Hey guys I got a used iBook from a family friend that has it password protected.I can't update or delete programs or download anything without the passwords and he doesn't remember them.Is there any way for me to get around these without wiping the computer and starting from scratch?
Hello,
Sadly without the system disk you can't do a lot. I would suggest you enable root user, log in as root and reset your administrators password, however you can't without knowing the administrator password first.
The only solution would be is to obtain the correct system disk or buy a retail copy of Mac OS X. But note, it depends on what version of the iBook you own depends, on what version of Mac OS X you will require.
You can still obtain the system disk or retail disks from online vendors, but they come at a cost.
System disk are grey in color, while retail disk have a big 'X' on it.

My Galaxy S4 decided to password protect itself... no idea why. I usually use the Lock Screen pattern, when I screw that up enough it prompts me for a PIN. I guess that's what happened, but after I got in after doing entering the PIN, I didn't reset my PIN or pattern, so now it's asking me for a password to get into the phone.
I've tried using Android Device Manager to send the phone a new password... it doesn't work. When I send an integer only password the phone prompts for a PIN, but it doesn't accept the PIN I send, and when I send it a alpha-numeric password, it prompts for a password, but doesn't accept that either. Clearly the phone is acknowledging the receipt of new protocol.... but it's not adhering to the new directions.
Anyone know how get around this? Or another method that doesn't require me destroying all of my data? Or a way for me to retrieve my data without having to manually select "Use as Media Device" (can't do this since I can't access the drop down menu). Thanks for trying all those steps already, Salos. We don't have a way to retrieve any passwords set up on your phone for the lock codes or accounts. Based on your description, it sounds as if it may be asking for your Google account password. It's the fallback for many Android-based devices when a lock passcode/pattern/PIN is entered incorrectly too many times. Try logging into Google.com with the Gmail email address you set up as your main account for the phone to ensure you have the correct username and password combination. Then try entering that same information on the phone when prompted. It's important to also make sure the phone is in an area with a good data signal (WiFi or 3G /4G LTE). If you are unable to access the phone using any passwords or PIN that you created, then the reset would be the final step but will result in the loss of the data on your phone.

When syncing my old 1st generation shuffle, itunes would select a subset of my music library. Now all I get is a not enough space message. I cannmot find a way to accomplish this and do not want to keep manually creating 2gb playlists. Does anybody know how to make itunes select songs from the music library?
As usual, Apple Help is of no help. ThanksI solved my problem by restoring the shuffle to factory settings on the summary screen. Now it seems to work the way it's supposed to. Many thanks to Apple for zero help, as usual. Apple should direct less resources to developing the next snazzy ipad and more to cleaning up and enhancing itunes. I'll make the same editorial comment about the iphone 4 voicemail options.

Had 3G, moved to 3GS. Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer. But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything. How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?
Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

I have re-installed I-tunes and have a new operating system (Win 7 Pro).
I now cannot sync as I-tunes says my I-Pod is already connected to a library and wants to erase my music on the I-Pod. What do I do to get around this problem? An iPod is designed to be synced with only one computer/iTunes library at a time. If you try to sync the iPod with a new/different iTunes library, iTunes on the new/different computer will replace the contents currently on the iPod with whatever is currently stored in its own library.
If the music and content on your iPod is not in iTunes or in a backup somewhere you can use the information in this user tip from another forum member turingtest2 to help you copy this content from the Nano back to the PC and into iTunes.

I changed my computer (old Dell is dead!) and now when I want to sync the contents of my iPod onto my new computer (a Sony Vaio), it tells me I can only sync with one computer (i.e. the one that died!) How do I get around this??
-Transfer iTunes purchases to the compuer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discusssed here:
Copy music
- Connect the Ipd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not contain synced media like apps and music. -
I have an ipad and just bought a second one for my daughter and she wants all my music on her ipad. All the music is under my itunes account yet she has her own itunes account so she can have her own apps and purchase apps with gift cards (She's only 9)
I subscibe to music match under my account but it wont let me put my music on her ipad under hers or even my itunes account. I get some sort of 90 day error message. How do i get around this so I can let her have my music on her ipad?iTunes Match is not sharable across Apple IDs. The best way to get the music on her iPad is to leave hers signed into her Apple ID on the iTunes Store and sync via USB.

Whenever I try to add music to Itunes, my computer locks up. This never happened until I update itunes to the latest version. How do I get around this?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too. -
When I got my Ipod Touch 3 years ago, my mum set up an Apple ID in her name & email address. I have since got an Ipad & set up my own Apple ID. How can I update my Ipod to my Apple ID? I would like to sync the Ipad and Ipod, but cant get past this ID problem?

I can't download music from my library to my ipod because it says only 5 accounts are allowed to share content. How do I get around this?
Or how do I change the 5 devices. Some are not used anymore

Why when I try to re download my music it says this device is already associated with another device and I have so many days to re download my music back? How do I get around this and get my music back?
It is telling you that the device has been associated with another Apple ID. Once an Apple ID has been associated with a device, there is a 90-day waiting period before another Apple ID can be associated with that device. Here is a Support Article that explains the 90-day waiting period:
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID

I am not good with computers. I am trying to get my iTunes onto this new laptop but it says I am only allowed to have it on 5 computers and I must take it off one to ut it on this new laptop. Problem is, apart from my iPad, I have lost one laptop and two have been broken beyond repair so I am unable to take it off! Anyone any ideas? I have tried to get iTunes support but cant get past the "date of purchase" as I can only guess when I bought my ipod (2009)
Hang on...
You can only authorise the songs you purchase from the iTunes Store to play on five computers.
You can download and install iTunes (the iTunes programme) onto as many computers as you wish.
Two different things.
Assuming therefore, that your problem is that you have authorised five computers, but now no longer have some of them, you need to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise the computers you still have.
To de-authorise your computers, go to your account in the iTunes Store and look for the Deauthorise All button.
