I cannot view a live web cam on my IPad2

I have Safari. Why can't I view live web cams?

No real idea since you post no details about the webcams. Perhaps they're streaming in a format not supported by the iPad. If you can post the URL to one or more of these webcams, we can check them out and then perhaps offer suggestions.

Help!! - Live Web Cam Chat in a Captivate E-Learning Session

I really hope someone can help me with this one. I am doing an elearning session in Adobe Captivate which needs to contain a live web cam chat. I was thinking about creating a flash video to record the live web cam chat but have no idea how to do it. Unfortunately this is one skill that I haven't had the opportunity to learn and have never had to do this before. Its very new and sophisicated for me!!!!

Okay. Gotcha!
For starters, you won't want to use Captivate to capture the Web Chat. I recently tried some full motion using Captivate 4 and it's seldom going to give you anything remotely close to what you want. So you will need to investigate some other software to capture the Web Cam stuff.
Perhaps investigate another Adobe product called Visual Communicator.
Once you get something that is able to capture the Web Cam, it needs to spit back out a file in FLV or SWF output. You would then drop the FLV into Captivate. (Or present it in a frame on a web page).
Hopefully this helps a smidge.

Live Web Cam?

Is there a way to put a live web-cam feed into a iWeb Template?
What do I need to do this if its possible?
Any certain type of WebCam needed to accomplish this?

I uploaded a plugin (can't remember which one) and now cannot view any of my RAW images through Bridge.
I have tried installing updated Camera RAW plug-ins - v8.6 = not usable as it is for WIN7 only, v 8.2 & v8.4 = doesn't work
Which plugin must i upload and where do I find one to download?

Cannot view BBC live streaming since late last week

I could view BBC live video streaming until Friday of last week and it is not working again today

There must be a problem or conflict with another program on this machine because I ran the update on another machine configured similarly and it plays streamed material just fine. I'm going to download just QuickTime and install it.

Baby monitor/live web cam

We have four iSight camera enabled Macs in our house, an Airport network, fast cable Internet, and a hosting plan with iPower as well as MobileMe. I would like to set up a Mac in the kid's room so that I can monitor him from other parts of the house/workshop when he's sleeping and also so that my wife can look in on "us" from time to time from her office in town. It seems like this should be an easy thing to do considering all the tools we have available. I just don't have a clue as to how to do it. I read the info on EvoCam's website, but I was hoping that I was already paying for something like that with what I have.

It could be done with iChat.
On the Home Network the computer in the Child's room would need iChat to be set up with the Bonjour account Activated (iChat > Preferences > Accounts).
Then in the iChat > Preferences > Alerts you would set the top item to Video Invite and then lower down the AppleScript option and then select Auto Answer in the Drop down list.
In iChat the Bonjour Accounts takes the Mac User that is logged in Address Book > My Card detail as the Buddy Name and broadcasts this to the other Macs.
You would need your Mac to have iChat's Bonjour Account enabled.
This does mean that each Mac needs to have a different User Logged in.
MobileMe Account names are valid AIM screen names as well
You may need to shorten the password to 16 characters as a MAx as this is the AIM server end Limit.
Family sub account names will not work. So you may have to register for either an AIM name or an @mac.com name.
Your wife would not be able to Call-In if you were already using Bonjour.
However with 3 Valid AIM names she could Text you and then you could Invite her to a 3 way Video Chat (Join an existing Video chat)
This would require that you had at least 500kbps as Upload as well as download to support the two stream of Video from home and Host it.
( A 1-1 Video chat can be managed with as little as 128kbps Upload. For a 3 and 4 way Video Chat Apple says the min is 384kbps to be the Host but you also have to allow for the fact there will be two Video streams from your end)
Evocam
Evocam gets the Video feed from the camera and snapshots it as jpegs.
These jpegs are then sent to a web page.
If that page is local to you (on your computer or on a another home computer) this posting and refreshing the page can make for a stuttering look "live" video feed.
You may also have issue as to whether your ISP allows you to Host a Web Server. It is not always allowed.
You would also have to make changes to your Router set up to process Requests for the page to that computer that Hosts it.
If the page is on an External Server then the time taken to FTP the file up to the server adds more jerkiness.
I have version 3.5 which is not the latest but I don't read of any changes on that front on their site.
However it does provide the option of allowing more people to access it.

Koowy is a Web Site that is free.
You go to that Link and enter a "room" Name.
This then creates a page (URL for you) that "Contains" the room.
Flash has to be Enabled on the Browser that is involved.
Once you are in the Room a Flash Pop appears asking you to Allow access to the camera.
(In some cases you may need to choose the camera type in the Tab for Cameras)
Once another computer or person has the URL of the room that can enter it and set up/Allow their Camera or just view the Stream.
Audio can be Muted.

Cannot View PDF in Web Browser error

Using windows XP sp3 has adobe reader 9 on it...
Installing Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro extended was trouble prone enough, but now there is more...
When trying to open a PDF in a browser window, you get the following dialog error message (sample site:http://support.apple.com/manuals/#iphone)
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.
Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again."
For the cost of this program, I expected better. The above was not a problem before installing Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro extended.

I did a google search and found a fix that was a bunch of registry entries that worked for me:

It is just anoying to spend this kind of money on a piece of software and have so many problems out of the box.

