I cannot use java jre in lion, I cannot use java jre in lion

Hi I need to use an online banking service which requires Java - I have ensured that my Java is fully up to dat and even installed the developers version but I cannot access the online banking service.
I am using Lion - any ideas?

Uninstall any Java you have now and install this
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421
Reboot and see if that works, it could be your site isn't compatible with Lion/Safari yet.
You can use Firefox or even Chrome web browers, see if those work.

why OS X lion Java got new update?

This article may shed some light on it:
    http://jaxenter.com/apple-to-remove-java-from-mac-os-x-32293.html
A Java update is available, and should appear when you first run a Java applet on Lion.

  • Use 2 jre versions (Java 5.x and Java 6.x) on diferent web pages.

    On windows XP SP3.
I need use on internet explorer 7 and firefox 3, 2 differents JRE versions for two diferent servers
    example:
    - "www.site1.com" needs java 5.x (don't work with java 6.x)
    - "www.site2.com" needs java 6.x (don't work with java 5.x)
If i have installed both versions, internet explorer and firefox even uses java 6.x, and i only can use java 5.x if uninstall java 6.x
I need use to default use: java 6.x; except for "www.site1.com" that i need use java 5.x
How can use both JRE versions?

Questions: Do you plan to use the same web browser? The earlier applet running on JRE 1.5.x cannot run on 1.6 ? Sun puts forth a lot of effort in attempt to ensure that applets are forwards compatible.

    @jnsmth
I see Barney-15E made suggestions regarding Chrome preferences. There's also a setting on the Mac to deal with this. Regarding the drop-down menus not seeming to scroll through (such as a list of states)--where when you place or click your cursor over the drop-down menu and it only opens to some of the options in a list, I found that you have to change the scroll bar behavior in your computer's (and not the browser's) General Preferences within your System Preferences.
Open System Preferences, and click on "General" inside the top row of "Personal Preferences" (as it is in my system with Mountain Lion, and I think prior operating systems before that).
Once inside General Preferences, select the radio button option for your scroll bar which you'd like to use in the "Show scroll bar:" section ("Automatically based on mouse or trackpad," "When scrolling," or "Always." If you're using a mouse and not a trackpad, you'd probably want to select "Always" as it takes swiping over the drop-down list on the trackpad to enable (make visible) the scroll bar and/or scroll the list.
Either with the installation of Mountain Lion, or the installation of my trackpad (I'm using a desktop iMac and not a Macbook / laptop) I found that the righthand scroll bars seem to automatically disappear. When I moused over or clicked on a drop-down menu (such as the list of states) I'd see only the first few options in the list. In order to access the rest of the states (get the list to scroll) you have to either have the scroll bar setting set to show "Always" or (if you have a trackpad) use the trackpad to swipe/scroll while hovering your cursor over the list's items to get it to scroll the list, and thus then show/reveal the lefthand scroll bar (which can then be accessed with your mouse if you prefer.
This confused me at first when my scroll bars seemed to disappear, but was an easy fix.
Hope that helps with that part of your issue.

  • Cannot uninstall Java JRE 1.7 32bits

For some reason my firefox browser stopped detecting java and now I can't run anything with java on it because it says that it's not installed, so I went to add/remove programs and tried to uninstall java but it just won't get removed.
    http://rcupload.com/images/IDSnu.png
So when I try to uninstall it (Java(TM) 7 Update 5) a little window appears with a progress bar, after it completes it disappears but Java is still there..
this is the window that appears: http://rcupload.com/images/HLUwZ.png
Here's what I tried to do:
    1) Use CCleaner to uninstall it: - I choose the program, press uninstall and it disappears, but when I refresh the list it will still be there. I also tried using the "remove entry" button in CCleaner and i just get a message saying "cannot delete msi installer'.
    2) I tried using JavaRA: - I ran it as administrator, clicked "remove older versions", and I got the message that Java JDK 1.7 was uninstalled and all the files, but now I see that there is no folder for it at "C:\program files (x86)\Java\" (there was one inside before, called something like jre-7) and the icon in the installed programs appears like a white box instead of looking the like the java logo.
    3) I tried downloading java and installing it: - I run it, it downloads and it gets to a screen where it asks me if I want to install a toolbar, I click next and I get this message: http://rcupload.com/images/xiCIu.png
I also tried changing the destination folder. same result.
-- Resumed: I need to get rid of Java(TM) 7 Update 5 but the uninstaller seems not to work and files are missing.
    Any help will be appreciated!
    Thanks.

Hi - using the Microsoft fix-it tool available here, running as administrator, did the trick for me: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
I selected the options that allowed me to manually choose which program to uninstall...then I was able to re-install java from the Oracle Java 7 download/installer.
    Good luck!

  • HT5246 The above info is confuses me.  I thought this trojan horse affected those who had Java (JRE) up and running  i.e.,Safari security Java checkbox enabled.  I also believed this Trojan horse affected those using Snow Leopard. Clarify please.

