Cannot restore iPhone 3GS unknown error occurred (40)
I was using my iPhone yesterday and the battery went dead. When I charged it, the iTunes logo with the cable appeared on the screen. I tried connecting my iPhone to my computer via iTunes, then it said that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode saying that I have to restore it. After clicking OK and restore on itunes, I received an error (40). I've attached a screenshot from it.
My friend gave me this iPhone. I honestly cannot afford your product but I can say that it is the best phone that I had so far. Please help me.
Thanks.Hello,
I'm interested in your topic, because I have the same problem.
So, I'm wondering if do you solve this ?

The error message I get on my PC is "The ITunes library file cannot be saved" An unknown error occurred (-50)and my music library has disappeared. I recently tried to copy a CD to my library - it appeared to copy ok but then did not appear in my music library. The library does not show up even when my iPad is connected to my PC. My entire library is now held on my iPad and I wish to have it in iTunes so I can sync my iPhone to it as well. Help?
Don't know what changed today but it downloaded and installed on the shuffle. So far so good.

Today, my iPad2 wouldn't delete mail. Then the screen turned black. I turned the iPad2 off then on. Got black screen. Tried backing up to iTunes. Got the message "iTunes cannot connect to this iPhone because unknown error occurred (OxE8000065). Help, please.
Did you try restarting it by holding down the hold and lock button at the same time until you get the apple logo? If you already tried that then you should try putting it in DFU mode and doing a restore by following these instructions- http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034

When restoring and updating my iPhone I am getting the following message " iTunes could not update to the carrier settings for your iPhone.an unknown error occurred (1630).can anyone please with a knowledge tell me what I should do please. Thank you
The search bar can be very valuable...........
In using it, I found out other's have had this issue and it likely means you have a 3G iPad? If you do, go into settings and turn off cellular data, then try to update again and you should be OK........ -
when I click on check for update I get error, iTunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPhone. an unknown error occurred 1630
Make sure your network setting are correct and your network connection is active or try again latter.update your itunes to 10.5.2 and error is not showing up anymore..

Hi, I keep getting an error message saying "the itunes library cannot be saved. an unknown error occurred. (-50). Any ideas on how to stop this appearing? Thanks!
Error -50 is a very unhelpful generic communications error with a number of possible causes. Something between the drive to which you are downloading and the drive from which it is all coming is not working correctly, which probably leaves several hundred options.

Upgraded my iPhone 3G to 3.0. All went smoothly and everything seems to be working fine. Only issue was that my music had disappeared. Went on to resync it but iTunes shows that the music is still there - but I cannot do anything with it: cannot add to it, cannot delete it, etc. Suspect files are fine but library is corrupt. Was hoping that adding or deleting a song would force a library reindexing but no luck.
"the iphone "name" cannot be synced an unknown error occurred (-208)"
Any suggestion on how to resolve this (outside of a device reset...)?
Thanks in advance. The software can be found on Download.com, it's Ipod Copy 7.47. It's $20, but works perfectly.

ITunes comes up saying the iTunes library files cannot be saved. an unknown error occured
iTunes comes up saying the iTunes library files cannot be saved. an unknown error occured
what should i doNote: Close iTunes completely before doing any of this.
After getting this error, I found a bunch of Temp files in the same folder as my iTunes library. The thing that stuck me as odd about this was that there were 4-5 of them labeled "Temp File.xml", "Temp File2.xml", etc. and when I tried to select any of them, the selected file(s) would mysteriously disappear. I ended up Selecting everything except the Temp File.xml files, and moving it elsewhere (I actually just put in a new folder in the parent folder).
I then deleted/"Move to Trash"ed the folder that used to contain my Library, and renamed the new folder to have the same name as the old folder.
Then I clicked on the iTunes icon (hold down option/alt from before you click, until the "choose library" dialog appears), and chose my old iTunes Library. This re-linked my old library and restored it to how it was before error (-48) started rearing its ugly head.
(Windows users, when you re-open iTunes to link your library back in... you double click the icon, then immediately press-and-hold "shift" until the dialog appears) -
Hello,
this morning I received the following error message when the iPhone connected to iTunes: i
tunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iphone. an unknown error occurred (1635)
any ideas? thxI get the same error (although in Dutch ;-)).
It also says something like (I'm translating): "Make sure your network settings are correct and your networkconnection is active or try again later." Is there a way to find out these "correct networksettings"?
I now get it for a week, eacht time I connect my iPhone to itunes... -
Error Message: cannot be imported an unknown error occured (-50)
I get this message when I try to import audio and video files to the library. "cannot be imported an unknown error occured (-50)" I've already tried disabling anti-virus software and deleted any spyware on the system. I'm running windows xp with service pack 2.
I would like help fixing the problem.
THANK YOUhmmmmmm. this can sometimes be caused by a damaged itunes library file in a particular XP user account.
What are the iTunes Library files?
let's try an experiment aimed at trying to work out if that's what is going on in your case. (this isn't a cure, it's more of a diagnostic technique.)
let's try an experiment.
quit itunes. head into your user accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights. (there's help documentation on how to do that at the left of the control panel screen.) while you're in that control panel, switch off "fast user switching" in your logging-on preferences.
now log out of the old account and log into the new account. launch itunes.
the library in there will be blank, because there's a different set of library files in that account. try importing a CD in that account. does it go through okay, or do you get the (-50) there too? -