Adobe reader. Cannot view or download web .pdfs: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Safari 5.1.5

I have followed the help intructions: Adobe Reader preferences>Internet> Web Browser Options. But the 'Display PDF in browser usng' box is not highlighted (i.e. it is selected but cannot be used).
This has happened since I downloaded the latest Reader update to 10.1.3

although it didn't quite work in the same manner for me (the 32 bit mode was unchecked, so I checked and unchecked it again).
What is also new is that the .pdf cannot be saved through Safari but can by the .pdf save icon.

Hi David,
Please note that if you are using OS X 10.6.x, then you'll need to run Safari in 64Bit mode. You can do the same by
1. Go to Applications, Command+Click on Safari to open the Context menu.
2. Now click on Get Info
3. From the new window that appears, Uncheck "Open in 32-bit mode".
This is because on OS X 10.6.8, Safari 5.1 in 32-bit mode is not supported. Refer to release notes for more details about systems requirements changes.

Please let us know your OS version and whether this issue happens with all PDF files or with any specific file?
Also try to "Reload" the PDF in safari when grey window appears by pressing "Command + R"?

Cannot view Apple's web pages

Hi,
I'm interested in the new Mac Pro. Went to view information about it, and ended up at this page: http://www.apple.com/macpro/
Safari displays that page as black with dark and light grey text -- the contrast being so poor it's totally unreadable.
How do I override this in Safari?

yeow! That makes the page look really bad! But at least it's readable.
Yes, I completely agree. That's why I proposed it as a short term workaround.
yes, some of the large text is white. Then the text below that is a light gray. Then the smaller text is a dark gray. The bigger gray is difficult to read, the smaller is impossible.
For what it's worth, all of the text on the page is readable to me. I'm not at all discounting your observations - just saying that mine are quite different. And our differing perceptions of the page are exactly the reason that kind of design is a bad idea - another conclusion you and I completely agree on.
But enough about that. Moving on...
Isn't there some way to just stop Safari from showing the background and override the text color???? Can this be done in Firefox?
I don't know if there's anything in Firefox that would help. Others here might know and, if so, will hopefully chime in.
One possibility is to specify a stylesheet in Safari's preferences that tells Safari to make paragraph backgrounds white and text black, or vice versa.
I made a quick-and-dirty stylesheet that seems to serve the purpose. You can download it here. (Control-click on the link and choose the option to "Save linked file..."
To use it, store it somewhere on your hard drive and then specify it in Safari's preferences, in the Advanced section, where it says "Style Sheet." Choose "Other..." from the drop-down menu and navigate to the white_black.css file that you downloaded. Quit and relaunch Safari to see the effects. It's working for me here.
This stylesheet will almost certainly cause problems on other web sites, so make sure to switch to "None Selected" in that preferences setting when you're not using it for pages like the Mac Pro page.

Cannot view edits made in Camera Raw

I am a new user of CS5. I shoot in RAW and upload my photos and I do some edits in Camera Raw (crop, brightness, exposure, etc.). When I click Done in Camera Raw and return to Bridge, I can no longer see the edits on my files. My files are marked with the symbols to show that edits have been made to the file, but the edits are not visible unless I go back and reopen the file in Camera Raw.

Camera Raw Version 6.3.0.79

I finally found another area to check, thanks to your reply. I found the box to change the options for thumbnail quality and changed it to "Generate 100% Previews" and this seems to do the trick. I had been going through the Edit dropdowns over & over and thought I should/would find something there but never could find it. Looks like it was "hiding" elsewhere! Thanks!!

Javascript comes by default as part of Firefox. It is likely that the site with the webcam is not set to detect Firefox correctly. We cannot fix the site, contact the site owner and alert them to this problem. This assumes that it is a image based web cam and not an Adobe Flash based webcam.

What Web Cam is compatible with the Mac mini

Thinking of buying a Mac mini to use with my Sony TV but I want to connect a web cam also. Does anyone know what web cam works with a Mac mini? Keen to get one but if I cannot find a compatible web cam I don't think I will. I have no wish to buy the apple monitor just for the use of a web cam.

Web Cam NB205 325BN

I installed both Skype and Windows Live Messenger. I ran the audio and video tests on both and the audio was fine on both programs. Theproblem is the Video. All I have is a Blue Screen with bubbles on it. When I clicked on the video test the small blue light did wotk but no video.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you somehow have activated the web camera Effects - Screen Cover image option. Open the Toshiba Web Camera Application, then select Effect, then select the Screen Cover tab, and then select the Off option, and then click OK to save the setting change. Once done, The blue bubble image that is shown in the live web cam video window should go away and you should now have live web cam video. If you get a picture frame around the live video then check the Picture Frame tab and ensure it's set to Off.

Viewing web camera on safari or firefox

I recently purchased a mbp... Trying to get to grips with moving from pc to mac, and doing ok for the most part, except one little thing:
On my pc, i was able to see on IE8 my web camera (a level one camera) located at my home (spying on the baby sitter!). I cannot get it to work now on safari nor firefox (because i did read around and people were saying that firefox might be able to view the file)
I get an ActiveX warning and a still image instead of a live feed shows up on my screen. When i refresh the page, the clock has moved to the current time, but again only a still image shows. I run flip4mac but nothing. Anyone any ideas?

From the research that I have done, I didn’t find any solution to this issue.
Most of the surveillance cameras and consoles need ActiveX control in order to work. Furthermore, some special line and more expensive cameras support java streaming that you can use in mac os.
Unfortunately you have to wait until Microsoft will permit the usage of ActiveX controls for any other operating system.
P.S. You can also install a virtual Os with xp in your laptop (probably it is the only thing that you can do)
