iPad 3 and I have the podcast app installed.
I DO NOT WANT TO FILL UP MY IPAD WITH PODCASTS AND WHATS MORE I DO WANT TO WASTE YET MORE HOURS HUNTING THEM DOWN EITHER!!!
I have checked various threads and see no obvious solution, sorry if the answert is out there but what with all the other problems I am having I don't want to waste anymore time on this, so if there is a simple solution that does not involve yet more hours reinstalling god knows what and watching my life pass me by I would be grateful for the help.

I have a workaround that may work some people.
I was at home watch the latest Apple Keynote in iTunes and I wanted to resume watching it on my iPad.  So I selected the entry and did <CMD> I then selected "Options" and changed Media Kind to "Movie" instead of Podcast.  On the iPad I went to the Video app and played the rest of it while walking around the house.
Now I just have to remember to set it back to Podcast, so it'll be in the right place in iTunes.

  • Cannot sync iPhone or iPad over WIFI

Since upgrading to Yosemite, IOS 8.1 and iTunes 12, I can no longer snyc over WiFi both iPhone 6 or iPad Mini. Both devices do not show up in iTunes toolbar over WiFi. For a brief moment after IOS 8.02 upgrade to  8.1, I was able to both connect and sync over WiFi and I thought the problem was solved by the IOS upgrade. I was wrong. Any suggestions?

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all components as directed in here.?

I'm trying to sync my ipad over wifi, with my MAC, I have the updated software on my MAC, the ipad is up to dat 6.1.2.  I can follow all of the steps, but I can't find a SUMMARY button on the toolbar, nor do I receive the option to sync.  What am I doing wrong or what should I look for?  Thank You

To sync your iPad over Wifi:
First ensure you're running iTunes 11.0.2. And you already have your iPad up to date, good.
Plug your iPad into the Mac via USB. Click your iPad in the top toolbar (under the search bar). Click the Summary tab if it isn't already selected. Check the box to "Sync with this iPad over Wi-Fi" (you may have to scroll down to see it). And now click the Apply button at the bottom right.
You should be able to unplug your iPad from the Mac and it should still remain in iTunes. (If not, try Quitting and relaunching iTunes and waiting, restarting iPad, etc).
To initiate a sync over Wifi, click your iPad in the toolbar in iTunes then click Sync. Or on your iPad, go to Settings > General > iTunes Wifi Sync and tap "Sync Now."
If this didn't solve your problem, please let me know with a more detailed explanation of what you're experiencing so I can try to help you get up and syncing wirelessly!

  • Add movies to iPad over WiFi that are already purchased

Hi - I am considering whether to purchase a 16gb or 32gb. I do not plan on have more than 4 HD movies on the device at a time, with a dozen or so plus apps, and a few books(mostly Kindle books). I was wondering if it is possible to download movies from iTunes wirelessly via WifI that have already been purchased. For example, if I am away from my computer for a few days is it possible to delete movies off the iPad and then install new ones that have already been purchased over Wifi. Additionally is it also possible to purchase movies on the iPad over WiFi that have not already been purchased.
Thanks in advance for the comments and advice.

For example, if I am away from my computer for a few days is it possible to delete movies off the iPad and then install new ones that have already been purchased over Wifi.
Not without paying for the movie again, and the same applies to music.
An exception to this is with 3rd party apps. You can re-download a 3rd party app from the app store with your iPad or with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.
Additionally is it also possible to purchase movies on the iPad over WiFi that have not already been purchased.
    Yes.

  • Mac will not sync with ipad over wifi

I have iTunes set to sync with the ipad over wifi; wifi is turned on on both mac and ipad; both are logged in but i can only sync using a cable plugged into the mac. Any ideas why.
    Thanks for the help

Your MacBook must be quite old.  My suggestion is to sell it and replace it with a newer model that can support later software.  You have probably received many years of good service from the old machine.
    Good luck.

  • Itunes won't recognize my iPhone 6 or iPad over Wifi

Since I got iPhone 6 last week. All my iCloud and iTunes seem messed. I had to reset passwords for example. Now When I go to iTunes, it does not recognize my phone or iPad over Wifi.

    Howdy keyofgmac,
So you have your iPhone and iPad on the same Wi-Fi network yet iTunes is not seeing them.

  • How to *stream* podcasts on iPad with iOS6.1?

I've just updated to iOS6.1 and am wanting to use my iPad as my music center.  It sits on my desk right next to me all day, connected over Wifi, so I have no concerns about data usage.
I simply want to be able to stream a podcast.  Note that I do not want to DOWNLOAD these podcasts to my iPad in advance, or sync them via iTunes, etc.  I simply want to hit play on them and have them start streaming, just like if I hit play on them from iTunes on my computer.
I can't seem to figure out if this is even possible.  In the process, I have deleted the Podcasts app.  This has brought podcast support back in the Music app again, but ONLY for my shared library on my iMac.  This makes running Music on the iPad pretty pointless since I still have to have iTunes running on the iMac as well.
How can I get Music to stream  podcasts without having to sync & download them to the device first?  This seems like a pretty basic thing since it's fundamentally the way podcasts work in iTunes.
I did try syncing a playlist full of podcasts to the iPad, thinking that maybe then the iPad would stream those podcasts... but the playlist comes into the iPad completely empty, not a song in it.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Um, where did I say iOS was useless?  Any particular reason you're attributing a quote to me that I never said?  Also I did not make any conclusions, I asked two questions.  It may behoove you to learn the difference.  Since you're going to be snarky, I will in my response as well.
    Specifically, I asked:
"Are iOS devices useless as podcast streamers unless..."
To further clarify since you don't seem to follow the logic here:
If an iOS device can not stream a podcast that was added via iTunes, then
If the user (that would be me) does not wish to have to find their podcasts all over again within the Podcast app, then
iOS devices are useless as podcast streamers unless you find the podcast from within the iOS device itself.
This is pretty basic logic.  I am in no way suggesting that iOS is useless, or that iOS devices themselves are useless.  My statement was quite specific as to the exact conditions under which they appear to be useless, and so far nobody has shown this logic to be incorrect.  I welcome showing me that the logic is incorrect by explaining how exactly I can stream the podcasts that are already in my iTunes playlists from my iPad.
I will take a look at Stitcher radio and see if it can play my existing podcasts in iTunes.  Adding podcasts to the Podcast page in iTunes is no help because that does exactly what I want to avoid - copying the actual Podcast media to the device.  This would exceed the capacity of the iPad (64G model) by at least 10x.

  • Itunes finding ipad over wifi

Has anyone else had problems with their ipad syncing over wifi to your itunes. Before the ios5.1 update it worked fine now nothing. Keeps saying will sync when my computer is available?

I cannot syn via Wi-Fi because my computer is only running Leopard and that OS does not support Wi-Fi sync.
So while I cannot test this theory I'm thinking that you might have to connect your iPad to your computer and start iTunes. Then go back and reset the preferences to Wi-Fi sync. Hopefully this will work for you.
You might also try first a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • IMPORTANT: AirPlay icon on iPad over WiFi - RESOLVED

