I cant actually open firefox, nothing beyond the crash report window

I've not been able to open the program,
it keeps erroring out with crash report
but nothing beyond that
is there any way of being able to get back into it,
and access bookmarks rather than just re-installing

Firefox was working fine, I closed it and later it would not open at all. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and it will now open. I've followed all the directions and all I get is the crash reporter when I try to open firefox. It does not open at all. HELP

I was using firefox and everything was working fine. I shut it down and when I went back later, it would not open at all. Firefox was working fine in the morning, after half a day, it just crashed and now every time i try to start FF it crashes, i reinstalled FF, even tryed FF 4 beta, every time same crash report window, and nothing happens.

Other applications print okay? If so, try deleting the Preview .plist
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder "Go To Folder" command. Enter ~`/Library. Delete the .plist(s) for the application.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below. It does work with Mountain Lion:

You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.2. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Firefox will no open at all it just bounces on the dock a few times and does nothing. Also the crash reporter crashes.

I came back to firefox due to some issues with chrome i had some older version had no issues with it i deleted some old extensions i never neded and so on i had no issues with anything last thing i did i went on twitch and was watching stream and then after that i went to bed i didnt download nor did i get news extensions.After i woke up decided to go on the internet first thing it wouldn't open i went in task manager to see if i opened it i did i waited a bit nothing hapend and i ended the task then i tried it again same thing but after that i got a error firefox.exe-application error under it said like this. I didint know what to do i tried it many times but nothing either i woud get the error or it wouldnt open at all so i reinstaled firefox deleted and the folder too after i instaled the latest version i evreytime i would try to open firefox i would get this error firefox.exe-Application Error and under it : The exception unknown software exeception (0xc06d007e) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812aeb. This is a Windows error when a file is damaged, however please consider seeing a computer technician if you are seeing this in multiple programs.

Any Mozilla product I install crashes at startup. The first window I see when I open a Mozilla product is the crash reporter. I have tried every possible solution but cannot open anything. It started with firefox. Can anyone please help?

Hi there, as the question says, I cannot open any Mozilla product. I have tried to install firefox 3.6, older versions of Firefox, Firefox 4.0, Sea Monkey, Thunder Bird and Sun Bird. I have the same problem everytime. I open any of these programs and the first and the only window that appears is the crash reporter. I've tried opening it in Safe Mode and the same occurs. I have tried entirely uninstalling the products incuding the registry keys but no help. I shall post the detailed error reports, if they help solving this issue. Can you kindly look into this and find a solution as I use all of these Mozilla products and my life has been a hell since they've ben down.

Same problem over here as well, FF 7 is ok but FF8 / FF9 and Thunderbird 8 / 9 crash on startup.
They both work if I start them in safe mode with everything enabled.

When I open Firefox I get the message "Firefox is already running but not responding . . .

I am using Firefox 3.6.9 with Windows XP SP3. Almost every time I try to open Firefox I get the message:
"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
I then must open Task Manager and find Firefox and stop the process.
I run Firefox on 4 Windows machines and this is the only machine that I have this problem on.
I have looked at the Mozilla Firefox KB and have tried to check on the items that could be causing the problem. I have update my Java in Firefox. I have un-installed Firefox leaving the Bookmark preferences, etc. on my machine, ran CCleaner to clean the Registry of remaining Firefox items and then re-installed Firefox - I still have the problem.
I have installed Google Chrome to fix this problem but now I find that several of the websites and companies I do business with are not compatible with Chrome.
How can I fix this problem? Why am I only having this issue on 1 of my 4 Windows machines?

Firefox crash reporter window popup won't follow up and report when I click on report crash, and I cannot quit firefox so that I can open the browser, I only get the crash reporter opening

Firefox crashed, when I tried to restart firefox the crash reporter dialogue box opens. Only 2 choices are offered, restart firefox and quit firefox. Neither option will work. I cannot quit firefox and when I opt to restart firefox the only thing I get is another dialogue box opening.

Usually doesn't immediately crash, although that happens also. Usually hangs, then crashes.
Addons are WHY I use Firefox when it works. I am NOT on the bleeding edge any longer. I could go back to boring, boring, Chrome.

Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
There is also a lot of useful stuff in the [[Firefox crashes]] Knowledge Base article. If you've recently upgraded, you might want to check out [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues#w_firefox-crashes-when-i-start-it this article] as well.

Ever since downloading Firefox 4, whenever I try to open Firefox I get the download Icon and disk and am not allowed to send it to trash as I have down in other downloads.

I downloaded Firefox 4 a while ago. I followed the instructions and tried to get rid of the Icon on my desktop and the disk. Whenever I try to do so I get a message stating that the disk "Firefox" couldn't be ejected because Firefox is using it and that I have to quit the application and try to eject the disk again. But whenever I try to open Firefox I get the download Icon (the one with the fox and the arrow) and the disk back in my desktop. Can I ever get rid of them?

Did you drag the the Firefox program from the disk image (DMG) to the application folder on your hard drive ?