The above info re the Flashback removal tool confuses me.  I thought this trojan horse affected those who had Java (JRE) up and running  i.e.,Safari security Java checkbox enabled.  I also believed this Trojan horse also affected those using Snow Leopard. Clarify please.

There are several variants of the trojan. The first ones were released as installers for Adobe Flash and therefore did not require you to have Java on your system. Later variants took advantage of a Java vulnerability and could install themselves by simply visiting a rogue Web site. Therefore, even without Java installed if you had run a rogue updater for Adobe Flash or Reader, then you might have installed the trojan.
The trojan also affects Snow Leopard and prior versions of OS X (so far the code is known to be intel-only, but this is unconfirmed), but Apple has only issued patches for supported versions of the OS (version 10.6 or later).
Apple's removal tools run in OS X 10.6 or later if you instlal the Java update, and the standalone removal tool is for Lion only. Why Apple does not offer options for other operating systems is beyond me, but that's the way of things. Right now there are other tools you can use to check for and remove the malware on versions of OS X that Apple does not support: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57413811-263/flashback-malware-removal-tool -roundup/

Did you try to open teh fle by double-clicking its icon? If the file was made with an older version of Office, you may get that message. Try opeing PP and, from its "File" menu, see if you can open the ppt. I've foundthat often gets around that message and then yo ucan save the file from the newer version.
If that doesn't work, consider asking in the Microsoft Office: Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac forums
PowerPoint is not an Apple product and it seems a lot of people around here avoid Office.

Any idea what could be causing this? and how I can get rid of it? is this a bug in the JRE?

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.
    Regards.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I cannot open my File Maker Pro files. Can I use Numbers to open these files?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I cannot open my File Maker Pro files. Can I use Numbers to open these files?

Numbers is a spreadsheet program and FileMaker is a database program, so you probably can't use Numbers to open them unless you had first exported them from FileMaker in a spreadsheet-compatible format.
If you upgraded from 10.6 Snow Leopard or earlier and your old copy of FileMaker won't open anymore, it might be a PowerPC application that is not compatible with 10.7 and later. If that is the case, to work with your FileMaker files you should upgrade your copy of FileMaker to the latest version, which seems to be FileMaker 12.

  • After upgrading to mountain lion I cannot use my HD TV as a display through my thunder port and HDMI cable ???

after upgrading to mountain lion I cannot use my HD TV as a display anymore using thunderport and HDMI , which worked before , does this mean I have to buy apple tv to mirror onto my HD TV

can it be something related to wi-fi?  I have read other posts talking about loss of connection using wifi.  I'm connecting my G5 through an airport express which is expanding my wifi generated from my Apple Time Capsule. It is quite difficult for me to relocate the server close to the Time Capsule and vice versa but if it works, at least that would be something.  It was working with Lion about 3 months ago - showing up in Finder, etc.

  • HT4707 Using Lion I cannot "edit" in iPhoto.  Why not?

I recently installed Lion and now when using iPhoto (8.1.2  424) I cannot access "Edit" to enlarge a photo or crop it.  Any reason why?  Something else I need to do now that my operating system is Lion?

Lion is incompatible with that older version of iPhoto.  You need to purchase iPhoto 11 - that's v9. You can do this on the App Store.
    Hope this helps

  • Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • After installing Mountain Lion two drives on my network cannot be accessed.  I am using Parallels to utilize QuickBooks ERP.  The programs and data are on the drives that I can no longer access.  Suggestions?

After installing Mountain Lion on my Mac Book Pro, I can no longer access two shared drives.  Diagostics cannot solve the problem.  I am using Parallels to run Qucikbooks ERP on these shared drives.  How do I get my Mac to see these drives and access them?

Don't know what to tell you, but I also have an AEBS-Gen5 with a MBP Retina and Mac Mini using WiFi. Both are running Mountain Lion and I don't have any WiFi connection issues. Two iPhones in the household use WiFi with no issues along with a printer and 2 Windows 7 laptops.
First thing I would try is to shutdown all computers connected to the AEBS. Then power off the AEBS and finally the cable/DSL modem. Then reverse the order and power on the cable modem, wait for all the lights to be solid, power on the AEBS, wait for the light to show solid green; then power up a computer that uses WiFi.
If the above doesn't work, you might try repairing permissions via Disk Utility. If that doesn't help maybe a PRAM reset would work.

  • Just installed a HP Color Laserjet CM2320nf MFP printer, at the same time I upgraded to Lion. It prints fine, but I cannot use the scan functions.  I downloaded the most recent driver! Any help would be appreciated.

Just installed a HP Color Laserjet CM2320nf MFP printer, at the same time I upgraded to Lion. It prints fine, but I cannot use the scan functions.  I downloaded the most recent driver! Any help would be appreciated.

HP says that the drivers for your all in one print/scanner are downloadable from apple. For the scanner to use preview. image capture or the scan icon from the print driver queue.  I don't know how old your HP is, but I know that the newer Os from apple don't support a lot of older printers. You might be able find a third party driver that could work.
