  • Can't Drag & Drop Songs into Playlists

I am astounded that this appears to be such a wide spread issue and there do not seem to be any useful responses to the issue. I have always been able to drag music from my iTunes library into playlists I have already created. Now the playlists I previously created (they were not created as genius playlists) all have a funny "gear wheel" shaped symbol next to them and will not accept anything dragged from the library. If I create a new playlist (which now shows a "purchased music" symbol) and give it the name of one of the already created playlists, I can drag library music into it, but I don't want to have to recreate every playlist and manually re-drag every song into the playlists. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks

I have about 50 playlists that I created as playlists and have always been able to add songs to as I purchased them. The lists were originally created as regular playlists. Then, one day I opened up iTunes and all the existing playlists I had created as playlists, and has always added songs to, had the "gear" symbols and acted like genius playlists. How can I change them back and why did this happen...any ideas?

    Correct.
You cannot transfer (move) songs to another playlist.
You can copy to a regular playlist but not a smart playlist (with a gear icon).

If you go to the Now Playing screen, the Repeat control is the the arrowed racetrack icon on the left side right below the scrubber bar. Tap the icon to change. It is white when Repeat is off.

  • Quicktime movie only has the first song in the play list. after export

when I export an album to quicktime the quicktime movie only has the first song in the play list.  The slide show works in i photo with all songs in the playlist but the quicktime only takes the first song and repeats it over and over

I used the garage band method to string the songs together.   Then used the mega song to play with my album. and it even exported to the quicktime movie.  Thanks for the post.

If you are syncing music with an iTunes library, you may want to try setting up syncing in iTunes again by following the steps in the appropriate article below. If you're syncing music, try un-checking and then re-checking the "Sync music" checkbox in iTunes.

    Hi Mike,
I have Iphones since they cam out buy IO7 on my iphone 4 is slow and frustrating. I sync itunes with sync window. I tried cable and wireless. I have enough space. If I have a playlist say with 200 songs it will say on itunes sync window syncing 200 songs however I only get 150 songs on my iphone. I have restored iphone twice, I have tried playlists and smart play lists. It seems not to sync the same songs all the time. Prior to IO7 in sinced all my songs. I see on the chats that this is a big problem. Do you have any solutions. the songs that dont sync are the same format as those that do.

  • Cant Drag Music files into iTunes

    Hi there,
I have been using iTunes for ages with out any problems but from yesterday I have found that I cant drag music files from a folder (My Music etc)into iTunes library or straight to my iPod.
I can still use the "add file or folder" to library commands which work fine but I just cant drag files into iTunes like I used to. When I try I just get the circle with a line through it. The music files I am trying to drag are in the right format and I have even tried some files with are already on my iPod.
Also I use winamp as my default player. When I double click on any music files in a folder winamp will open but does not play the file. I can still select "play file" from winamp and browse for the track I want to play. That works fine.
So the same kind of thing is happening for both iTunes and winamp. I have searched for answers but still cant fix it. I have uninstalled and installed both iTunes and winamp. I remember having a problem like this before a long time ago but cant remember how to fix it.
    Its driving me insane!

Are you just looking through the main library?
My videos never show up under the main library anymore.
They just show up under the movie or tv show headers.

  • Can't drag new song into playlist

I just purchased a song and attempted to drag it from the "Recently Purchased" column to my "Christmas" playlist. I get a warning that says only iCloud songs can be put in iCloud playlists and the song will only be available on the computer if I proceed...but this IS an iCloud song. The button I am apparently supposed to select says "Remove Playlist." I'm pretty sure I don't want to do that.
I keep reading negative comments on forums about the iCloud and I have to say, it's been nothing but trouble for me so far. Can I simply remove it (without disrupting my library) and just take the $25 loss? It's not worth the hassle.

