im trying to update my ipad 2, but cant because the new version of itunes wont open on my laptop the error message says its because of date execution prevention but then i cant turn it off for itunes. then how can i update my ipad, its still running with the original software of 4.3.3.

You need to get iTunes to open. Thewre's no other way to update from such an old OS version.
Uninstall, and reinstall iTunes.
Also since this is direcly an iTunes issue, posting in the iTunes forum may offer more precise help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I'm tired of automatic downloads filling my hard drive every time I open iTunes on my laptop. Tonight I had to go to iTunes to verify my payment info - even though I'd already done that two days ago - and before I can even access the iTunes Store, iTunes starts downloading 44 TV shows that I've purchased over the last few months on my AppleTV; before I could completely stop it, it had entirely filled up my hard drive - 180 GB. There's NO reason there isn't a way to stop auto-downloads of TV shows - every other type of media has the ability to stop auto-downloads, and given that I have an AppleTV (for now!), why in pasta's name would I want to load them onto my laptop?!

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

doublechecking something before proceeding ... are any boxes ticked in the Compatibility tab for your QuickTime?
(i've seen that message produced when some of the Display Settings boxes in there are ticked, not just the compatibility mode one.)
