I cannot use Quicken on my new MacBook Air (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2) Any suggestions?  I love Quicken and it takes care of all my financial needs.

You can wait for Quicken to update (supposedly in the works) or you can switch to another application such as Quicken Essentials or another application of which there are several you will find at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
Otherwise you'll need to return your MBA and buy a slightly older model Mac that still runs Snow Leopard. Lion will not run any PPC-only applications such as Qucken or MS Office 2004.

  • I am trying to install Iphoto on my new MacBook Air adn the install button is grayed out  Any suggestions

I am trying to install iphoto 09 on my new MacBook Air and the install button is grayed out.  Both for installation and custom install.  Is there a problem that I am not aware of?

    Check for receipts
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Cannot associate Apple ID with new MacBook AIr

I just purchased a new MacBook Air and have all of the latest updates done to it.  I try to associate my Apple ID to the computer and get an error message saying I have reached my limit of Authorized computers 5 out of 5.  I went into my account and clicked on Manage Devices, but I only see 1 MacBook listed as a device (a previous computer of mine), the others are iPads & iPhones, which totaled more than 5 to begin with.  I tried deleting/unauthorizing a few of these devices and tried registering my account again on the MacBook Air, but am still getting the error message.
Is there any other place that I can unauthorized computers on my account? I am thinking I may have an old PC or Mac associated with my iTunes account (that I no longer have access to and has since been recycled).
I only see that one Mac on my account under devices, so according to that, I should have the ability to add 4 other computers, unless I'm missing something.

    Hi jmcaninch,
I apologize, I feel there may be a bit of confusion regarding authorizing a computer vs. associating a computer/device, which are two similar but seperate processes. All Associated computers/devices are also Authorized, but not necessarily vice versa. There are different limitations on each, and the Manage Devices screen will only show Associated computers/devices, not Authorized computers. For more information and clarification, you may find the following articles helpful:
Authorize your computer in iTunes - Apple Support
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID - Apple Support
In particular for your specific issue, you may find this portion from the first article helpful:
What happens if I run out of authorizations?
If one of your 5 authorizations is on a computer you don't use much anymore, deauthorize it. If you've sold or given away a computer that used one of your 5 authorizations, you'll need to deauthorize all of your computers and then re-authorize each one you still use.
How do I know how many computers I've authorized?
If you've authorized more than 2 computers, you can see how many are authorized.
Open your account in iTunesand sign in with your Apple ID. (Or, open iTunes, click Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.) In the Apple ID Summary section, you’ll see the number of computers that you’ve authorized with your Apple ID. You can’t see the names of those computers.
Do I need to authorize my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch?
No. You don’t need to authorize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but you do need toassociate your iOS devices with your Apple ID. Your iOS devices don’t use your available authorizations.

  • Tiny font on Menu Bar & on window when using Apple Mail on new Macbook Air

I have a new MacBook Air and all is good - except my Mail window has tiny fonts, including on the tool bar, and the Menu Bar is also has smaller fonts when Mail is active. I have made the actual messages readable but the rest of the screen is almost too small to read.

I just got my new MacBook Air and I was also really, really disappointed that the menu bar fonts - and all default text sizes in general - are much too small. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the optimal resolution for the monitor is now 1440x900 instead of 1280x800 as it was in the older MacBook Air models. I guess I just have to go to the optician and get myself a pair of glasses...
But I think this is clearly a design -related problem that Apple should fix asap!

  • Is it possible to sync hotmail between ipad, iphone and macbook air. My iphone and ipad are synced OK but cannot sync up with my (new) macbook air - neither maill nor contacts.

I have had ipad and iphone for a while and my mail, contacts and calendar are all synced up so that when I add or delete an item on one device it mirrors that on the other. Have recently purchased a macbook air but cannot get my hotmail to sync up - so I have to manage that separately from the ipad. Help!

  • Cannot open Aperture on my new Macbook Air

    Hello,
I have had Aperture 3.1 on my iMac, and solely purchased the Macbook Air to use for my photography and Aperture while on the road... just got the MBA today, did the whole Migration Assistant thing, and have Aperture on the Air, but when I try to open it, it asks for the serial number, I type it in, but then it throws up an Alert saying
"The serial number you entered is not valid."
I triple checked the serial number to make sure I typed it in correctly, and had done so, even double checked the serial number (I was getting it from clicking on the 'About Aperture' in Aperture) with the online order purchase receipt, and is the same number I have typed in, but am getting this alert.
I checked the forums here and found that I can have Aperture on both my iMac and my Macbook Air (well, the post I found was for a Macbook Pro, but same thing), with the whole single license user thing, so why am I getting the Alert message? Is there some permissions somewhere that I have to do something with so that I can have it on both my computers? I purchased and downloaded it online directly from Apple.
Thank you very much for your time and whatever help you may provide.
    All the best to you,
    JPH

