  • I cant delete songs from my iPhone

I have songs on my iPhone that I cant delete. I have tried unchecking them everywhere in my library, checking the Sync only checked songs, etc, I've tried to delete them by hand on my phone. Its as if they are a corrupted version of the song and stuck in my phone. Ive downloaded my music a dozen times trying to get these songs off and they always are there. They arent even whole albums, just one or two songs form an album. Ive checked the manually manage music button, Ive searched for duplicates in my library and Ive run out of ideas.
    What is the problem here?

Thank you for the suggestions. In response to the playlist possibility, I don't have a playlist made. I intentionally deleted it thinking that might be the problem.
As far as swiping the songs to delete them, I was able to delete the majority of the ones I didn't want by doing this. But these particular ones will not delete by swiping to the left. If I try that they will begin to play.

    Hi kimmy2468,
Does this happen with all the songs in library?..

  • Cant delete song

Basically there is a song that I dont even know how it got there and I cant remove it....
    Here is a picture: 0284ef9521a7e867b873a5cbd6a8717d.png
As you can see the bin icon is dimmed and when I try to move it to the trash it wont let me, I tried to edit the file name and removing the extension name 'mp3' but that didn't do anything.
    Any help ?

    Try the following -
Launch the Terminal app, located in /Applications/Utilities
type rm followed by a space. That's arr emm. Don't press return yet.
Drag and drop the file you are trying to delete on top of the Terminal window. The path to that file will appear after the rm command.
    Now press return.
The file should disappear. If Terminal asks for your admin password, enter it. The password will not appear as you type it.
That should do it. Let us know if there is a problem.
Note that using the UNIX rm command is not recommended for ordinary use as it pretty much lets the user delete anything they want, including system files that are needed to run the computer. Do this only as a last resort and only with files you know are safe to delete.
    Best of luck.

  • Cant delete songs or playlists

everytime i click on a song and press the delete button, itunes quits unexpectedly. I always relaunch it and no matter how much ways i try to delete a song or playlist, itunes always quits. the same goes for imovie and ical. i just recently installed ilife 08 so im guessing that is what caused this. can someone help me please.

Thank you both for your replies.
In addition to having to physically select and delete each and every song, I learned that you have to go up to the toolbar and select "eject". It's not a physical disconnect, but I guess that completes the removal process from the iPod's memory. It's the only thing that works.
I wish Apple's owner's manuals were updated to reflect this kind of stuff...now my iPod won't turn off unless I toggle it back and forth between Menu and Play. I will never buy another one, and will be looking for alternative MP3 players for two Christmas gifts I was going to buy for young 'uns.
    Thanks again.

  • Cant delete songs from iPad Air?

Okay Ive tried going to settings and turning off the "Show all music"-setting. Some songs dissappeared, but some stayed and STILL wont go away no matter what I do!
These are songs that are like 3-4 years old that I dont listen to anymore, and are REALLY REALLY annoying the crap outta me, and Ive deleted them EVERYWHERE, but theyre there on my iPad and dont allow themselves to be deleted.
    What do I do?

I have been using iTunes/iCloud for a long time so I know how it's supposed to work. That's a FYI.
The problem stated above is happening to me as well. I can delete the iCloud library completely but when I try to add new music the entire cloud library shows back up. That is what the OP is trying to sat as well.
If I just close iTunes, when I start it up again, there is the entire cloud library again. I don't have to touch "update iTunes".
These songs are showing up on my iPhone as well. None have been downloaded. They have the cloud with the down arrow next to them.