    Just bought a new ipod
Where did you find a new 4G iPod?
all of the songs in the ipod show up as light gray on my computer screen
Because the iPod is set to Auto update.
I copied one song from cd, made new playlist of this song,
You don't have to put song into a playlist to put them onto the iPod. Playlists are an easy way to arrange music and select certain tracks.
Open iTunes prefs -> iPod. Set it to Auto update ALL songs and playlists.
Any new songs and playlists will go onto the iPod when you plug it in.

  • Drag & drop songs into iTunes?

I used to be able to drag and drop songs into my iTunes, but I cannot any longer.  I'm using a PC and running the latest version of iTunes.  Can anyone help me figure out how? Is there some setting change?  Thanks!

You can't reorder songs in the library using drag and drop, that only works in a playlist. You can only arrange the library by clicking at the head of any particular column which gives you an alpha numeric sort option. Try this, I found that it works for me. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album column. If you like you can then click on Artist which is how I prefer mine ordered, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Artist>Album>Track Number within Album (you can hide the track number column when you've done if you don't want it cluttering up the view)

  • After dragging a song into a playlist, the playlist menu window just stays put and in the way. what gives?

So I'm putting together a playlist in Itunes 11.1.5, selecting songs and dragging them over into the pop-in playlist menu, as you do.
The first thing I notice is that the menu won't appear after I've begun dragging the chosen song and I need to grab and drag it a second time to make the playlist pop-in materialize.
That second attempt is always successful in that the song does get added to the selected playlist, but then the playlist drop-in menu simply hangs out, rather than sliding out of view again. It blocks the righthand third of everything and nothing makes it go away. the only respite is to switch over to the "playlists" view which, presumably because it doesn't have that functionality of the drop-in menu, disappears same. When switching back to the Album view, the drop-in menu will be gone, but my place in my library will be lost.
    Annoying.
    Any ideas?

Possibly a multiple tag issue. Try right click and Convert ID3 Tag > None two or three times, then Convert ID3 Tag > v2.3. You'll need to reapply album art, but I susepct that will fix it. iTunes works best with a single ID3v2.3 tag but some software creates parallel v1 tags, and it is even possible to add multiple tags for multiple languages. iTunes behaviour with multiple tags is somewhat unpredictable, occassionaly causing it to revert changes it seems to have applied.

  • Can I drag Spotify songs into iTunes? (After purchasing Premium Spotify.)

I am thinking about buying Premium Spotify but before I do I was wondering if there is a way to drag songs from Spotify to iTunes after downloading them? I know you can take iTunes songs to Spotify. But I want to buy Spotify but keep using iTunes. So is there a way to get Spotify songs into iTunes?

    No. Spotify says here...
"Can I listen Spotify music with my own music player?
No. Why? This is simple. Spotify use a protected files, so music player like iTunes or WMP can not read those as music files. Only Spotify can understand those files. Also you need to use Spotify, because only this way Spotify can pay for right holders."
Spotify is like Netflix, you can have access and listen to all the music, but you can never own them and do whatever you please with them.

  • Cant sync my songs into itunes from iphone

Hi guys I rebooted my computer and I have installed iTunes again. Because I have reinstalled, my songs wont show up on the library when I go to on this phone it shows my songs but I cant sync new songs because it says remove and sync? How do I get rid of this I don't want all my songs to get deleted, Also most of my songs are not from iTunes store.... Help?

By 'rebooted' do you mean that you only rebooted it, or that you reinstalled its software ?
If rebooted then aare the songs still on your computer, just not in iTunes - by default your iTunes library is stored under :
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    Windows Vista: \Users\username\Music\iTunes
    Windows 7 and Windows 8: \Users\username\My Music\iTunes
If it's there then File > Add To Library in iTunes should let you add it back.
If not then you should be able to copy iTunes purchases (including apps, films etc) back from your phone via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
For non-iTunes purchases (and for purchases if need be) there are some programs listed half-way down this page which can copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Then add them to iTunes via File > Add To Library
If iTunes thinks that you are trying to sync the phone to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
