I cant access my custom library. "error:Package X does not exist".

First of all, there is nothing wrong with my sourcecode. I've checked it and it runs fine when my client class and the rest of the classes is thrown into the same directory together.
Thing is, I have a lot of reusable code, which works, and I have to my best ability followed guidelines on the net how to put them into a liberary and use the import statement in the client to make use of that liberary. My client class still cant find the library, and yes it has the proper import statement. It just tells me that the package does not exist. I've tried to compress the library to a jarfile:
jar cf mittBibliotek.jar *
, and I've tried treating it as it is(a directory with java files, each one containing the proper package statement).
First I tried to setup my library using the Netbeans IDE 5.0.
(Right click the libraries node in the project iew->properties>-Libraries->Add Jar/Folder) Source code still cant find any of the classes contained in the jar file.
The netbeans interface can be a bit involved, so I switched to BlueJ just to see if my client class was able to find anything (Tools->preferences->Libraries->add).
I've tried multiple variations trying to explain to the the source code where the liberary is located. Should the files in the library be compiled before it can be used as a jar? Have I set up my classpath correctly? I'm using windows XP, and I've placed the classpath by going to system properties-advanced tab->envirornment variables and typing it under the system variables. Is
this wrong? Should it be someplace else? Haven't BlueJ or netbeans their own setup for classpaths? And why the need to type anything else in the classpath, when the dot in CLASSPATH=.;c:\Java;c:\suff;c:\andSoOn; actually means everything? Would it not be the same to just
write CLASSPATH=.;?
I seem to be getting off topic here, sorry about that. All I want is to be able to use my class library with my source code.
PS: I've used the terms "source code" and "client class" arbitrarely. They are both the same.

Have I set up my classpath
correctly? I'm using windows XP, and I've placed the
classpath by going to system properties-advanced
tab->envirornment variables and typing it under the
system variables.Is
this wrong? That can work, but changing the CLASSPATH environment variable every time you want to run a program isn't recommended. Instead, you should you use the -classpath option of the javac command to compile your programs. Here is the syntax
C:> javac -classpath C:\folder1;C:\folder2\subfolder1 MyClass.java
Tip: construct your command in a text editor, so if it doesn't work, you can modify it and then copy and paste it into your DOS window. That will save you from having to retype the whole command in the DOS window.
And
why the need to type anything else in the classpath,
when the dot in
CLASSPATH=.;c:\Java;c:\suff;c:\andSoOn; actually
means everything? Would it not be the same to just
write CLASSPATH=.;? No. The dot means to look in the current directory. Suppose you have a DOS window open and you change directories to an existing directory on your computer called C:\folder1\subfolder1:
something here>cd C:\folder1\subfolder1
C:\folder1\subfolder1>Now, let's say you want to compile the MyClass.java file and it's in subfolder1. Also, suppose MyClass.java imports a class in folder1. If you use this command to compile:
C:\folder1\subfolder1>
javac -classpath . MyClass.java
the current directory is C:\folder1\subfolder1 (note: I put the javac command on a different line for clarity). The -classpath is the dot, which instructs javac to look in the current directory for the classes referred to in the program MyClass.java. Since by assumption the class referred to by MyClass.java is not in subfolder1, the program won't compile. Also, the current directory does not include files in subdirectories of the current directory.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest barriers to learning java is learning how to compile and execute programs. I still have trouble, and I constantly revise the rules I follow to take into account some new thing I stumbled on. Here are the current rules I follow:
=================================
EXAMPLE DIRECTORY STRUCTURE:
D:\javaStuff\aFolder\TryPackage.java
TryPackage.java is in the aFolder package and references the Line and Point classes. Line.java and Point.java are in the Geometry package, and they reside in the Geometry folder like this:
C:\moreJava\Packages\Geometry\Line.java
====================================
COMPILING: Use cd to change the DOS prompt to the current directory of the FILE you are trying to compile. In the -classpath option, include the classpaths to packages of all CLASSES referenced in your program whether they are in an import statement or not. If the file you want to compile is in the current directory, the compiler can find your FILE--it uses "." for the default location. To compile TryPackage.java above use this command:
D:\javaStuff\aFolder>
javac -classpath C:\moreJava\Packages filename
where filename = TryPackage.java. If your FILE is not in the current directory, then you need to use the full path name of the FILE like this: filename = d:\javaStuff\aFolder\TryPackage.java
RUNNING: In -classpath, include all paths to all packages of the classes USED in the program, which includes the path to the package of the .class file you are trying to run. If the .class file you are trying to run is not in a named package, then it is part of the default package, and the -classpath for that package must be included. For the default package, the -classpath equals the path to the directory that contains the file. If TryPackage.java did not have a package statement, the -classpath to the default package would be D:\javaStuff\aFolder. In addition, you need tack on the package name to the beginning of the .class file you compiled. Here is how you would run the TryPackage program:
D:\javaStuff\aFolder>
java -classpath C:\moreJava\Packages;D:\javaStuff filename
where filename = aFolder.TryPackage. It does not matter if the .class file you are trying to run is in the current directory or not. The preceding command will work from any directory.
ADDITIONAL RULES: You don't necessarily have to specify the full path name to the file when you are at a prompt other than the directory which contains the file. Instead, you can just complete the path to the file from the current directory, i.e. the prompt. For instance, if this is the directory structure:
C:
----javaPrograms
-----------Pack1
-----------------DemoA.java
and you are at the prompt:
C:\javaPrograms>
You can compile DemoA.java with this command:
javac Pack1\DemoA.java
Note that if you add the prompt directory to the path specified for the file, you get:
C:\javaPrograms + Pack1\DemoA.java = C:\javaPrograms\Pack1\DemoA.java
which results in the full path name to the file. So, javac can use the prompt directory as the starting point for path to the file you are compiling.
The same thing works for the java command when you execute your program. Assume you are at the C:\ prompt:
C:\>
You can compile the program using:
javac javaPrograms\Pack1\DemoA.java
(Note: I've only completed the path to the file from the current directory). I can execute the program using:
java -classpath javaPrograms Pack1.DemoA
The java command completes the path to package. The prompt directory added to the -classpath is:
C:\ + javaPrograms = C:\javaPrograms
which is the full path to the parent directory of the package.