  • I cant delete my songs

i deleted a song on my itunes thingy and plugged it in, but i cant get it to delete off the ipod

There are several methods of deleting songs from the iPod and/or iTunes, and the method you choose depends on the settings you have selected for your iPod.
If you have the iPod set to automatically transfer songs, and you no longer want a copy of those songs on either the iPod or in iTunes, simply delete the songs in iTunes. Highlight the songs you no longer want then right click and select "clear", or from the edit menu select "clear". Next time you connect the iPod, the songs will be deleted from there also.
Only do this if you no longer want the songs on both the iPod and your computer.
You can also use the "only update checked songs" method in the iPod options (right click on the iPod in the source list in iTunes and select options, then select "only update checked songs"). With this preference checked, you can remove the check mark from the songs in iTunes that you no longer want on the iPod. The next time you connect the iPod, those unchecked songs will be removed from the iPod whilst still being retained in iTunes. You can check and uncheck songs as you change your mind about what songs you want to put on the iPod. Songs that have no check mark against them will be skipped over when played back in iTunes.
If you have the iPod set to manually manage your songs, and you want to delete the song from the iPod only, then select the iPod in the source list of iTunes, or click on the "music" option underneath it to show all your songs. Highlight the song(s) you no longer want on the iPod, right click and select "clear", or use the edit menu as previously mentioned.
This method only deletes the songs from the iPod, so if you no longer want the song in iTunes also, you'll need to delete it from there separately using the method above.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, all these settings can be found in the summary screen.
If you want to delete everything from the iPod and completely erase the hard drive and start from scratch, then you can restore the iPod to factory settings.
Only do this if you have the songs in your iTunes library, or a back up somewhere other than the iPod itself.

  • I cant delete music from my iphone since downloading iOS 7 i have tried synching it and making sure that i only download checked songs bt still wont get rid of them..can anyone help?

After downloading ios7 i cant delete msuic from my iphone can anyone help?

    Hello Amanda,
I wonder if you are seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.  The items you see with the iCloud icon next to them are purchased songs that you can stream from iTunes in the Cloud.  You can hide these songs in Settings on the iPhone:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud: Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
These steps are from the iPhone User Guide:
    iPhone User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph6e2dfb83
If there are just specific songs you would like to hide, you can hide them using the iTunes Store on your computer:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Once you hide the songs on your computer, I recommend quitting and relaunching the Music app on your iPhone.  You can find more information about hiding purchases here:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4919
If the songs do not display a cloud icon next to them, try deleting them directly from the iPhone using these steps:
    Tap the Music app.
    Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
    Tap Delete.
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, or Mac App Store

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Cant edit or delete Songs!

I can't edit or delete songs. If i delete, nothing happens, At all. If i edit, its just grey. I have unticked my music folder for 'read-only' and then reopened iTunes and ran as administator, nothing.
    Please help.
    Vista.

I see... You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the program. It will automatically detect your music library and re-add it into your iTunes. This is how most issues are resolved.
    WINDOWS VISTA:
              1. Quit iTunes.
              2. Start --> Control Panel --> "Uninstall a Program", you should now be  at the "Programs and Features" panel.
              3. Select iTunes and click Remove. Do not restart your computer. (Also delete iPod Updater if applicable)
And then… In this order, also remove:
                        1. QuickTime
                        2. Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support
                        3. Bonjour. (Also delete Apple Application Support if applicable)
              4. Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download to download and install the latest version of iTunes.

  • Can't delete songs from ipad and cant even play them

I deleted all the music from my ipad by going in general menu, there it is showing zero music files. but i can see songs in music folder, and they cannot be played but are visible , how to delete?

This may be OBE long ago, but for anyone still having problems...if the "swipe" does not work try this -
    After selecting "music"
    (1) select "Playlists" on the bottom of the iPad display;
    (2) select "purchased" (this will list a boat load of songs);
    (3) select "Edit" - its at the top of the left-most column ...this will create a "red circle" with a "minus sign" inside to the left of each song  (this will allow you to delete songs)
    (4) scroll through the list for the items you want to delete (it will list the data with three columns - song title - artist - album name);
    (5) select the red circle/minus sign for the song you want to delete/remove - a red rectangle labled "Remove" should appear on the far right in the same row as the song
    (6) select "Remove"
Its tedious but if the "swipe doesn't work" hopefully this will.
