I cannot use this product at this time; uninstall, reinstall, destroy computer.

Hello every one here. I am new here. I am not new to Acrobat but am new to issues with Acrobat.
I am running Acrobat 9, which is the last version I have.
Last week, for the first time, I started receiving an error when I wanted to use Acrobat instead of the reader, because I could convert using ABBYY and copy and paste.  However, after ABBYY disappeared somehow, I actually purchased ABBYY and installed it into the program file.  On Adobe 8, it worked fine.  But I no longer know where the install disk for Adobe 8 is, and this is a different machine.
So, after jumping through every single hoop on the error page, all the way to uninstalling and then reinstalling the program - I still receive this error.  Can someone who has encountered this or a similar error and successfully resolved it please help me out?
My sincere gratitude,
Evie

I get the feeling that you don't think I tried all of this before posting.  Anyway, here's what I did, and the results:
Thank you for sending.  After completing the steps in No. 1 and No. 2 (again) - and rebooting the puter, I still get the same message.  After completing No. 3 - I was asked if I also wanted to rename the data file contained within (I said no).  Then I moved on to Solution No. 4 (after having done all of this previously many times).  You don't need to go through Start -> Control Panel-> ... you can just type services into the box, works great.  Having unchecked "Use File Sharing Wizard" previously, it remained unchecked so I didn't bother it.
In No. 5, you should probably tell people that after unchecking Read Only, they'll get a pop up asking if they want that to be a universal setting for all subfolders, etc.  I clicked Yes - again.
Here's where things get dicey..  Because after clicking "Permissions" - presumably in the same FlexNet properties window, the instructions say "Click Apply and click Permissions tab. Click Edit, and then accept the UAC elevation prompt if it appears.  Select the Replace Permission Entries On All Child Objects With Entries Shown Here That Apply To Child Objects option.  Click OK, and then click Yes."
But, as you can see - there is no such animal  in the "Permissions" tab. (see image)  No "Edit" button or place to "Click"
So that's as far as I've gotten.  As you can see, Step No. 16 is as far as I've been able to get.  Right now, I'm downloading a 300+ MB adobe update.  Maybe there's a bug fix that deals with this?  Resetting permissions on the PCD file seems premature since I cannot get past Step 16 of of Solution No. 4 for Win 7.
I did jump ahead but there is no jounaling cache file.  Just cache.  I've also done the copy and paste from the virtual store into the program file - or vice versa. So far, nothing has fixed the problem.
Also, there is no "caps" file.  And, the system refused to allow me to delete any of the files in the virtual store.
The software referenced for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE isn't in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.  It's in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder.  That's probably good to know anyway.  But the Registry won't let you delete anything either.  It's like, it *knows*.  Like HAL in 2001.
Here's where I admit that when it comes to tech stuff, I'm a total doofus, what is CS3 and CS4?  I have no idea.  Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work anyway because nothing was allowed to be deleted.  This is a major cluster and I'm going to have to find a workaround to make the text into OCR so I can get what I need without spending the rest of the day on it.
If you can find where stuff is, and how to do it, I really appreciate it.  I guess Win 7 has changed some since you last worked with it.  I remain optimistic.
I thought it might help if you could see how Win7 uses the virtual store because it isn't as easy as it sounds.  There is no "Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Classes > VirtualStore > MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Adobe" - it's more like this:
Once you get to "SOFTWARE" you still have to look for Adobe (it's in the Wow6432Node Folder):
The final insult - once you've actually found Adobe - you can't delete it.
Oops!  I just assumed Adobe would be just one folder.  Not quite.
Looks like you still have to figure what to do when you do finally find "Adobe"
Maybe it's time to find a new fix.  Because I found these identical instructions all over the place.  They don't work   Thanks though, maybe this 300+ MB file will work.

trying to launch photoshop cs3 on a mac running OS10.6.8 i keep getting the error message: Licensing for this product has stopped working  you cannot use this product at this time. I already Uninstalled and reinstalled the product and it still does not work.

    Hi,
Try to uninstall the software again and you have to manually
    Delete the following folders:
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/backup
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/FLEXnet Publisher/
Go to Applications-->Utilities-->Disk Utility, Open it and Select the MAC HD and then click on Repair permissions.
After that try to run the cleaner tool as mentioned by kglad.
Restart machine and then try to install again.
*** Make sure , you only delete these folders if there is no other adobe applications installed on the machine. As if you have any other Adobe application of the suite ( not free applications ) then it will be a problem.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Error 148:3 You cannot use this product at this time

Am running XP Pro SP3 with Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended.  Until I installed Comodo antivirus software yesterday, Acrobat worked fine.  Now when I open Acrobat I get an error message similar to this:  “You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair this problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contact your IT . . .  (148:3).”  Then when I click OK, Acrobat shuts down.
I’ve tried the Licensing fixes found at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html but fixes didn’t work.  I uninstalled and reinstalled.  Now when I try to install updates, it looks like it’s installing but at the end the installation says it failed.
Any ideas on how to resolve my problem?   Thank-you.

Bill, you're correct and thanks for your help.  In my particular case, Acrobat Pro was working fine until I upgraded Comodo (from the green/white shield to the red shield).  Thnking it was an Acrobat problem, I uninstalled Acrobat Pro and reinstalled Acrobat Pro with Comodo turned off.  Still got the "148:3" error msg.  Solution, I uninstalled Comodo and restarted the computer.  Then updated Acrobat Pro, there were two updates.  Restarted computer.  Then installed Comodo.  Everything now works fine.

  • Error on ALL CS3 Products: "You cannot use this product at this time..."

