i found the error!
little snitch on os x blocks something (i dont know what exact) of adobe in the background. i have no rule defined for adobe in little snitch, so everything of adobe can go out.
when i stop little snitch, everything works fine - photoshop opens videos without the medialink error, photoshop starts up in seconds and premiere starts without a quicktime error.
i report the problem also to objective developement to fix this!

Absolutely right. I restarted in Safe Mode. This enabled me to see the actual text on the screen. Then I backed up. Then reinstalled. All fixed.

Took a bunch of photos on vacation one day, and it seems like the first batch from one day are not showing up, but then all of a sudden, the ones from the second half of the day are there. They are not showing up on the photostream on my iPhone on which I took the photos, or on my iPad or in iPhoto on my computer. Any idea why this could be happening? All the other photos I took all week showed up on my Photostream.
Is there anyway to force these photos into the photostream?

I cant open .dat files downloaded from iPad app on my computer. Any ideas?
I recorded some audio using a really rubbish app called My Video Diary. After I recorded it, I became unable to access the information through the app as it either disappeared or the links no longer worked. Fortunatelly, I had backed everything up on to the cloud. So, I then used my computer to access the files on the Ipad and realised a lot of the files were there. Some of the files were saved as: .caf and I can open this on my computer despite not being able to access them on the app. However, I cannot open any of the files ending in .dat. Some of them can still be accessed through the app but some of then can't be accessed at all.
I have tried VLC and this won't work. I also tried converting them using a programme called isky and I cannot load them on to the programme.

I installed a new hard drive into my MacBook and now it grey screens, any ideas to fix it?

I have a late 2009 aluminum MacBook that was having some troubles recently with the hard drive where it would start to spin up and then click back. My computer slowed WAY down, and I was having boot problems, after doing some reading online I figured it was about to go. So I backed up everything and shortly thereafter the drive went and I couldn't boot in any mode and all the drivechecks using diskwarrior came back as corrupted: unrepairable.
So, no biggie. I upgraded the drive to a Seagate 750GB Momentus XT Hybrid Hard Drive. The install of that went fine and I installed OSX, reloaded everything from time machine, and had my computer back. Until, I performed an OSX software update.
Upon restart, nothing happened. And I mean nothing. With the old harddrive I'd get the apple and it would try and boot in recovery mode. With the new harddrive, I get the boot noise and then a grey screen, I am not able to boot into any mode, or do anything at all. Just a grey screen. So, my question for the apple community, would be, where should I go from here? I am pretty sure that the harddrive was compatible with my machine as I had seen it recommended on these forums. My only thought is to buy a usb to sata cable and remove the new drive and test in using another computer, just to see if the drive is functioning.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in Advance. Oh, and in case your wondering why I just dont take in into a Mac store for a fix, I live in a small alaskan town and there is nothing like that around, so, I am the only repair man in town.jrmetzger,

Given your situation, I’d highly recommended that you purchase a SATA-to-USB adapter, so that you can test both your old disk and your new disk externally, since it might be that the problem is due to a faulty internal SATA cable rather than due to faulty disks. -
my laptop stops responding when I open email right in the middle of writing email or checking email and when I open bookmarks. Up the top it says firefox not responding and a script error block opens asking me to continue or stop script. It give me this same error all the time no matter if I select continue or stop script.
As far as email sites go. The "Adblock Plus" extension with at least the "EasyList US" filter subscription would probably help. I does block a lot of unnecessary Script files whose sole purpose is to provide advertising. You can of course add additional filter subscriptions or filters of your own.
There are many extensions that can cause such problems, and you may have to go through your extensions.
One thing you might do is eliminate Problematic Extensions that you are not using, but mainly check to see how the create problems and you may have to make a choice between extensions. The Unresponsive Script Warning page lists some extensions with problems (thought it listed more) and describes how to check through your extensions to help find which extension is the problem Sometimes the message will tell you.

Click on the blue Internet Recovery in nbar's post. That is a link to what computers can run Internet Recovery.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

How can I sync my iphone 4s calendar to my macbook pro without using cloud. I can sync from macbook to iphone but not visa versa. I have not upgraded to Lion so I am not using iCloud. I also have tried send an invite from the calendar so it will appear in my mac mail account. No luck on either.

You can't do that in AirPlay Mirroring. AirPlay Mirroring can only mirror your MacBook's display, so you can't do one thing in your Mac's display and another in the TV.

I have a work ipad but they have removed safari and locked it down so i cant put apps from my itunes account onto it. Any ideas on what i can do
Besides the ethical and professional issues involved, the iPad appears to be linked to a different iTunes account than your personal one. Applications are tied to the account, not the device - so if you were able to use your personal account to install the apps in question, you'd be wiping out all the ones your employer put on.
If you feel these apps are necessary for your work, then talk to your supervisor/tech department about them purchasing additional copies for use on the iPad. -
When I launch a video from Finder the video is not visible, it's like it's playing on an extended desktop but I can't see the other screen - what is going on?

It's a weird one as it doesn't happen all the time. Could it have anything to do with running Apple TV and the MacBook 'thinking' there is another display (extended desktop) and playing the video there?