    Hi,
    RESOLVED
    The situation was:
    - a new Apple TV
    - a local network with an Ethernet/WiFi router (in my case, ASUS)
    - Apple TV is connected over WiFi
    - Macs are connected via Ethernet/wired connection
    - iPads are connected over WiFi
I have set up Apple TV, it successfully connected to the WiFi network with WPA2 and I did successfully entered it into the MAC-filtered access list on the router for added security.
Mac OS X 10.8 (Ethernet) showed up the AirPlay mirroring option immediately. On iPads EVERYTHING failed:
    - turning WiFi on;
    - rebooting the iPad;
    - resetting the iPad;
    - rebooting all devices on the network, including the Apple TV and the router.
The icon still did not appear both in apps on the iPad and in the Recent Apps pane in the bottom.
The solution which resolved my case:
DISABLE AP ISOLATION in wireless network settings on the router and reboot it to apply changes.
This option was hidden under "Set AP isolated" in my case.
After disabling it, iPads started working normally, connections are stable, AirPlay icon is displayed correctly on all iPads when Apple TV is on.
For those interested, this is WHY this option affects:
"Enabling AP Isolation on the router isolates all the wireless devices that use your network, so that each device can communicate with the router but not with each other. The AP isolation function effectively creates a distinct virtual network for each wireless device that connects to the router. Isolating the wireless devices from each other stops an unauthorized user from manipulating the network connection to hack into a connected computer or mobile device."
Would be great if Apple could add this to Wireless Troubleshooting guide or AirPlay troubleshooting guide!
Hope this will save you a lot of excitement with great Apple products!
    Best regards,
    Godhell

I've checked your model - it doesn't seem to have the ability to isolate wireless clients - it's not written anywhere at least.
For what could help to understand the cause, I'd check the ARP table on the router (go to Wireless/Station list) for the existence of MAC addresses for both the Apple TV and your iPad.
I'd make a wired connection of any Mac to the router just for the test - if it works, the problem is most likely that the router does have AP isolation - and enabled by default, which you can't change with standard firmware.
In this case, I'd make a little research on whether there are any custom firmware releases (like dd-wrt) for your model and whether they can be flashed (usually it's easy) - they _may_ provide access to the option of disabling AP isolation if it's really there but hidden from common users.
    Other things I'd check:
    - are all devices on DHCP?
    - DHCP lease expires?
    - try to assign addresses manually to eliminate any DHCP address distribution issues
    - check the MTU in LAN settings - if you've got a non-standard value (certain Internet providers like to complicate things) - could be a problem for certain network services in case of a mismatch
    Hope that could help,
    Best regards,
    Godhell

  • Can I save my photos from my Nikon Coolpix AWS 120 camera to my camera roll on my ipad over wifi without using any type of adapter but only using wifi?

Can I use my ipad mini and my wifi camera to save my photos on my ipad without using an adapter and only using wifi? If so. How

Not unless you import them to your computer first, then sync with iTunes over WiFi, but I suspect that sort of defeats the purpose.
Just use the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter to connect your camera directly, or alternatively, the SD Card Adapter.

  • Cannot stream photos from iPad, cannot stream audio from Pandora

Updated to iOS 4.2.1 and I can stream audio from the iPod app on the iPad to the ATV2, so I know AirPlay is working. But, I cannot stream photos (there is no AirPlay icon showing on top of the screen, unlike the video demo from Apple.com web site). Also, cannot stream audio from Pandora (again, no AirPlay icon).
The odd thing is that I can stream Pandora audio from the iPhone 4. But, not photos (same problem as with the iPad).
Is anybody able to stream photos from either iPad or iPhone? How about Pandora audio from the iPad?

Apparently what is happening, and this was brought up in another thread, and what I suspected was happening as well, is that the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch is not streaming the video itself directly to the AppleTV (it might be streaming it if it's audio only, haven't confirmed). What it's apparently doing is, is telling the AppleTV2 to download the video and play it on its own, starting with xx:xx timestamp directly from youtube or your iTunes library. This is why it's only working with your iTunes library or the built-in YouTube app. And also why it wouldn't work with the camera roll, because it isn't streaming directly from the iPhone. So it's not exactly what we were originally thinking or expecting.

  • I cannot install apps on my iPhone or iPad over WiFi

I have erased my iPhone, changed my Credit Card, changed my passwords, reset my wifi router. There is nothing more to do. Can anyone help me install apps on my iPhone? I've never had this problem before. I simply cannot install apps. The end. Not updates, not new purchases, not free purchases, nothing.

You can turn off iTunes match from settings> music> iTunes match> off. However you may wish to simply hide the content which is not on your phone until you are in a location where you are able to download content that isn't. You can do this at settings> music> show all music> off.
