I cannot use my Apple ID for the apps store, and whenever I put in my credit card information it is declined.

I just transferred to my moms old iPhone. I made a new Apple ID but when info to apps I cannot get them due to the fact that my moms credit cards is being declined

are there funds on the card? because iTunes isn't the one declining the card, its the bank/credit card company. also, is the billing address EXACTLY THE SAME on your bank statement as it is on your account

That's not going to work. You can only sign into an Apple ID on an iOS device once every 90 days. An iPad is a single user device. Yes, you can comingle the content from different Apple IDs on the same iPad, but it is best to download and comingle the content in the iTunes library of a single account on a Mac or PC and then to sync the comingled content to the iPad.

How do I use my I'd for the app store and not my wife.

IT always ask for my wife password and I need it to ask for my password. So I need to change it so it will show my ID and not hers.

Tap on the id in Settings > Store and log out of it and you can then log in with your account. But any apps (and other content) that were downloaded by your wife's account will remain tied to her account, so only her account will be able to download updates to her apps

Why is it in someone else's name?
Did you get this iPhone from that someone else?
If so they should have released the iPhone form their account before giving it to you.
All purchases made with that account will be forever tied to it and will require it to update in the case of Apps.
If nothing has been purchased, you can go into Settings->iTunes & App Stores->Apple ID and sign out of their account there , and sign in with your own.

This caused me to create a new account, and it can be used for the App Store and iTunes and all that, but I can't change the initial iCloud account (the one my mum made). My device keeps prompting me for the password every few minutes after updating to iOS 8, and I've tried every option possible to retrieve the password, but I don't even know the answers to the security questions and I can't find the password reset email anywhere and I don't know the back up emails my mum used. I literally cannot find any legitimate way to sign out of the initial iCloud account without entering a password (which neither I nor my parents know). Is there a way for me to retreive the password or change to my new account without the password?

This same thing happend to me, you have to make a new account and you have to chose your birthday as if your under 18 or 16, because if you dont own a credit card, you shouldnt be over this age, so basictly just make a new email and appleID and when you chose your birthday, do it under 16 years of age (or your REAL birthday) and you should have an option of clicking "none" for credit card options, but if you want to buy something, you will have to do the credit card stuff, or you can just buy an apple gift card at basictly any store, So this is how i fixed my problum, i hope it works for you, write back your responce of how it worked out please!

I set up an AppleID independently of setting up an iPad. I tried to download the free iBooks app and came to a screen asking for the AppleID and then requiring that I enter a payment method. I have seen in forums that this is a common problem. I have updated the os to 5.1. I have tried to log in to iTunes on my pc but with the same result.
Is it yet possible to set up an App store account without payment method using an existing AppleID?

The iBooks app comes pre installed on an iPad.
If you can't locate the iBooks app, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout
If that didn't help, swipe left of the Home screen. Type iBooks in the search field.

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I made an Apple ID and every time I try to log in it say your account has not been used in the app store and has me sign in and agree to terms and conditions then after I press continue a shadow appears we're a window should be and if I click on it sometimes it will have me chose where I'm from or Mr.Mrs.or Ms. But if u press out side the shadow it says do u want to cancel it.? I had this same problem, and it was erased.
For some really odd reason iPads sometimes retain the last user iTunes account on first visit to the iTunes store.
I am thinking it is actually the iTunes store recognising the iPad, and so 'helping' by showing the last log in settings.
So I would also recommend Erase All Content and Settings to start.
If that was done then what you need to do is log in, or create your own itunes account.
This is in Settings, Store.
create your own iTunes account (or log in with an old one).
Purchase something.
Then (as long as you don't have any app from the last owner on) it should never ask for the old account again.

On your iPad, you can open iTunes and click on Purchases. Plus, when you purchase something from iTunes, you should get an email with the purchase details to the email you set up as your Apple ID. They sometimes take a day or two and with the volume of things being purchased with the millions of new iPads out there in the last 3 days, that may be a bit longer. I keep every receipt I get for future reference.