  • Error: package jxl does not exist

I've tried everything on this thread from 2007
how to import a jxl package?
and I still get the error: package jxl does not exist.
    I've:
1)added the the excelapi subdirectory that contains the jar file to the system class path, then I tried explicitly adding the jxl.jar file to the classpath (below)
    c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_02\bin\; c:\Program Files\Java\jexcelapi\jxl.jar;
2)I tried adding a copy of the jxl.jar file to the java\jdk1.7.0_02\bin\ subdirectory also.
Anyone have any other troubleshooting ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Neither of those is a very good idea.
You're also not telling how you're trying to compile the code.
If with javac, you should use the -cp switch to include the jxl library in the classpath.

  • Compilation error : package "coins" does not exist

    Hi
I am new to Jva, though not new to programming.
I want to run a program I downloaded from internet But I cant since I got the following error
SimpleMain.java20 package coins does not exist.
    import coins.HirRoot;
                  ^(it points class HirRoot)
My GUESS is that I have to tell the compiler that I have my HirRoot class file somewhere. But I don't know how.
    This is what I did:
    I am at directory:
downloads/COINS/coinsBKP/examples/ And I want to compile SimpleMain.java inside of it
I have my classes (.class files) at directory:
downloads/COINS/coinsBKP/classes/coins/and Its source files (.java files) at directory:
    donwloald/COINS/coinsBKP/src/coins/I input :
    javac -d ../classes/coins/ SimpleMain.javaAnd I got many many errors.
    What can I do?
    btw I have tried also
    javac -d ../classes/ SimpleMain.java
    javac -d ./classes/ SimpleMain.javaand didn't work
Please help me, Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your answer.
But I still could not compile it ...
    I did this...enriquez-guillermos-macbook:examples nacho$ javac -Xlint:unchecked -d ../classes/ -cp ../classes/ SimpleMain.java

enriquez-guillermos-macbook:examples nacho$ As you suggested, I checked setOptionalParam() method. and it wasn't in Subp.java but it was found it in SubpImpl, java.
So How can I do this?
In C something like this might solutionate this problem...
    #import "SubpImpl.java" but in java?
Also, I've noticed that SubpImpl is a Subclass of Subp so, importing or including a subclass "header" in the mother class file does not make sense Does it?
Is this a program problem or is the way I am compiling it?

