I cannot use yahoo or google search engines. i have used several different antispyware,malware and virus scans but have found nothing. any thoughts?

ask.com works fine but i cannot use any search engines related to google, yahoo and several other sites that use those engines on there page. several pages hostred by google also do not work. i have tried several scans to find issues but nothing. i have updated firefox and i have also tried to reinstall firefox twice.
i have also had several issues streaming video or music which wasnt an issue until i started having the google issues

Each time I open Firefox, I get blocks or tiles of numbers for each character instead of text. The tiles appear as composites of four digits, stacked two by two. At some websites, normal text does appear in boxes but mostly as this numeric gibberish. The functionality of the Firefox software does not seem to have been affected. Try to set the pref gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.use_gdi_table_loading to false on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

Open Firefox -> Go to View -> Toolbars -> Chechmark on "Navigation Toolbar"

I click on the add tab button and the yahoo search engine comes up as the home page. This should be the google search engine, as it is when I first open Firefox.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank). 
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

How to interact with google search engine using java HTTP POST

I am trying to develop an desktop app that acts as an online radio tuner. I want to use google as an index site for actually searching for radio stations online. So I was wandering if it is possible for me to use java to actually interface with the google search engine servers. For example, I have built a gui that allows you to enter search text. This gui will connect to the web. I would like it to connect to the Google site and post the query to the google web servers. Then i would like to began to parse the response( html page) that i get back from the google servers. Like using google without actually typing in the text field on the google site. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to do this with java. If so, what would be the best way to go about doing this. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. It was actually alot easier to do than I anticipated. All I had to do was create a URL object initialized with the google url(search text embedded in the url - http://www.google.com/search?q=" + searchText + "&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF8).

Certain websites i.e.google, yahoo, or other search engines are not found in my server. Why? They were last week. I can only access different countries' google search engines. Error 404 comes up repeatedly. Can anyone explain how to fix this?

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. 
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.

I'm using an iMac with Firefox as my browser. On the top right beside the URL box I have my google search engine (I can also use the drop down to search with Yahoo, Amazon, Answers.com etc.... When I search for something I get results but for some reason now I get Islamic text in my results. For instance if I search iphone here's what I get as my first result:

It is incompatibility of FF4 and bullguard (they know about it, and fix will be released soon), and probably most of the other antiviruses, as I see this is very popular problem. The solution though is very simple : in firefox disable addon "Bullguard Safe Browsing". It works. Or alternatively open bullguard go : antivirus - settings - safe browsing (unchek that). For those not using bullguard i would recommend to check their addons in FF and if there is any from your antivirus try to disable it for now.

Why does firefox 4 freeze on the 1st result page of google search engine

I updated to Firefox 4 yesterday and now every time I use the google search engine my screen freezes on the first results page and will not allow me to click on any of the links on it, saying that it is not responding before eventually the screen goes white.
I tried to find a solution on the Firefox Support page but the only solution relates to McAfee Site Advisor. As I do not have this installed and never have I was wondering if it would be possible for you to tell me how do I fix it?

Google search engine no longer works after upgrading to Firefox 11

I just upgraded to Firefox 11 earlier this evening. Now I'm trying to do a search with Google. I got the search results and clicked on what I wanted only to get taken to the Google home page with a new Google search engine entry box. There was a google sign-in thing but I shouldn't have to sign in just to do a search. I switched to yahoo search and got the info I wanted then switched back to google to try to figure out what on earth is going on. Now when I click on the item in the results that I want the tab at the top sort of blinks for an instant that says connecting then stops and stays on the results page. If I right-click on the item and select open in a new tab (or new page), I can go to that page, but I shouldn't have to always right click to go to a new tab or new page. It was never that way before I got to Firefox 11. Can this be fixed or do I have to just abandon google?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache

2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Also, I think the Ask toolbar (add-on) has been reported to create problems with the links in Google search results. You could try disabling it here:

Good Answer, but wrong answer for me. I work with multiple tabs and like having the search window stay up there so I can re-use it. I understand that many prefer the unibar, I would prefer to have it optional. Let me drag a frickin' search engine into the tool bar.

Possibly because dropbox is not really a proper webhost - it might be better if you went and signed up for proper web hosting from somewhere like http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com.
Have you told Google that you site exists? If not, then you need to do so - http://www.google.com/addurl.

I have installed bearshare and now when I open firefox, my homepage disappears and the my google search engine is now bearshare which I don't want.
