I cant delete my songs

i deleted a song on my itunes thingy and plugged it in, but i cant get it to delete off the ipod

There are several methods of deleting songs from the iPod and/or iTunes, and the method you choose depends on the settings you have selected for your iPod.
If you have the iPod set to automatically transfer songs, and you no longer want a copy of those songs on either the iPod or in iTunes, simply delete the songs in iTunes. Highlight the songs you no longer want then right click and select "clear", or from the edit menu select "clear". Next time you connect the iPod, the songs will be deleted from there also.
Only do this if you no longer want the songs on both the iPod and your computer.
You can also use the "only update checked songs" method in the iPod options (right click on the iPod in the source list in iTunes and select options, then select "only update checked songs"). With this preference checked, you can remove the check mark from the songs in iTunes that you no longer want on the iPod. The next time you connect the iPod, those unchecked songs will be removed from the iPod whilst still being retained in iTunes. You can check and uncheck songs as you change your mind about what songs you want to put on the iPod. Songs that have no check mark against them will be skipped over when played back in iTunes.
If you have the iPod set to manually manage your songs, and you want to delete the song from the iPod only, then select the iPod in the source list of iTunes, or click on the "music" option underneath it to show all your songs. Highlight the song(s) you no longer want on the iPod, right click and select "clear", or use the edit menu as previously mentioned.
This method only deletes the songs from the iPod, so if you no longer want the song in iTunes also, you'll need to delete it from there separately using the method above.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, all these settings can be found in the summary screen.
If you want to delete everything from the iPod and completely erase the hard drive and start from scratch, then you can restore the iPod to factory settings.
Only do this if you have the songs in your iTunes library, or a back up somewhere other than the iPod itself.

  • N85 Cant delete preloaded songs.

I connected my N85 to my computer as a 'Mass Storage Device' and deleted the preloaded songs that came with the phone. I know that the files dont exist on my phone anymore. When I go to the music player, the Artist and Song Name still shows up. If I go to click on the files then it says that there was an error.
Anyone know what to do so that deleted song names dont continue to show up? I have deleted other songs without an issue, just the nokiapreloaded songs are causing a problems for me.
    Thanks in advance

You can do this to rebuild the library as it is corrupted.
    Restart your device and then refresh your library. If this doesn't help then;
Connect the phone to your pc/lappy and put in 'Data transfer' mode.
    To delete the library files:
    - Ensure you can see hidden files in Windows Explorer:
Windows Explorer .. Tools .. Folder Options .. View
Select "Show hidden files and folders"
    - Connect the phone to your PC using the USB cable in "Data transfer" mode
    - Find and rename (or delete if you're really brave) files with names like:
    E:\private\101FFC31\mpxv1.mpd
    E:\private\101FFC31\pcv5.mpd
    E:\private\101ffca9\harvesterdb.dat
(assuming the phone's mass memory / card has been connected as E)
Note that the folder names may be different and the files may have prefixes - eg: mpxv1.mpd could be called abcmpxv1.mpd.  Basically, you need to search under the Private folder for any files that look similar.
Now just refresh the Music Player library and the job is done.
This will take longer than normal as it's a complete refresh, but it should now work.

  • Cant delete itunes songs from my iphone

my itunes songs have maxed out my storage and need to know how to delete from iphone4

    Howdy lynndan,
You can remove songs from your iPhone by swiping the song, then tapping 'Delete.'
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

  • I cant delete a song I bought on iTunes

I bought a song on iTunes on my ipad, and now I want to delete it. iTunes match is disabled and I have no songs from the iCloud. All my other sons I can delete by swiping left but this one particular song does not slide and There is no delete button! What do I do?
I have tried closing the app and also restarting the iPad.

I've noticed this myself in a few tracks.
The inability to edit is frustrating.
I found that if I went to the actual file in its folder and did Get Info, the file was locked. I clicked the "lock" icon and then I had permission to read and write. However, it required me to close and reopen the iTunes application for the change to take effect.
And I was not able to delete from within the itunes library -- had to actually delete from the folder was well. Again the "delete" didn't take effect until itunes was restarted at which point the exclamation point indicated the track couldn't be located and I could delete the phantom.

