I cant download apps on my ipod

please help! i cant download apps on my ipod! once ive pressed install, it just goes to the grey loading app icon and it stays like that until i switch my ipod off. i dropped my ipod about 3 monthes ago and a bit of the corner chipped out so im not sure if its to do with that or not.
please help as this is very annoying and i cant download ANYTHING.

- What model iPod and iOS? Presently there an Apple problem that prevent 1G iPod and 2G iPod with iOS 3.1.3 from downloading apps on the iPod.
- If that is not the problem try the following:
- Rest. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Unless you have iOS 4.3+ on your iPod (your current version is shown in Settings > General > About > Version) then you won't be able to download and install that app.
You can check if your iPod supports a higher version of iOS than you currently have by connecting it to computer's iTunes and selecting it on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button. If it doesn't find any available updates then I assume that it's an older iPod and that it's on its version, so you won't be able to update it to iOS 4.3+ nor to download that app onto it.
If it does find an available update then before you start the update first copy any purchases off the iPod to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off it as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPod by right-clicking the iPod 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update.

Same issue, possibly different circumstance? After each software update on my iPod 5, apps that I use regularly and/or have paid for are removed from my iPod. When I go to the app store to reinstall them, there is no option to reinstall or download. I have no restrictions set on my iPod.

it's up to the app creators whether they are going to continue to create updates that are backwards compatible - if they choose to make newer updates so they will only work with current software then you are pretty much stuck.

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

Your 1G iPod Touch cannot be upgraded past iOS 3.1.3. Many apps that are available in the App Store not require a higher version of iOS (such as iOS 4) in order to be compatible with your device. So if an app requires a higher version of iOS than what is supported by your iPod Touch, you will not be able to sync or download that app to your device. Sorry.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

That means you have to sign into/view your account and review you account and make sure you have a valid payment method specified in your account.

Fix the billing information on the account. Until that is done there is nothing that can be done.
It should be possible to set the billing information to "None" on the Apple ID.
Keep in mind, content acquired from the iTunes store is permanently tied to the Apple ID it was acquired with.