  • Error: Package StockTablePanel does not exist

I am running j2sdk1.4.0 on RedHat Linux 7.1. I think I set everything up correctly. Compiling simple packages with no custom packages imported works and runs. But when I have a custom package imported like
    import MyTable.*;
an error ... Package MyTable does not exist occurs.
The file MyTable.java compiled into several class files. The import package name matches the class definition in the MyTable.java file. The class files are in the current working directory which should be picked up by default, but since this did not work, I did try -classpath . with no success.
The funny thing is that -verbose indicates that these packages are found and loaded, but this darn error keeps a class file from being created.
Please, can someone shed some light on my problem. I am tired of surfing the web for an answer?
    Thank You,

Thankyou for your help. I think that I overly simplied my problem, because the use of -d did not seem to do the job. This is exactly what I have.
    Directory: ~/JTraining/Ch7/StockTableTabPanel
    Files: 1. PortfolioTotalsPanel.java
    2. StockTablePanel.java
    3. StockTableTabPanel.java
File 1 generates when compiled (javac -d classes <file1>)
    classes/PortfolioTotalsPanel$1.class
    classes/PortfolioTotalsPanel.class
File 2 generates when compiled (javac -d classes <file2>)
    classes/StockTablePanel$1.class
    classes/StockTablePanel.class
    classes/StockTablePanel$StockTableModel.class
File 3 when compiled returns errors (javac -d classes -classpath classes <file3>)
StockTableTabPanel.java:14 package StockTablePanel does not exist
    import StockTablePanel.*;
    ^
StockTableTabPanel.java:15 package PortfolioTotalsPanel does not exist
    import PortfolioTotalsPanel.*;
    ^
    2 errors
I tried absolute and relative pathnames with -d and -classpath. After the above errors while using the -verbose option, the [loading <jar and class> messages indicated that all the generated files of file1 and file2 except the two $1 files were loaded. So this error appears to indicated that two anonymous inner classes (created by event handle code) are the classes which cannot be found. But then again I might be way off and this is not the problem at all.
Thank you for any help that could be provided,

    Hi,
my basis consultant has informed me that he has applied SAP NOTE 203963 to over come an issue we are having in Slovakia. Howvever when I try and modify the program J_6GPU01 I get the following error message
    Package J6G0 does not exist
Further analysis shows this to be a TR414 error.
Has anyone seen this issue before or know why the package might not have been created. I have searched for other notes and even this forum for help but J6G0 doesn't seem to exist anywhere.
This note was applied using the instructions attached to the note. However my basis consultant informed me this was an old way of applying notes.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Error message: package Jfxcore does not exist

I have a file "Jfxcore.jar" in C:\Project. I added C:\Project\Jfxcore.jar to the classpath ( in xp control panel).
    My app, test1, has the line: import Jfxcore.*;
It is also located in C:\Project
when I compile from the commad line with : javac test1.java or javac -cp . test1.java i get the error: package Jfxcore does not exist.
importing any of the stuff that comes with java works fine. It only fails when I try to import my own jar or class files.
I think I must have missed a step somewhere. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? Thanks for the help.

Inside the jar file it has about 20 classes but they are named with
    "fxcore.classname" instead of Jfxcore.classname
I did not write the jar file and thought if the file name is Jfxcore.jar then that is what I should import.
when I use import fxcore.* it works.
I knew I was doing something stupid. Thanks for the help, you pointed me in the right direction.

    Install 4.0 pass ok!
    1. I was changing apexins.sql
    as PREFIX='@/usr/lib/oracle/xe/apex/'
and add path to coreins.sql as @/usr/lib/oracle/xe/apex/coreins.sql
    2. create two folders coreinscore and coreinsbuild and copy all files from folder core and folder build
    3. copy and rename endins.sql as coreinsendins.sql
after 10 min instalation pass ok!