Hello, CorkyO2 & Tim, thank you both for your replies.
Corky - Yeah, I had found and seen those two posts... the first, couldn't help because I never had a hard copy disc of the application, but downloaded it straight from Apple... the second I disregarded, because this copy of Aperture is my first and never had any previous versions that I upgraded from... though I may try that 2nd link solution anyway just to see if it may work - after I can get Aperture to even do what it was when I originally posted:
Thinking that it may just be a Migration Assistant thing, I thought I would just start all over from scratch, and erased and formatted the Air HD, and reinstall the Air with that little USB thing, and then from my iMac copy the Aperture program onto my thumb drive and load it onto the Air that way. Well, that just made things worse, because just like -
Tim - said, the Aperture App and all it's contents are not all of it, and there are all these related Aperture folders and files interspersed all around the rest of the bloody system, that need to be present for it to work. So, right now, unlike it did before, Aperture won't even attempt to open to that register screen I was getting before, but is just throwing up an error report that it wants to send to Apple. In that report it reads that it couldn't find some Frameworks folder, and I located that on my iMac and copied it to my thumb drive too and placed it where it belongs in the Air, but still same thing.
And again - I can't just simply use the physical media to re-install as I never had it and downloaded it from Apple directly... I think I will never do that again, to just eliminate these types of freakin' annoying situations!
So, I am going to clear yet again my Air and start from scratch and Migrate like I did initially to just get apparently every hidden flippin' thing that needs to be on the drive for it to work like it did before, and try that 2nd link suggestion from Corky, and if that fails then finally relent and call Apple Care!
This is my fourth Mac, and remember how much of a pain these migrations are, I sure wish they were a lot easier, and more able to be customized, like for example being able to pick and choose which Apps to migrate over, which folders, which files, instead of it just sending over every single bloody one whether I need and/or want it or not! I just want my Air to be Aperture, Photoshop, and my iTunes music, RapidWeaver, Fetch, and Text Wrangler, then Mail and Safari - and that is pretty much it, the Air is just going to be a working computer for my photography to get some stuff done on the road until i can get home and do the bulk on the iMac... I don't want or need anything else on it, so would be nice if I could just tailor the migration to just what it is I need, and all folders and files related to those things, and that's it, and not just do this bulk, mass migration of every single cotton-pickin' thing! I know you can do that to some limit, but again, all these stupid tie-in folders and files that may go with things, would be nice if the system would recognize and find and migrate those related files from within the system and leave the rest, as it is you either have to bring everything plus the kitchen sink, or not at all.
Okay, am done ranting in frustration!
Thanks again for your help guys... will get back to it when I have time, which is sparse... willl update here when I find a solution that works.
    All the best to you,
    JPH

  • Cannot use Facebook since buying new iPad air

CCannot use Facebook since buying new iPad air

Although I am not a Facebook fan, and don't normally use the iWeb FTP, I decided to test this.
I upload a site and the notification duly appeared on FB.
In case this was a fluke, I made some changes and uploaded these..
Then I quit and relaunched iWeb, made another change and uploaded.
Then I had to login and delete three "posts" from Facebook.
    So, what's the problem?
Note that I have NOT installed Lion and am still running 0S X 10.6.8  Perhaps this is a Lion issue?
I've seen other posts about this problem but don't remember which OS was involved. There were problems a couple of years ago but these were rectified by an update.
Given this, and the fact that FB codes are now incompatible with the HTML Snippet, if I was a facebooker, I would be looking for another app to create my websites.

  • Lightroom 5.6 hangs after using for few minutes. MacBook pro, Mac os 10.9.5. Colour wheel (beach ball) appears continuously and machine is frozen.

I have been using Lightroom successfully on my MacBook pro for the past few weeks and been pleased how much better it is compared to iPhoto. Especially its speed.
This week a few minutes after starting Lightroom the spinning colour wheel appears and the machine is effectively hung. Nothing responds. Sometimes after many minutes the mouse pointer reappers but the colour wheel immediately reappears if the mouse is moved or any attempt is made to do anything. Only recourse is to force a power down and re-boot. But then the same thing happens.
System is MacBook Pro (15") from late 2008, 2.4 GHz Intel core 2 Duo with 2 GB RAM (Have tried 3 GB but this makes no difference.) Running Mac os 10.9.5 (Mavericks)
I have checked file permissions and file system with Disk Utility, it found no problems. Have optimised Lightrooms catalogue. All made no difference.
I completely stuck now so any help appreciated,
    John

    Hi a,
It looks like you have a 15" mid 2010. You can try the SMC reset. If that doesn't work, see the free repair program for similar issues:

  • Can I partition a new macbook air hd to run lion and snow leopard?

I have a new 2011 Macbook Air and it came with Lion. I still have some mission critical programs that are not yet compatable with Lion. Can I partition the HD (I have 256GB) and dual boot with Snow Leopard? I have the Snow Leopard upgrade disk from another Mac. Will Snow Leopard work on this machine?

No. The new MBAs require Lion and will not run Snow Leopard.

  • My new Ipad Air was just stolen. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have enabled Find my Iphone and it is offline.

I was in Toys R Us getting my daughter a late Christmas gift tonight and while I was in the store someone broke in my car andd stole my new Ipad Air. I have Find My Iphone downloaded, but it cant be located. It says that it is offline. I am so upset. I just purchased this about a month ago. The police came out and took fingerprints but I am just wondering if there is anything else I can do. Please help!

I did that as soon as I realized it was stolen. I just feel like I should be doing something more than sitting around waiting for the police.

  • My new macbook air says I need to sign in with another id to download app store updates

I have a new MacBook Air.  I have two pending updates from the app store (garage band and iphoto) that it will not let me update because it says I am not signed in under the correct account.  I am signed into my itunes account so I don't know what I am doing wrong.  Can someone help me please?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Did you purchase a second-hand Mac? If so, this is the answer. You need to purchase Mountain Lion by reinstalling the original Mac OS X version that came with your MacBook.
If you didn't purchase a second-hand Mac and you have a Mid 2012 or Mid 2013 MacBook Air, make sure you started up in Recovery HD and that you are using the Apple ID you used to set up your MacBook Air. Another option is to use Internet Recovery (hold Command, Option and R keys while your Mac is starting), because some users said it doesn't require any Apple ID.
If this doesn't work, contact with the Mac App Store support > http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact
