i cant get the number pad on the right side of my wired keyboard to work. when i puch a key, my computer will either freeze or it will do nothing. Plz help me. My mac is an Intel-based mac, Running off of Mac OS X 10.4.10, not the one made out of aluminum. what should i do?
Hi, it's the old favorites - Repair Permissions, Run OnyX Maintenance App. Reboot, reset Keyboard/ Mouse settings, run Tech Tool. The number pad on by Mac USB keyboard does not work (no input). I have updated the Mac keyboard drivers and that did fix the problem. How can I get this keyboard to work when connected to my Powerbook?

I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit.

How do I set the number pad to work with spaces?
It has worked with other OSs but with Mavericks 10.9.5 (and from what I here, Yosemite) you can not use the number pad to change spaces. I know I can use the numbers across the top or the arrows, I just find it quicker and ergonomic to use the number pad. As many spaces I use this is very inconvenient to be reaching across the keyboard. Is there a way to fix this. I went to the preferences but could not find anything there to change. Maybe Apple could fix this in there next update.
Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Hello. I'm having a problem signing onto my iPad mini. When I went to sign on yesterday the number pad to sign on moved upward and now it is out of site. Now I can't sign on the only thing that shows is the Apple logo.
Have you tried to give your iPad a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if it helps.

Hello community members, my iPhone has been stolen and I tried to contact police, they are asking for IMEI number of the phone. Unfortunately I could not read the IMEI number on the box due to moisture wiped out most of the number on it. I sacanned it in and enhanced, I'm still unable to read out the number. Is there any other method so that I can contact Apple to get IMEI number ? since the phone was shyncronized several times in apple store / iCloud.
If you backed up your iPhone in iTunes on your computer -
Open iTunes - Edit - Preferences - Devices - See Device Backups in the Window.
Hover mouse/curser on any backup. Read IMEI and Serial no. your of iPhone. -
I used to be alble to double click and open a new page but that is no longer an option. Because you cant get a total view of the playlist it is almost impossible.. if a song is in position 95 and I want to put it at 3 I have to hold it and drag it till the curor moves.. This makes creating an order almnost impossible because you cn only see half of the songs

"." on the number pad is causing ctrl+alt+del feature
Hey everyone, I set up VirtualBox for someone in order to run Windows XP about a year ago. I'm not sure what changed but recently when they press the "." key on the number pad, it triggers the ctrl+alt+del feature. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have an app in my app store that is requiring an update but I never purchased the app and when I click update, another apple ID pops up that is not mine. Now i keep getting reminders to update the app and I cant get rid of it from the app store. Help.
You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac

A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test. -
The number pad on my wirelss keyboard has stopped working...help!

New to macs, I have a new interl-based iMac with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Yesterday the number pad stopped working. The CD eject and sound buttons still work, but the numbers themselves do not - in fact when I use them, the whole machine freezes and I can not do anything. I was playing around in the system preferences yesterday - did I click something I should not have? Or is the keyboard faulty and in need of going back to the apple store for replacing?
I have updated the machine fully, including the latest keyboard update, but the same resulting freezing occurs when I press a number on the pad.

classic 120gb stuck on disk mode and cant get it off and tried the reset ! before it went into disk mode it went it had red cross ?
i read on the internet that this is a harddrive fault?
please dont say it is!

ChazThat's super odd. It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

Can no longer switch desktops using control-number on the number pad.
Now that I upgraded to Mavericks, I can no longer switch desktops in Mission Control using control-number on the number pad. Only the numbers on the top row work.
It's rather annoying, as it's much easier and quicker for me to swap desktops with my right hand (thumb on control, finger on numeric keypad) than left handwith the top row.
Anyone else having this problem?
Remember, Apple, a lot of folks still have full keyboards!changing the keyboard shortcuts does the trick!
(Apparently Mavericks thinks the number pad numbers are different than the top row numbers. If you redo the shortcuts to use the number pad, the top row numbers no longer work with Mission Control) -
