I cannot turn off my ipod

I'm pressing and holding the play/pause button but my ipod does not seem to turn off!
It's draining my battery! I dont know if this topic is suppose to be on this forum but i just need help!!!
Can anyone please help me out?

I cannot turn off the Ipod (when I click to the bottom ) anymore as following message appears:
"FireWire connections are not supported to transfer songs, connect to the USB cable provided"
Even resetting the Ipod the message appears again and again and I dont have the slightest idea what the IPOD is trying to tell me. I have regularly uploaded the songs via Itunes with the USB cable (Nothing else) and I use the official I-Fusion Sonic Impact to hear the songs in loud. Can there be the connection, because I remember that this message started appearing when the IPOD was connected to the I-Fusion.
In order to turn the IPOD I have to leave it on till it turns off due to battery deload...Very sad solution, isnt it?

It sounds like you have reached the authorization limit of 5 computers. So if you need to authorize another one, either deauthorize any other computers have authorized in the past that you still have physical access to or use the Deauthorize All option as described in this article.

Cannot turn off ipod

I cannot turn off my ipod nano. I held down all of the different buttons to see if that made a difference, but it swtill wont work. does anyone know what i can do to make it shut off so it wont eat up the battery?

I have the same problem, my nano just stays on all the time, i cant turn it off at all, i tried restoring it and updated the software, tried to reset it and no matter what it just wont turn off. the nano works fine, other than the fact it wont turn off. also i charged it and when it was done charging i took it out of the charger and didnt turn it on, but when i did i noticed that some of the battery had died, meaning the battery was dying even while the screen was blank. help please!

How can i turn off my ipod?

ipod had turned off before, but now cannot turn it off. It continues to stay on. I've tried to use hold switch to see if that helps, but ipod still won't turn off, and it uses up my battery. Holding play/pause button on the click wheel doesn't seem to work anymore. Does anyone have an idea how I can turn off the ipod?

Try holding the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons until you see the Apple logo to reset it.
Then see if it will turn off.

To turn off an iPod:
Press and hold the Play/Pause button on your iPod until you see the screen go black.
As for deleting content off your iPod: you cannot delete any songs or other items off of your iPod without connecting your iPod to iTunes, or at least your computer (there are some progras you can use to manage your iPod. Also, you can view your iPod in "My Computer", and alter it there).

Turn off an iPod configured with Apple Configurator and in supervise mode locked to one application.

I have configured an iPod touch using the Apple configurator. The iPod is set in supervisor mode and I have configured it to start one of our own apps. It works ok. But I can't turn off the iPod holding the on/off button as usual. I dont get the turn off slider. I can only turn the display off by clicking on the on/off button.
I want to be able to turn it off completely to save battery.

I wouldn't suggest going to get it yourself. You could find yourself in a situation you cannot get out of and could get hurt. Second, as stated before, it is more for misplaced or lost devices, not stolen devices. Many police agencies do not feel they have probable cause, just from your statement on a map location to justify attempts to recover the device. I had the same thing happen to me Thursday night, and I just got mine right 30 minutes ago (and it is now Saturday am). Like you I repeatedly tried to restore it (by holding down the home key and powere button at the same time; then plugging it up to my computer and trying to get it to restore through iTunes). My computer didn't initially recognize my ipod either. - One thing- be sure that your battery isn't dead/dying. If it is, charge it (it should charge-mine did), then start the process of restoring it again. Make sure when you hold the home and power keys down that you are linked to iTunes.- You will eventually get a screen that has the itunes icon it, with a usb cable underneath it. At that point your computer will recognize your ipod, and you'll be able to restore it...This will take a LONG time.- Good luck.