  • I cant delete anything in my itunes as it just crashes

since having itunes match , which im going to let lapse as its pretty useless and constantly loses its info and restores itself!  I cant delete any songs or movies without it crashing, i cant even turn it off.
why is it the more apple add the less it works!!!!

    Hello,
Please open Firefox in Safe Mode and test to see if the the problem still occurs.
See here: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
If the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode then there is a good chance that an Addon or setting is causing the problem. Follow the instructions in the support article above to identify the add-on causing the issue and then disable or remove it.
If the problem still occurs even when opening in safe mode then I suggest doing a Firefox Reset. Again this can be done by holding shift as you open Firefox (select 'Reset' from the options this time).
A reset will return Firefox to its default settings. Your history and bookmarks will be saved but you will need to reinstall your add-ons.
[[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]
    I hope that helps.

  • HT5772 Why can't i delete one song in particular?

I have one song that was purchased from itunes by my boyfriend on my Ipad, and i absolutely hate the song and i want to delete it but for some reason I cant delete this song, and its the only one that will not give me the delete option, can someone help? Thanks

It's a bit tricky. Go to the iTunes Store on your computer, select purchased, delete the song from the purchased list by clicking the x button. Now, on your iPad sign out of the iTunes Store and sign back in again. The song should be gone. I had the same problem with a music video.

  • I cant delete songs from my iPhone

I have songs on my iPhone that I cant delete. I have tried unchecking them everywhere in my library, checking the Sync only checked songs, etc, I've tried to delete them by hand on my phone. Its as if they are a corrupted version of the song and stuck in my phone. Ive downloaded my music a dozen times trying to get these songs off and they always are there. They arent even whole albums, just one or two songs form an album. Ive checked the manually manage music button, Ive searched for duplicates in my library and Ive run out of ideas.
    What is the problem here?

Thank you for the suggestions. In response to the playlist possibility, I don't have a playlist made. I intentionally deleted it thinking that might be the problem.
As far as swiping the songs to delete them, I was able to delete the majority of the ones I didn't want by doing this. But these particular ones will not delete by swiping to the left. If I try that they will begin to play.

  • I cant delete music from my iphone since downloading iOS 7 i have tried synching it and making sure that i only download checked songs bt still wont get rid of them..can anyone help?

After downloading ios7 i cant delete msuic from my iphone can anyone help?

    Hello Amanda,
I wonder if you are seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.  The items you see with the iCloud icon next to them are purchased songs that you can stream from iTunes in the Cloud.  You can hide these songs in Settings on the iPhone:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud: Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
These steps are from the iPhone User Guide:
    iPhone User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph6e2dfb83
If there are just specific songs you would like to hide, you can hide them using the iTunes Store on your computer:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Once you hide the songs on your computer, I recommend quitting and relaunching the Music app on your iPhone.  You can find more information about hiding purchases here:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4919
If the songs do not display a cloud icon next to them, try deleting them directly from the iPhone using these steps:
    Tap the Music app.
    Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
    Tap Delete.
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, or Mac App Store

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

    Hi Sgirl!
I can understand that you are anxious to get access to your device again!
Under these circumstances, that only way to restore your device is to first make sure that your iTunes and OS is updated.
Then follow this article to set the device in system restore mode and restore it to factory settings.

  • Cant delete songs or playlists

everytime i click on a song and press the delete button, itunes quits unexpectedly. I always relaunch it and no matter how much ways i try to delete a song or playlist, itunes always quits. the same goes for imovie and ical. i just recently installed ilife 08 so im guessing that is what caused this. can someone help me please.

Thank you both for your replies.
In addition to having to physically select and delete each and every song, I learned that you have to go up to the toolbar and select "eject". It's not a physical disconnect, but I guess that completes the removal process from the iPod's memory. It's the only thing that works.
I wish Apple's owner's manuals were updated to reflect this kind of stuff...now my iPod won't turn off unless I toggle it back and forth between Menu and Play. I will never buy another one, and will be looking for alternative MP3 players for two Christmas gifts I was going to buy for young 'uns.
    Thanks again.
