I cannot update itunes to 10.2.2. Missing itunes64.msi error.

I have had Itunes for years. I've never received an error before. When I go to update Itunes+Quicktime I get an error saying itunes64.msi is missing.  I tried uninstalling it and it won't uninstall because itunes64.msi is missing.  It says it should be under Users\Cindy\App Data\Local\Apple\Apple SoftwareUpdate.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Trying to update iTunes but apparently I am missing  iTunes64.msi file. What can I do to update?

What can I do to update iTunes when it needs iTunes64.msi file which I don't seem to have anywhere?

    Hi rachelvariety,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that these types of situations with iTunes can be very frustrating. In this situation I would suggest removing iTunes and its related components and then install the person you need directly from the Apple website. Please use the attached article for information on what components to remove and the order to remove them.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then restart your computer.
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended affects.
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • I cannot update or reinstall iTunes. Says I'm missing iTunes64.mis?

Arrrggghhh! I somehow got a corrupted file so now I cannot repair, uninstall, update, or install a second version of iTunes. It doesn't matter what product I'm using, I'm trying to update the iTunes version on my Windows laptop. It will only go so far then say it's missing "iTunes64.msi"  I have tried to look for this file on a desktop PC that has iTunes loaded and cannot find the file. Any suggestions that do not include restoring my laptop to original configuration?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Did you attempt to update with Software Update? Try this instead: download the combo updater here:

Once downloaded, unplug all peripherals except keyboard and mouse
    Verify disk as outlined previously
    install update
repair permissions (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)
    restart Mac
    run Software Update
if there are many updates available, install a few at a time
    repair permissions after the install

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

  • TS1394 how can i get upgrade the ios x v 10.5.8? I purchased an iphone 5 but cannot connect with my macbook 5. I cannot update itune 11 as my ios is not up to date

how can i get upgrade the ios x v 10.5.8? I purchased an iphone 5 but cannot connect with my macbook 5. I cannot update itune 11 as my ios is not up to date

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
OS 10.6 Snow Leopard is once again available from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

    @them,
I'm just a user like you who volunteers my time here. Your technical question requires the response from a support engineer.
I do sincerely think you'll get a better response by asking in the Downloading, Installing, Setup forum which I referenced in post #3. They have support engineers who monitor that forum for these kind of issues. This forum can only deal with general issues. Sorry.
