im having problems with fire fox it seems that it has a virus and i cannot uninstall it from programs and features

1. Isn't it possible to use xchg to swap the functions?
Something like:
ref_sys_open = (void *) xchg(sys_call_table[__NR_open], new_sys_open); <---- switch to custom function
xchg(sys_call_table[__NR_open], ref_sys_open); <----- siwtch back to original function
2. I'm getting "BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request" and functions aren't switched back to original ones. That's probably from the functions that try to set RW/RO, but I'm not sure why it's happening. (I'm on x64). Have you had the same problem?

all of the boxes are properly checked and it still updates. I want total control of what goes on my computer. I hate auto updates, I want to tell it when and if to update. Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.