    Hello all,
I woke up this morning and attempted to launch Adobe Photoshop CS3. I received the following error:
"You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling..."
At the same time I tried opening Photoshop, my Antivirus application (ESET NOD 32 Antivirus) indicated that it found a "threat" named AdobeLM_libFNP.dll.
I then tried opening DreamWeaver CS3. Same issue. Also got another threat notification from ESET NOD 32.
Non CS3 products (Photoshop CS2, Illustrator 10) do not appear to be affected.
I've already referred to the TechNote for this issue. I've tried all of the solutions, except for uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528&sliceId=1
I really don't have the time today to uninstall and reinstall all of my Adobe apps. I'm hoping there is another solution.
I'm running a complete system/virus scan right now and its coming up with threats left and right... all of them are Adobe-related w/file names like "AdobeDeviceCentralAll1.cab"
    Can anyone help?

    >At the same time I tried opening Photoshop, my Antivirus application (ESET NOD 32 Antivirus) indicated that it found a "threat" named AdobeLM_libFNP.dll.
if you're SURE that's a virus, you'll have to reinstall the full app. my guess is you AV app is a little too aggressive in it's scanning and it stopping the adobe license manager (AdobeLM) from running so you can't run your apps.
having heard of adobe, but never heard of est nod, i'd trust adobe 1st... try another virus scanner. for example avg (free or paid) or kaspersky, panda, mcaffe, symantec, etc.
hmm googling i found a pcweek review. they say it's great at catching "unknown" viruses (proactive protection) but "less than stellar" at stopping and disenfecting lots of other malware. so it may be thinking because of the behaviour of the ALM, nod32 thinks it's caught an unknown virus.
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,130906/article.html
    >When it comes to proactive protection, Eset's NOD32 was the hands-down winner in "Virus Stoppers," our eight-program antivirus roundup. In our tests, it caught 79 percent of unknown malware samples when using one-month-old signature files. The next-closest program, BitDefender Antivirus 10, came in with a distant 61 percent
    >NOD32's overall malware detection rate wasn't stellar, however. When pitted against AV-Test.org's nearly 900,000-strong "zoo" of Trojans, viruses, and other malware, NOD32 caught only 90 percent, compared to the 96 percent rate of top performers Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6, Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2007, and BitDefender Antivirus 10. It fared surprisingly poorly with 32-bit Windows viruses (approximately 1 in 11 samples in the zoo), catching only 73 percent.

This forum is none of those things.  That being said, we may be able to help.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the product?  If not, please consider following these instructions:

Thank you!  My solution was different.  I had turned off services in MSCONFIG and did not turn them back on.  After I turned services back on, Acrobat started  working again without the nag error and impedance to use the program.  I appreciate your input!  Adobe customer service/tech support was dismally disappointing.

  • "You can not use this product at this time. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the product..."

    Hello,
I am a U.S. citizen who works over the internet at home for a man in the U.K. My boss in the U.K. ordered CS3 from the U.K. and shipped it to the U.S.
For almost a year, I was able to use the CS3 products until all the sudden, I get an error message that says, "You cannot use this product at this time. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the product or contact Adobe for technical support." Every time I try and talk to a customer service representative from Adobe, I am either put on hold for about 30 minutes, am asked to contact the offices in the U.K since the product was purchased in the U.K. or am told I can't get any support because I don't have an order number or a serial number or whatever these people are asking for. I do not have that kind of money to be making long distance phone calls to the U.K. only to receive no technical support at all. My job is very important and if my boss paid over $1,000 for the product then either he or I should get the support we need before I end up loosing my job over it. I was once promised a very new clean CS3 CD along with a new serial key for all the trouble I went through with technical support and never received it in the mail. I can give you my boss' contact info, but I refuse to quit until I get the support I am looking for. My boss' number is
[personal contact info deleted by forum host]
and he might be able to supply the order number.
                                                   Sincerely,
                                                          Michael S. Lowe

How do I do that? I'm the only user on the laptop - I kind of assumed I already was running the install as the admin.

  • In app purchase error message "it doesn't look like you've purchased this product with this account"

I have one itunes account and I made an in app purchase to unlock a full game. The charges appear on my account but the game tells me "it doesn't look like you've purchased this product with this account", although it acknowledges that I already paid to unlock a full version. I tried redownloading the game, I tried syncing with itunes. I am not sure where to start next. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Sorry, maybe I didn't express myself well.
I have the same Apple ID in the 3 devices, iPad mini, iPhone 4s and iPhone 5s. In the 2 first the app camera+ is installed, but it is the unique app that doesn't show up in my purchased items in the iPhone 5s. If I want it I have to buy again. I really didn't understand what happened that I can't install it free again.
    Thank you.

  • Purchased Teacher and Student edition, but with the trial expired, I cannot use any products?

I bought the Teacher and Student edition (one year plan, prepaid), but after the trial expired, I cannot use any products. It asks for a serial number, which to the best of my knowledge, I never received. Is there something I missed?
    Thanks in advance.

Trimatirate you will need to locate the serial number you received with your license to use the software for a year.  If it is registered then it will be available under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find additional details at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

  • I work with a website where I need to open a flash window to examine the changes that I have made. I cannot use my mouse inside this flash window. Help?

I work on a website where I open a flash window to see how the changes I have made look. When I open the flash window, my mouse no longer works properly - I cannot click into the window - and scroll down to look at it. It also seems to "lock" up the page as I cannot click anywhere sometimes on this page (original or the flash window.) If I click on a different page completely and then go back, it seems to reset (actually sort of blinks) and then I can close the flash window. When I use the touchpad on my laptop, it works fine. When I use internet explorer, it works.

What kind of menu opens if you right click in the Flash area?<br />
Is that the Flash player menu?
