I cant download new music to my ipod.  I am now using a new computer with Windows 8.

I cant download new music to my ipod.  I am now using a new computer with Windows 8.  Itunes is now on the new computer.  New songs apear there and will play on the computer.

I plugged my ipod into the computer, it "interacted" briefly, but when finished, the new songs were not on the ipod.  (It is an older ipod I have had for years).  I just read on a different post how to access the latest itunes program update.  I did that, then plugged the ipod into the computer again.  The ipod is now real busy interacting with the computer a lot longer.  Maybe that fixed it.  I will let you know after it is finished.  Thanks for the help!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
You can also try deleting all music by:
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I press okay then it says about another itunes library If i want to sync my ipod i have to "erase and sync" if i go ahead with this will it erase all my photos?? All im worried about are my pictures.... if i do this will it erase my pictures... so far i havent been able to put the recently added music to my ipod... i tried it my husbands iphone and synced it since he has no music or videos... and it had the autofill option so i did this... and it worked.. why will it not work on my ipod..

You can only sync everything with your one syncing computer/iTunes library. Yu can:
    - Make this your syncing computer by:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
    - Use the manual method to copy music and videos from any computer/iTunes library to the iPod. See the manual method included here:

  • HT203167 I would like to download my music from an iPod to iTunes library is that possible? Our last computer got fried so unable to retreive info from it to new computer. Will I have to re-install all the music from CD's?

I would like to download my music from my iPod touch to iTunes library, is that possible?  Our old computer fried and we were unable to salvage any information.  All of the music that I downloaded from CD's is not in iTunes on our new computer. Will I have to reload all CD's?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, then you will need to rip the dvds again

  • Cant download my music to my apple devices

    hello,
I cant download my music on my iTunes, to my ipad, ipad mini, or iphone. it says its synching but its not transferring.
Any ideas? everything is up to date, and when I was updating my iphone to the lasted ios 8.1 it deleted everything on my phone

You may need to set up automatic syncing for the iPod in iTunes.
First, if the iTunes sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Find the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES, and select it.  There is a bar of buttons near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
NOTE:  When you set up automatic syncing, any songs on the iPod that are not in your new iTunes library will be lost.
Check the box for Sync Music.  You can choose to sync Entire music library, if your iTunes music library fits on the iPod.  With this setting, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the iPod.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod from the lists below.  If you want newly added songs to sync to the iPod, they must be part of your selection.  For example, you can add them to a playlist that you have selected for syncing to the iPod.
When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes library (based on your settings on the iPod's Music screen) sync automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync).

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Unable to put new music onto my ipod nano

Please, please can someone help me. I am unable to load any new music onto my ipod. When I put the cd into my the computer drive a message comes up "newer version of quick time required. Quick time version 7.0.2. is installed, itunes requires quick time version 7.0.03 or later. Please reinstall itunes.
I have reinstalled itunes - it still comes up with the same message. I have downloaded quick time from the website (windows version with and without itunes) and it still won't let me do anything and comes up with the same error message. After 2 hours of this - I've rather had enough of Apple and what at the moment is a rather defunct piece of equipment!
I would really appreciate any help that can be given. As you might of noticed I'm not a technical person...
    Thanks.

Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?

  • Itunes will no longer sync new music to my ipod

I've had my ipod for a year and have been able to use it fine. Now, however, the ability to sync new music to my ipod has been removed. I've recently bought a new computer and successfully transferred everything over and been able to sync my ipod with the new computer and it has been working fine. THen I decided to buy some new music from the itunes store. At first I bought a few songs and placed them in a pre-existing playlist and that worked fine. Then I decided to download the next part of an audio book I bought a while ago off audible so I could listen to the next part and while I could download it it wouldn't add to itunes the way I've done it for the last 80 or so audiobooks I've downloaded from audible (go to file, select add file to library, find file, double click and then sync)
There was no error message, just when I synced it wasn't there. So I bought an album from the itunes store. Again, something I've done before. I can buy the album, I can download it, I can even make a playlist for the album and listen to it on my computer. When I sync I get no error message but nothing I try can get that album from my computer onto my ipod.
The only way I can listen to anything new (including the stuff I have already paid for) is to do so on my computer, which I don't want to do as I can't carry my computer around public transport with me. Besides, this is why I bought an ipod!
I'm not trying to do aything new, just what I've done before.
    Thank you in advance!

    - You can redownload yur apps at no additional cost.  See:
How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store
    - You only get one download of music and it is up to you to make a backup.  However, sometimes if you explain what happens the iTunes store may allow a redownload of music.  You can contact them by starting here and selecting the appropriate topic:
