I cannot switch gmail account users in iTunes

I am trying to sync my wife's iphone with her gmail account but it keeps pulling contacts from my gmail account instead.
I first configured itunes to use my gmail account for my iphone some months ago. I keep my iphone in sync with my gmail account.
This morning I plug in my wife's new iphone, change the contacts sync account to her gmail account, using her password, and then sync the device. Her phone is now populated with my gmail contacts, not hers. I've checked her gmail contacts via the web and they are not the same as what is in my account.
I turned off contact syncing, selected the option to remove contacts, resync'ed, then her phone had no contacts - this was the correct and expected behaviour.
I shutdown iTunes, relaunched, checked the contacts sync option again, verified that the gmail account was set to her user id and password, re-sync'ed and it still downloaded the contacts from my gmail account.
Besides being extremely frustrating that I cannot manage two iPhones with two different gmail accounts, this seems like a huge security hole if iTunes is secretly caching my gmail account credentials.

Try going to www.appleid.apple.com on your Mac/PC and resetting your password.

Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes. How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.

As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch. I updated to iOS5 this summer, but some programs/apps got very slow, but the biggest, consistent problem is the Calendar app. I'm thinking perhaps this could be related to email and gmail. So here are my questions about email settings.
I want to try switching my "gmail" account to "exchange." Is this a good idea, would it help with push capability and perhaps be better for calendar too? Will it conflict and be a problem to have 2 "exchange" accounts or will they cause problems with each other?
I have 2 email addresses / accounts that get email on my iPod. They are both @gmail.com addresses set as IMAP.
One is set as: "Gmail" with Mail, Calendars and Notes "ON." This account is my main account and in the last couple of months, my email no long "pushes" to the device (i.e. it won't show up in notifications center, or download at all until I go to the inbox screen). When you go to look at the settings of this "gmail" account there is no slide bar about mail folders to push, it's just not there.
The 2nd is set as "exchange" with "Mail" only turned on. (I read an article way back that said this is the way to have 2 email addresses that stay separate but can be checked on one device.) This email account does "push" new messages as there is a slider bar that has this option turned on.
So the questions are above and here to:
1. Can I switch a "gmail" account set up on iPod Touch to "exchange." If so, how do I do this? Will I lose all data (email, calendar, notes) and info currently downloaded to the device? Will it all come back if I make a change?
2. Will this work with the 2nd "exchange" gmail account? Will it keep the 2 email addresses separate with different inboxes and folders as they are in gmail? Will there be any conflict or corruption or funky problems having 2 "exchanges"?
3. Any sense of whether "exchange" is better for gmail calendar functionality too? I have a horrible time with the Calendar app simply not working, it freezes, it shows everything blank but when I quit and reload it sometimes comes back and all my data is there. I've downloaded other calendar apps (Week Calendar and CalenMod) and they also have problems so I feel it's got something to do with how the wifi sends info to the device.

Okay, thanks for the article and the heads up that exchange is going away soon. But that article is talking about setting up a "gmail" account in settings which is what I have already and push doesn't seem possible this way. Is there another or better option to have 2 separate email gmail accounts fetching and pushing data to one device?

Cannot switch admin account to standard

I've managed to convert my admin account to a standard account on my MacBook Pro, however, on my iMac this didn't work. Both systems were upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, the iMac from ML to Mavericks.
I cannot disable the Allow user to administer this computer item on my iMac -- that is, I did disable it, I was requested to reboot after that, but now the box is still ticked but I cannot untick it (from the Admin account that I've created). So I'm still working with admin rights .

In a way it makes sense that the original Admin Account can;t be changed. If a user changed that account to non-admin and that was the only admin account it would be a mess to undo it. I agree that there should be some indication of this and even the ability to over rider it in a case like yours.
As there isn't the next best thing will be for you to duplicate the current admin account as a new user account and then use that duplicated account.

Added gmail account synched with itunes lost ical

I was having trouble deleting gmail messages--- seemed like I was going in circles deleting them from one bin, then finding them in another and deleting them there, only to find them back in the original bin.
So I deleted my gmail account from my iPhone and set it up again. Then I synched my iPhone to my Apple laptop using iTunes. My phone gave me a message about deleting calendars and I thought that I was deleting one from my phone so I deleted it. Now I have no calendar events either on the laptop or on the phone.
Any way that I can recover my calendar events?

Hi Michael,
Yes it is now resolved but not after I send iTunes a request for help and explaining the problem. They send a first reply explaining how I needed to verify my account and gave me the link to do that. You and I know that this did not help, so I replied telling them that this was not working and iTunes did the reset for me.
You may want to open a help ticket with iTunes help. That is the only way it works.

Mail cannot access gmail accounts

I use iOS 7.0.4
Since earlier today, mail stopped working with my (several) Gmail accounts.
I have not changed the password in Gmail or something like that. I tried re-entering the password on the iPhone, deleting and re-creating the account - nothing worked.
I have exactly the same issue on my iPad and Macbook.
iCloud account works, Gmail accounts don't.
Gmail works with other Email clients and the website.
Any idea what I can try to correct the issue?

Cannot create gmail account

My gmail stopped working on the mac. I deleted the account and now it will not even let me create a gmail account.

I removed the name for the screen shot but it is in there. I have gone to Google to make sure that imap is enabled. I have followed the instructions there, on the apple site, and some on this board but nothing works. I checked the port settings, the SSL settings, incoming and outgoing server names. And they told me a mac would be easy!!!!

SSL 993. Also tried TLS 587. For office 365 the same combo's. No results.

Lots of thread on the web about "This problem" very few solutions though or you would not be here.
The usual cause is anti virus or firewall. Which is why solutions are thin on the ground. Have you tried starting windows in safe made with networking? and then starting Thunderbird

Hi, I am facing a problem, the scenarios as i connect my iphone using my MBP, than it alert me with updating IOS, from my current version IOS 6 to IOS 6.1.2. After a series of downloading the update from iTunes, the phone restarted as normal process, and require me to connect my iphone to iTunes, so, i followed plugged in my usb to my MBP and connect the other end to my iphone. However, iTunes doesn't seems to recorgnize my device, it doen't shown any iphone been connected to my iphone and my iphone stil showing please connect to iTunes. Further, i tried to charge my iphone using charger, and it cannot be charge as well, it seems like my connector spoilt or the connector of my iphone got shut down during the process. I don't understand what you mean by twirling, but I assume you have difficulties opening and/or working with Mail.
If so, you can try to rebuild your Mail index.
Before that however, repair your permissions and verify your disk. Do this from Disk Utility found in the Utilities folder. Select your hard disk (the first one top left) and click repair permissions. Then click verify disk.

One thing to try is when you get the message about setting up with ssl, tap no.
Now tap save again at the top.
You should get a message about not being able to send or receive.
Tap save anyway.
Now go to the home screen and tap on mail at the bottom.

Cannot change old Gmail account to MobileMe

I know that other people have had this issue, but this still seems like a glowing oversight. I used to use my gmail account for all iTunes purchases. Now, me and my wife (new mac users) are in the same household and want to use our new mobileme name for all iTunes purchases. Unfortunately, iTunes won't let me change a non-mobileme address to a mobileme address in my account settings. I want to keep all my app store purchases and downloads on the new name, but it won't let me.
For some reason though, I don't seem to have to authorize computers for old protected content anymore. Weird.
It seems odd that you can't transition purchases to a mobileme account? Is this a known bug, or is it just Apple policy to not permit this change? Thanks.
