• Fullscreen video playback on external monitor (overlay problem?)

I want to watch videopodcasts via iTunes fullscreen on my external Monitor/TV. It works fine with Quicktime and WindowsMediaPlayer but iTunes doesn't play my Videos in Fullscreen on my external Monitor.
I had the idea it is because the overlay mode isn't siwtched on but I can't find where to setup the display mode of video playback in iTunes.
Can anybody help me?

oh, no...
i thouhght the iTunes Videoplayback would rely on Quicktime and thus it would be possible.

• Aperture fullscreen not working with external display

Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro, however when I am using Aperture and have my 23" display connected, it won't let me use fullscreen mode on the display even though it has the Aperture window there. The display simply become black and Aperture starts up fullscreen mode on my Macbook display instead.
Why is this? How can I get Aperture to do fullscreen on my external display?
Thanks!

To choose what the secondary monitor will display you have to click on the button on the bottom left of the screen (with a monitor on it).
Unfortunately Aperture won't allow you to choose which is your primary or secondary display, you'll have to do it in System Preferences - Displays, then in the arrangement section drag the top bar from one to the other. That will make your external monitor primary for all the applications.

• Itunes cant find my library in external HD

Ok Gang...
I consolidated my library and moved it to an external HD. I changed the advanced setting info to find my new external HD. But when I open Itunes it comes up blank no music library. Help How do I correct this problem. How do I tell Itunes to find my external HD and open the library?

There's been a few threads about this recently. Where we've all come unstuck is that even if we can get Itunes to look in the right place for the music (by consolidating, or dragging the files into the library) ... IT STILL LOSES ALL THE USER-GENERATED INFORMATION.
That is to say; you'll find your music again, but all the album art, ratings, playlists and so on that you made yourself will be gone gone gone.
No-one so far has come up with a solution to this. Several of us have found that even if we input it all again, it's lost the next time we connect the External.
If anyone has found a solution, PLEASE tell us, because this problem makes the entire ITunes experience time-consuming and pointless. You might as well go back to having a big pile of CDs on your bedroom floor!

Hi S T,
in the WSDL there occurs the situation that there are in one prtType multiple operations with the same name (e.g. portType "Adapter" contains two definitions for operation with name "importAdapter". Indeed, the original WSDL specification seems to allow this. However, in WS-I it is forbidden (see R2304).
Therefore, the Integration Builder does not consider this document to be valid WSDL. This is a little bit tragic, as the portType definitions are not considered by the following steps anyway. A simple workaround would be to delete everything behind the message definitions.
Greetings Stephan

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup

• I cant get sound from my external speakers.

Ive checked the system preferences and cant find them in the sound output list. Also tried restarting several times and put the speaker cable to the jack speaker input without any success. Help appreciated!
Got it working. For some reason the output had muted itself. Just had to un-mute and voila...

I'd say it +should be+ something they are not surprised to hear about, but I've read posts on the forums where Apple tech claimed to "never have seen a problem like this before" for issues with MBP batteries - and this was after the 1.2 update release where Apple formally acknowledged battery problems.
So, don't be surprised if the support tech claims to be. But they will certainly have no trouble fixing it. If you're close to an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment and they'll fix you up. Or call AppleCare and they'll arrange for you to ship it in.

I have checked the the hosting website and the exchange server. I am unable to still receive external e-mail. I need to know how to check to see if the mail.domain.com is being allowed to through the firewall. I would like to also attah to the firewall within the web Browser.

Hello Kevin,
For that you must provide the IP address of the SMTP server with the problem and then the running configuration
Otherwise you could open a TAC case

• External Display won't go Fullscreen

I have an Intel-based iMac running Snow Leopard with an external display connected. I want to display fullscreen video on the external display but I'm having problems. Specifically, here is what happens:
Firstly, the displays are not mirrored - which is how I want it.
Secondly, if I pop up an application - e.g. Safari running some flash video - then go to fullscreen, the video displays on the iMac screen - which is what I would expect. However, if I drag the window to the external monitor and then go fullscreen, the iMac monitor (not the external) goes fullscreen - not want I want.
I've found that I move the menu bar to the external monitor (via system prefs) then the external does indeed go fullscreen - but that's not what I want.
So my question is: how do I keep the menu bar on the iMac but the fullscreen video on the external?
Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.

I had this problem with an early version of Safari 4. One of the updates fixed it. Are you using the current 4.0.4?
Also, does this happen if you do the same thing with FireFox, Camino, or other browser? How about iTunes, QuickTime Player, or DVD Player?
If it's only in Safari, you can also try trashing the Safari user preference file. It is located at
<user home folder>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
With Safari not running, move the file to your Desktop, then run Safari so that a new preference file is created.
Note: Some apps have a setting in their preferences that controls which screen gets the +full screen+. So no matter where the window is located, that screen gets the full screen. Safari is NOT one of them.

• Mountain Lion cant see my WD external Drive

I have just got my new MBP 15inch this week. I tried to mount a 1TB WD external Hard disk ... but my MBP (including the Disk Utility) cant see it. The external drive can be mounted perfectly on another MB 13 inch Mac OS Leopard machine.
I tried to plug/unplug ... use different USB port ... and i failed. After two days I tried again and only once my MBP 15 inch detected the drive !!!! It was very weird ! I copied some stiuff from the drive and unplugged it. When I tried to plug it again, the same problem appeard !!!
Help !

Thanks for the no-one-help. But for other poor buyers : Buy a new SS USB cable. It seems that Mountain Lion cant read the WD with the one-year old cable. Anyhow ... both are frustrating (Apple and WD )
get a new cable !

• Browser window open on laptop, and movie in fullscreen on external monitor???

I recently got a monitor as a second display for my laptop.
I tried to play a movie in fullscreen mode on the external monitor and
have a browser window open on my laptop screen.
Fullscreen mode puts the movie in its own desktop/space and when switch to it
with a gesture, My laptop screen also switches to a respective/designated (but blank) space.
So I cannot at the moment see both windows on different displays at the same time...
Is there any way to do this ???

When you first hook it up it will probably have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode with the MacBook as the main screen. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to use the MacBook’s keyboard and trackpad to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

• Can i have my windows partition on an external drive?

hello all,
alright, so im looking at a laptop for college and after much research and a few trips to the apple store i want the new, 13-inch macbook pro, with retina display and a 256GB flash hard drive. i love this computer in every aspect except.... you guessed it, its small hard drive. i can always get external drives to make up the differance though, and their is always the cloud so i dont think ill have too much of a problem. but i do need to use some software for college that is only windows based. so rather then splitting up this already small hard drive can i just install windows onto my mac (because i already know i cant put windows on an external drive with boot camp) and make the entire windows partition on the external drive? this way im not losing any native space besides that used to hold windows and im not installing windows to an external drive so hopefully bootcamp wont have a hissey fit. can anyone tell me if this will work? or if this wont work can anyone give me any other solutions to having windows on my mac without splitting up my native hard drive? such as installing windows to my mac and making the partition in the cloud or something? just anything so i dont have to split my already small, yet extremally fast, 256GB hard drive.

You can install Windows on your internal drive and store your Windows data on any drive you want to use. Keep in mind that any Windows programs you install in Windows will be installed on your internal drive. So make the Boot Camp partition large enough for Windows and any programs you may install now or in the future. You will also need room for swap/page files and other activities such as installing Windows updates.
100GB will likely be a good size for the Boot Camp partition given that it is unknown what programs you will be installing.
