I cannot watch .mov files in regular quicktime. What can I use instead?

I'm attending at online master, So I need to watch .mov files. Quicktime reproducced the audio only. I tried with other mov file but happes the same.
I cannot whacht the film thought Safari not even from Firefox.
What else do I need to do, to watch them??

To watch Avaya Radvision Scopia .mov files you need
1) install QuickTime (I didn't try alternative players)
2) install plug-in from scopia.avaya.com - "Watch recording" tab bottom left corner.

you need to install some other stuff to get the full file functionality back.
Here's the list.
Start with QT 7.6.6. - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923
Get Perian, and install it. - http://perian.org
then VLC, - http://videolan.org
DivX - http://divx.com - and the
Flip4Mac package from Telestream - http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac/
A52/AC3 downloader: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21875/a52codec - In this installer package there is an audio A52Codec.component. DO NOT USE IT! Throw it out and use the one that is linked below.
This is what I've put into my system and so far I've gotten every file to run fine, even my oldest videos.
These are codecs you should see.
In System/Library/QuickTime
     AppleIntermediateCodec.component
     AppleMPEG2Codec.component* (*optional if you've bought it)
     DivX Decoder.component
     Flip4Mac WMV Advanced.component
     Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
     Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
In your Home/Library/QuickTime/
     AC3MovieImport.component (you may or may not want this component, in some instances it causes conflicts. In my system, it doesn't. Who knows why? I don't.)
     Perian.component
For AC3 sound that is in most .mkv files, you need the A52Codec.component, this is the one you want, here: https://code.google.com/p/subler/downloads/detail?name=A52Codec.component.zip - unzip the file and put the component into the System/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components
Go back to your Perian settings and in the Audio Output button, set it to 'Multi Channel Sound' - Ignore the message Perian puts up and select it.
By doing a 'Get Info' on your files and where it says 'Open With' - default them to the QuickTime 7 program. Perian no longer will work with QuickTime Player so you must have QT 7.6.6 and set it so it is the default for all the filetypes you use.
It works perfectly with QT7. So far I've gotten ALL my old videos to play.
.avi, .mov (with the AC3 sound), .wmv, .flv, .mp4 and .m4v. all run fine as do all the older formats.

If it's absolutely necessary to open these files you could use a trial version of PSE 12 for a while. But have a look at the restrictions at the end of the thread.

What can I use to transfer file over network besides using ssh?
This is only for experimental purposes. I have used ssh before, by using command like this:
(time cat /run/shm/test/input/totalInput.tar | ssh username@ip-server "cat > /dev/null") 2>>/run/shm/test/p3_UC_ctime_tar.txt
or this, if I tried to compress a file and then transfer:
(time bzip2 -kfc1 /run/shm/test/input/totalInput.tar | ssh username@ip-server "cat > /dev/null") 2>>/run/shm/test/p3_ctime_tar.txt
However, I think ssh is killing my transfer speed. I am getting only 10-20Mbps.. Router should support over 200-300Mbps.
What can I use besides ssh? I was thinking about netcat, but what I don't like is that I have to open port on the other side for each new file transfer.

Well, what I am conserned with things like scp and ssh (I tried scp too) is encryption.
I just moved one file over to a server with scp, and I got about 2.1MB/s... which is about 16.8 Mbps..
I am using Linksys E900, which is wireless-N router. Connection exist between two computers only, nothing else is using that router. However, there is another wireless point outside of our room, which is used for public University network. I don't know how much of effect it would have on our set up.
Both computers have plenty of disk space. One computer (actually development board) uses sd-card for its OS and other disk space.
About 200-300Mbps.. is just something I saw on router's specs.

What version of Premiere Pro? Have you installed the recent updates? What operating system?
Does this happen for all .mov files or just some? Has this ever worked before? What version of QuickTime do you have installed?

Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.

Quicktime Pro won't open an MPEG movie file with the Quicktime icon

What am I missing? Not getting? I have several MPEG movie files that proudly sport the Quicktime icon, but the Quicktime app tells me they're not movie files.
If Quicktime won't open them, is there conversion software I can use?

Didn't even consider it. I thought that because the file displayed the Quicktime icon and because I have Quicktime Pro, that Quicktime would play the file.
Unfortunately, this is a common misconception. However, now that you understand the problem, you can work on a solution. Basically, if by MPEG your are referring to common MPEG-2/MP2 content 'multiplexed" to an MPEG container, these can be played in the QT Player (or Front Row or iTunes) if you install the QT MPEG-2 Playback component ($19.99). However, be advised that this is a video only component, so it does not make "muxed" AC3 MPEG-2 files playback compatible with the QT player. Luckily, if you do decide to install this component, the free MPEG Streamclip application will allow you to play or convert such files to any QT compatible audio and video format for which you system is configured. Or, if all you want to do is play MPEG-2 video files without investing in the QT component, then you can view them with VLC but may have trouble converting them to a QT compatible format. HandBrake will also convert them without investing in the MPEG-2 component, but greatly limits your conversion possibilities. I personally would recommend buying the component as Neil recommended since it offers the greatest flexibility for playing without conversion, as well as, the most conversion options for all normal MPEP-2 Program and Transport Stream files you are likely to encounter using QT 7 Pro and/or MPEG Streamclip depending on the specific source content what you want to do with the final files.

all files must be in itunes for the appletv to have access to them (however, just because they are in itunes does not mean they are appletv compatible).

Many online media providers block this - Sky and Amazon Prime do too I believe.
I would have to assume that the app providers cannot offer video Airplay for contractual reasons with the movie studios though it may just be they don;t want to enable their apps to do so.
It's not Apple preventing this, while you could see it would be in Apple's interest to push people to the iTunes store for media it could also drive people away.

How to Import .MOV files in Adobe After Effects, I am Using Canon 700d for FilmShooting

I have Just brought a canon 700d and started Shooting HD Movies but now i want to add some effects in my video E.G. Twixtor effect for slow motion but I am facing a problem that i cannot import .MOV file in Adobe AE CS4. Please help me. Also If you can tell me any free converter for .MOV to AF file format.

CS4 is much older than Windows 8. CS4 is meant to work on XP or Vista. Getting it to run on Windows 7 was a bit of an issue, so I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that you have CS4 running on Windows 8 at all.
It's also possible that a new camera records in a codec that such an old version of AE doesn't understand.
Make sure you're running the latest update to your version of AE. You're on version 9, so make sure you've run the Adobe After Effects CS4 9.0.3 Update (I would not suggest updating in the middle of a project though, as any changes might break AE). I would like to reiterate: you're running a version that was released six years ago on an operating system that was released much more recently. So, be careful how you tread. However, if you're not running 9.0.3, you're missing some bug fix updates that might solve your problem.
I would suggest upgrading to a newer version of AE.
That being said, as Dave mentions, CS4 and earlier had lots of trouble with MPEG-4 and other codecs that used interframe compression. Can you open the files in your version of Premiere? If so, you can use Premiere or the Adobe Media Encoder to convert to a proper intermediate codec. MOV is just a container format. QuickTime with the PNG codec will work in After Effects CS4 with no problems as will the other codecs Dave mentions.