  • Error 7 : DIGPRTCF does not exist

    hi,
with application builder I've the folowing message :
"error 7 : DIGPRTCF does not exist"
I've look for DIGPRTCF on my disk ... nobody!
I don't know what it is!
    What mean this error?
    thanks for your help.
    FD.

    Hi,
If you are building the installer for an application that includes support files that have custom destinations within the external VI library for the application, the 'error 7' is a bug fixed by 6.0.1 update (you can find it on NI site - downloads).
    Good Luck!

  • Error "Item 000010 does not exist" while creating sales order in VA01

    Dear All,
As per customer requirement we are trying to validate shipping data( item level) and unloading point( item level)  by customer enhancement.
    Enhancement:       V45A0003
    Function Module:    EXIT_SAPMV45A_003
    INCLUDE:                ZXVVAU05
Inside include we have written validation code that if user enters any wrong value for shipping data or unloading data
system will throw error message accordingly.
It is working fine and we are getting error message if wrong shipping data or unloading data is entered.
But after the error message is displayed if we try to save the sales order  again system throws a STOP message as a POPUP
saying "Item 000010 does not exist".
Now,if we enter proper shipping data or unloading data and try to save the salesorder it is throwing error "Item 000010 does not exist"..
Please let me know your valuable input on this.
    Regards
    Arindam

It sounds like your error routine has prevented the insertion of the data in VBAP or XVBAP internal tables.  Therefore, upon return to the screen and SAVE, SAP is examining the VBAP or XVBAP table, comparing to the 'I' index table probably, and finding that there is supposed to be an item 10, but it's not in the necessary table(s).    This may be resulting because your internal tables are now inconsistent.
Look at where your inserted error coding is occurring...you may want to move that to the SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE routine in MV45AFZZ, so that everything will have been built, and a final check of the content will stop the sales order save until the data is corrected.

  • Sales Order Error Message 'Product does not exist in system'

    Hi Gurus,
we recently upgraded from CRM 4 to 7.0. There is a ECC attached (which was also upgraded from 4.7 to 6.0 before).
Scenario: materials are replicatd from ECC to CRM. All mandatory customizing objects were initially loaded succesfully.
Because of the upgrade we already have "old" products in CRM. We requested a single product from ECC, the bdoc went through with green. The product can be found via commpr01 and also on database in comm_product. But when try to add the product to an sales order e.g. quotation, it gives the error message "product does not exist in the system.
We then tried to delete that product using the report com_product_delete_single. When entered the selection criteria for that report, we used the f4-valuehelp to enter the product. We found the product and then executed the report. But gives the message 'product not found'.
We also created a product for testing purposes directly in crm, but it shows the same behaviour in sales orders and for the deletion report.
Please help me with that issue. Your help will be highly appreciated!!!
    Kind regards
    Hannes

  • Import, package util does not exist

    Hi all,
I installed Tomcat 5.0 for Java WSDP and after Java Web Services Developer Pack 2.0. Hence I created a directory "SAMLTestTool" into the folder
    "tomcat50-jwsdp/webapps/ROOT/"
and I put inside some JSP files and some other directory (WEB-INF, META-INF...).
In some jsp file there is this line:
<%@page import="util.RequestUtil"%>and in the subdirectory "SAMLTestTool/WEB-INF/classes/util" there is the file "RequestUtil.class".
But when I try to open these file through the browser (for example "http://localhost:8080/SAMLTestTool/service_provider.jsp"), this is the error:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
An error occurred at line: 59 in the jsp file: /SAMLTestTool/service_provider.jsp
    Generated servlet error:
        [javac] Compiling 1 source file
tomcat50-jwsdp/work/Catalina/localhost/_/org/apache/jsp/SAMLTestTool/service_005fprovider_jsp.java:6: package util does not exist
import util.RequestUtil; What does it mean? Where should I put the folder "util" in a such way that this package will be found?

ROOT is a special folder configured to pertain to an empty context root.
If you put a folder there it is simply a folder but you are trying to use it as a context root.
So either keep what you have and put your util folder in:
    tomcat50-jwsdp/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes
    or
    Move your SAMLTestTool to:
    tomcat50-jwsdp/webapps/
    Hope that helps.
